It may look better, but it still looks boring. This is at most a rent for me.
DmC Devil May Cry

Should I bother responding. Or may I get jumped for doing so?
-
It looks far better even in this early stage than DMC 4 ever has.
-
Awesome… Seriously...
-
It looks fun and there are more enemies than 4 for sure. Nero's devil bringer was so overpowered. I like environments.
However, I still get over the fact that they replaced the Dante I love.
-
Was Dante really that great of a character to begin with?

This post is deleted!

Haha good point Buuhan.
Lol, if you look over my posts for this thread, I sound like a broken fucking record, buuuuut "gameplay gameplay gameplay!" That's what this ENTIRE series has ALWAYS been about for me. (hell, same goes for Bayonetta… I mean... she looks dumb. But damn is she fun to hang out with!)
Granted... I dislike the angel thing... really... but whatever. I'm sure i'll live.
His face is fixed. It looks fuller and like he's eaten breakfast for the past year. The haircut looks like short hair. Stop calling him Emo. (oh wait, we did).
His voice is alright (at least the bits I HEARD, behind all the japanese blathering)
Environments are surreal and cool looking.
Enemies look like enemies.
Combat area's are sealed off by weird stuff.
He runs like Dante
He swings his sword like Dante
Hell his starting combo looks.... ALOT like Dante
Don't say combat looks boring.... because that's how most DMC games start out combat-wise. The more weapons and moves you get... the more fun combat gets. So hush.
Don't CRY (lol) about Devil Trigger... cause in the second vid, I think he just kept wailing on the one enemy... cause either the demo player sucked, or he was just showing off how... from what it looks like that time has stopped and Dante can deal out tons of damage that will all hit at once the moment he ends the trigger. At least that's how it looks to me. So a good player, will divide the DT time to run around and mess up a group of enemies for it's duration.
So ok. I'm becoming somewhat satisfied. Gonna change the thread title.
-
Hmm, while I STILL don't like how dante looks, and while I STILL don't like the half-angel bullshit, I will admit that the game itself looks much better now.
-
I like pretty much everything changed here. The art direction, plot, characters, and design look way better than all Devil may Cry games put together. It seems that gameplay runs even way smoother than all other past games too. I am also digging the music used in battles. Ninja Theory, I love you.
-
So are these changes "Hey, just wait till the game is closer to release" non-changes or "Holy shit people are furious, lets alter what we can while we're still in development" changes?
-

That one. They were smart revealing the game earlier on cause they knew they were gonna get hate/feedback due to the fact it was a reboot with changes to the main character and a new developer, so anything they presented was going to be criticized with a vengeance. This way, the vengeance has had time to simmer and as the game improves so does the peoples opinions along with it.
-
But you said yourself that they changed Dante's face.
-
It's not a reboot they said it's a prequel showing how Dante became the Dante we know now. People made it seem like the hair was the issue. Don't tell me this is the Dante we know when his face is completely different, we know he hates smoking. I wish they would of said this is a reboot with a new Dante and new story I'd have no issues. Who knows maybe Capcom said no reboot and NT wanted a reboot. I really don't know why they can't do 60 fps, all hack and slash games should be there. It's either because of UE3 or NT that 60 fps won't be there.
-
Where are you getting your prequel info from? Everything up to this point has called it a reboot.
-
How fucked up the crowd is… CapcomChannel disabled the comments cuz of the spam and Gametraillers took out the TGS trailers.
Seriously
Stage presentation
-
Seems like the whiners have won more or less, even if it was to epect
OK this time NT failed hard… They could simply say this from the very beginning and not talking about a reboot or origin story and such a stuff
-
I knew that already.
-
It's harder to backpedal slowly than backpedal quickly, god Ninja Theory don't you know how to ride a bike at all?
-
I think it should be obvious at this point Ninja Theory doesn't know a whole lot.

Well after being one who cried at the beginning, I have to say… The screens are looking fantastic and I'm actually like the gameplay so far as well.
I will give it a try... it can't be worse than Asura's Wrath
-
I got a feeling that this game going to get great reviews and…..."fans" will still find something to bitch about.
-

That's pretty easy since Asura's Wrath isn't even a game.
-

Yep. Just like Resident Evil 4 was pretty much a masterpiece, but fans call it garbage cause it isn't "Resident Evil." Not saying DmC will be RE4 good, just an example.
Interesting tidbit, the original Devil May Cry was made from a scrapped version of RE4, Capcom didn't want the work (money) to just be thrown away. They did a similar thing with Haunting Ground, which was made with the scrapped Clock Tower 4 and yet another scrapped version of RE4.
-

Really depends on what they're trying to do with the game. I haven't watched any of the videos but someone said there looked to be more enemies than in a previous DMC game which could make it so they have to limit the frame rate. And maybe they're running it at 1080p? Or maybe it's what you said, that the reason is because they're using the Unreal Engine which might not be very optimized.
I didn't even realize that the other DMC games ran at 60 FPS, and I think you should be lucky that they did in the first place.

And now all the fans love RE4, hopelly the same came happen with this one.

Actually, no. The "hardcore" fanbase still vocally puts it down to this day.

I thought the only gripes were:

The castle (I'll never do that again. NOPE.)

Too much focus on "action" and less horror.

Maybe I should post it in the Fuck Capcom thread that people can bitch around… As it seems Capcom made the decision and not NT about this new Dante (yeah i know it was said plenty of times already) but still people bitch too much about NT

More like bitch about things they have next to no knowledge about. Or for the sake of just bitching about it.

This game is under the rug as far as I'm concerned. I forgot it existed until I saw this thread again. Off the radar you go again.
-
I just want to get this off my chest and say something, cause it's been bugging the shit out of me. As of now, I've got nothing against this game. I might pick up a demo, and if I'll like it, I'll buy it. It doesn't look bad, but really, my interest isn't exactly at it's peek. I'm not going to pounce on this game and say that there's a million things wrong with it when I haven't played it.
But what bugs me…
Was Dante really that great of a character to begin with?
…Yes. I liked Dante. I like how corny he was. I liked how ridiculous he was. I liked how.....'gay' everyone said he was. I like Dante. He is a fun and goofy character that I like to play as.
Now, it's now apparent that the new Dante isn't made to replace the current, as this is much more of an 'alternate timeline' sort of thing, and that's fine. Maybe the new Dante could turn out to be awesome. Hell, we had four Mega Mans in the past. Granted, that's a depressing comparison I'm making, but there was a time when all four we frequently available and known. I know I bashed the new Dante in the past, and I'm sorry. I haven't played the game, so I can't make that judgment.
But what bugs me is that I'm not allowed to want things without being called a whiner...because you don't like that thing?
"I don't want to lose Dante! He was a fun character!"
"I didn't like Dante, so you're just complaining and can't let go of the past!"If you didn't like the content to begin with, who are you to make judgment of what I should like with the new, changed content? Cause clearly, this is your preference. This is what you prefer. And that's fine, and I'm sure there might be absolutely nothing wrong with this character. Hell, I may even like him. But let me like my character and my past. Let me wish that there's still a future for him.
And the people who made wars against this games and bullshit like that. All the people who are going to trash and attack this game as being pure shit without even taking a single glance at it. The people who are going to hate this game and character purely based on the fact that it's not classic Dante, they're always going to be that way. There is always going to be people relentlessly attack something for no apparent reason, and in this case, the crowd is quite massive and I'm sorry about that.
But don't attempt to convince me that this game is going to be better because what I liked in the past was a piece of shit. Because all that does is make me think your opinion is as invalid and useless as those people.

I agree with everything you said and I would like to point out the fact that most of the people hating are still going to buy the game.

Agreed. DMC3 was the first one I played, at my cousin's house while I was there on vacation, and the only reason that I actually decided to give the game a shot was because the opening bit with the pizza and the demons cracked me up. Dante was hilarious in a really corny way that I loved and that's what drew me in, not because DUDE KILLING DEMONS was a fresh and appealing premise to me.

Looks awesome but waiting for the "haters"
-
For those who don't wanna leave the park.
Game looks good. Dante looks good. Looks pretty damn awesome.
-
Gameplay looks pretty awesome. I'm hoping there is a far wider arsenal of weapons, but I'm sure that's to be expected. Really like the platforming, and I always love the usage of chains or pulleys in any game. Camera seems to keep up pretty decently, but I think that judgment can only be made with the game at hand. And I like Dante. He comes off a bit as a prick, but something tells me there could be more to him than what we know so far.
But I'm glad this isn't a complete reboot, but hopefully a spin-off. I'm sorry. The game has a far more serious edge than DMC. I don't like taking stories seriously unless it gives me a reason to take it so seriously. This is what I genuinely loved about Bayonetta. It was a ridiculous concept, and it realized it. So it did everything in its power to be over-the-top, having lipstick being shot through a gun or have ridiculously silly boss deaths. It was fun. It was unusual.
A game can take itself seriously, and that's fine, but it needs to be able to back its seriousness up. It needs a damn good story. I'm not making judgment on the story, I'm just making judgment on the risk. The risk could completely pay off, but honestly, that's kind of been my issue with this new game. Again, I liked 'dancer, over-the-top, lame' Dante. I don't mind now that he's most likely not going to be erased, but if you want to be dark and edgy, give me something good.
But this just distant judgment. I haven't played the game, and it's really just a wait and see. I'm considering this game.
-
Well I really love the level design and the interactive stuff… But maybe a tad to wide when fighting opponents
-
As far as seriousness goes, the new trailer has young Dante diving through his trailer as it's destroyed and dressing himself… then flipping through a ferris wheel falling apart to catch his coat.
There was also a slice of pizza getting tossed around during the slow mo.
What i'm saying is that it seems this might not be as serious as we think. Maybe not cheesy, but I don't see it as that dark either.
Young Dante seems cocky, brash, and slightly pissy. Older Dante has matured in his own unique way... he's cocky, confident, and takes little seriously. But then again... I suppose that's me interpreting these games as sequential and canon.... but.... guhh... nevermind. You know what i'm trying to say.
-
Everything in that video looks swank as hell. I love the environment. But I simply cannot get over how much the main character looks like such a raging comemierda (excuse my Spanglish)
I have no love for prior DMCs, I've only ever played the first one, but something has to be said for such a pissy looking fuckhead. I know nothing about him, yet I want to punch him in the face. Having an interesting looking main character is vital to gaining interest in said character. I saw a trailer for Prototype 2 the other day, my first thought was "…that was the guy I play as in this game? Pass" and I'm having similar feelings toward this one.
It's a shame too, because alot of what I'm seeing in this game looks very interesting to me, but I can't get over this guy.
-
That first screenshot threw me for a loop till I realized those legs were actually wearing pants.
-
2013's gonna be a busy year with all the delays and now this.
-
Kat seems pretty interesting. Cute design.
And that second picture seriously looks like some flashing.
-
Great design indeed. I really like it
I have noticed that during the last trailer that this Dante eats pizza which is a trait of the original. He seems to have the cocky personality of the original as well. There is also the over the top cutscenes of 3 and 4. I wonder if Capcom is just gonna say that it was the dante we know to calm all the angry fans.
easter eggs: Lol the reporter looks a lot like Bill Oreilly.
-
New trailer… Looks good
-
V for Vendetta ?
Looks sweet. I love how Dante writes f you on the list. Great environments and ost.
