@mr.french:
Really not a strong argument. Luffy may choose not to use Gears in the future based on the negative side effects it has on him. It's perfectly reasonable to claim that Luffy would not want to risk fatiguing himself at a quicker rate or shrinking for that matter. Remember his enemies in the future will know haki as well. Why open up his weaknesses to his enemies, when they'll be more resilient than any enemy he's ever faced?
Gear 3rd is replaceable with CoA haki. Rayleigh tossed aside a giant elephant without any problem. And Gear 2nd can be replaced as well with both CoA and CoO haki. You don't need to be faster than someone if you can predict attack patterns first and attack accordingly. Let's assume he's way faster by now as well. Not to mention that haki may probably be used in some way to enhance one's speed. And let's not forget that haki can always be improved on. So why bother with Gears?
I for one am for Luffy not using his Gears anymore.
You assume that after two years this is still a big issue?
And Island splitting quake and a quake bubble directly to the head didn't put down Akainu&Teach and you think Luffy will able to put out guys remotely that tough with just his naturally developed strength+haki?
Sandersonia would like to have a discussion with you. Faster you are then the easier it is to use this skill.
Any speed increase would only put him on par with new fighters. Fights between two CoO users would obviously come down to who is faster and more skilled. Exact same idea behind Jedi duels since they all have pre-cog. G2 is the obvious method to deal with somebody on par or better than new base Luffy also using CoA.
Completely baseless idea. Grasping at straws here. How does willpower increase your speed or any physical stats? CoA doesn't increase strength just the attack power behind their attacks. Rayleigh&Shanks are just fast like Jimbei(but faster) nothing to do with Haki.
Because they are still power-ups that give big advantages that out weight the downsides? Downsides that have likely gone down in the past 2 years anyways. Haki was introduced as a universal tool to equalize fights with Logias, special defenses(being rubber), and incredible speed(Kizaru/Kuma/Enel). Not a replacement for everything built up since the series began. All DF users are one with their fruits. It makes no sense to only improve one side of your skill set while ignoring the other. Don't understand how any one can be against using a devil fruit to its full potential, especially the main character.
