At Comic Con 2010, Batman The Brave and Bold was confirmed the next season would be it's last and afterwards they's star the next new batman show. Rumor is going around this is the next show. So far this is to be taken with a grain of salt though.
Word is that the next Batman animated series may be a CGI series titled "Batman Infinity".
The series is inspired by recent storylines and deals with Batman/Bruce Wayne being blasted by Darkseid's Omega Beam while on a JLA mission and being lost in Hypertime.
Each episode will feature Batman materializing in an alternate world where he must assume a modified costume and equipment to blend in, assuming the identity of that world's Batman (that world's Batman having been shifted elsewhere due to the Omega effect).
Alternate worlds would include realities where Batman is a cowboy, pirate, knight, vampire, etc. as well as more familiar worlds inspired by various eras from comic book history (Golden Age, Silver Age, 1960s, 1970s, etc) with artwork inspired by some of the greatest Batman artists (Dick Sprang, Neal Adams, Frank Miller, etc.).
Batman will also encounter alternate versions of his supporting cast (Robin, Commissioner Gordon, etc.) as well as other DC heroes and villains.
Besides Batman, the only other regular will be The Phantom Stranger who will be on hand to provide Batman with information on his new world and what he has to do to move on to the next world in an effort to get back home. The Phantom Stranger is essentially Al to Batman's Sam.
The series is inspired by Quantum Leap and Sliders and will make great use of the various Elseworld's Batman stories that have been published through the years.
It is hoped that the new series with the variant Batman costumes will help generate a huge line of merchandising such as action figures for each alternate Batman.
Personally, the idea is pretty good, but it just doesn't work after a couple episodes are over. This premise sounds like it'll get old quick. If this was a dtv movie maybe it could work…
