Toney's right.
OP's no Watchmen.

So Deicide, as we are probably the only sane hancock supporters, what do you think about her chances, going into part 2?
The Akainu option was the best thing that ever happened to this thread.
And what sort of themes would those be? "Lookit these snotty bad royal families who shoot kids on fishing dinghies with a bazooka", "Lookit em shoot this poor man who's being ridden like a donkey, did I mention how bad they are", or how about "look at our beautiful Straw Hat friend who's been kidnapped and put up for sale".
One Piece is made great because of how Oda handles this material, not because it is a multi-layered masterpiece on the human condition.
Off the top of my head, that many issues in the book aren't black and white is one such theme.
The WG, their politics, and most of what they represent and condone, "absolute justice" vs the justice of Aokiji and Garp, the revolutionaries doing what's necessary in the name of what's "right". Plenty of other stuff too.
There are tonnes of multilayered and complicated issues in One Piece. Deny as much you are flat out, factually incorrect.
This isn't Inception here or anything, but there are some relatively deep philosophical issues at play that are most definitely beyond the interests and capabilities of the average 10-year-old.
Bonney fans are tame and rare around here. But try to venture into OneManga's Next Nakama thread… it's dominated by Perona and Bonney fans right now.
Why the hell would anyone go to OneManga's forum in the first place.
What the hell
Compare us to the Perona and Bonnery ones.
Trust me buddy..we're the lesser of many evils.
Well that's where aohige went to trans the spoilers when this place was always crashing if someone sneezed in the wrong direction. That ever get fixed?
I have a strong feeling that the next Straw Hat crew member will be a fishman, although I'm not implying it will be Jimbei. The Straw Hats so far are made up of mostly abstract and bizarre characters, such as a cyborg, a reindeer, a living skeleton. Not to mention that our next likely arc will be Fishman Island, and with the island's history concerning Whitebeard alone, we're bound to get a deep backstory to some sort of character.
P.S. The Straw Hats need an actual marksman. Screw Usopp and his slingshots.
A professional marskman with a bull zoan and the title "Bullseye" for #10, please.
Compare us to the Perona and Bonnery ones.
Trust me buddy..we're the lesser of many evils.
Yet an evil all the same.
@Gol:

Why was it taken out? I was expecting him to have more votes than Perona before the spoilers.
I seriously can't entertain the Wiper type of arguments anymore since there are ppl actually serious about it.
@Cyan:

To see the incredibly stupid wonderful theories such as Sabo and Mr.2 being not alive, Bluejam as the person saved by Dragon, Perona joining, Bonney joining, legitimate debates on who is the strongest in One Piece and Perona supporters getting some lovin'. Truly a nightmare wonderful place where terrible bright ideas get nourished and cherished. :ninja:

These being interesting thought provoking themes doesn't make their One Piece presentation complex.
EDIT: "This isn't Inception here or anything," lolllll
Watchmen has a fairly superficial layer of meaning right under the surface, too. Plenty of simple visual puns and easy-to-grasp themes. I know Watchmen has layers and layers beneath that, though, and I wonder whether One Piece will ultimately have those, too. I wish I could say it does now, but I don't really believe that. Readers pick up on more subtle themes like the ambiguity of morality, but even that eventually gets narrated right on the page: "Whoever wins . . . becomes justice!"
@JERK:

No, not exactly, but they are still central issues in the story that are obviously not tailored towards 10-year-olds.

What makes you think 10 year olds are so shallow.

shrugs We've been quiet all this time.
So Deicide, as we are probably the only sane hancock supporters, what do you think about her chances, going into part 2?
hey ur not the only ones i am one
its just that people like decide sum up anything that usually needs to be said for that POV
im also a huge margurite(sp) fan even thoough i know her chances are slim to none and thats compared to the slim chances of perona, jimbei and hancock
@JERK:

…
They're 10-year-olds.
I think you're missing an important point here as well. Even if the presentation is dumbed down, they are still the complicated issues that they are and have the same effects that they would regardless as to how they are presented. That Oda has included these issues in his world makes it an inherently complex one.

Are you the guy who said that he was bummed about the timeskip because his cosplay plans for Chopper were ruined?:ninja:
I started watching One Piece at 10 and I understood it. Then again by that point I had only watched the subbed anime up to Arlong Park so nothing to deep, But I understood it, and liked that Arc specifically, not just "Ooh, blood, fighting, rubber"
If Perona shows up in this week's chapter, I jump out of a window.
@Gol:

no i am not…..sorry i guess
Heh, Wiper as a crew member.
The thought never even entered my head once.
I think it was the whole, "GRRRRRR ANGST MALE THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF HISTORY MANLY MALE GRRRRRR" repeat and rinse.
Oda takes predictable action and completely out-of-the-blue-shit-yourself surprises.
His surprises are usually something that most people don't pedict because he set up a red herring for us to draw our attention elsewhere OR presenting two ideas that seem unrelated.
Shanks is busy with Kaido an-WOAHSHANKS
Lucci and Kaku are knocked ou-WOAHTHEY'RECP9
Luffy's dad is proba-WOAHHISGRANDPAISAMARINE
I think Oda'd make one helluva magician.
Oda actually only 'fails' at telling a decent story when he lets his ideals get in the way. Of course even those moments have benefits in the long-run when he DOES break his rules making a scene all the more poignant.
I feel that there should be a "The crew is complete" vote option.
So, here in the U.S., a ten-year-old is usually in fourth grade. And while any smart ten-year-old is reading far above their grade level, a "fourth grade reading level" is still the recommendation for that grade, right? For typical students or something. Here's what's at that level: Pippi Longstocking. Winnie the Pooh. The Indian in the Cupboard. Captain Underpants. Bridge to Terabi-
Whoa. Okay, never mind. Bridge to Terabithia was a great book. But I think you'll most books aimed at ten-year-olds are pretty juvenile, because ten-year-olds are pretty juvenile.
@Dan:
…They're 10-year-olds.
You don't hang around too many kids do you.

No they fucking don't.
Presenting a basic depiction of the Skypiea land issues doesn't at all compare to an actual reading into irredentism and ethnic cleansing in any way shape or form.
When i think about it Bonney rly could be a possible nakama.
Iam not saying she will join, just that she has a bit of potential in my eyes.
She has to meet Sanji sometimes that for sure and also already had contact with Zoro once.:happy:
She seems to have an interesting past,which will sure lead us to a sad flashback of her.
She has a chance to get rescued by the SHs now that she is captured by the marines.
Her DF is unique and she would be fitting in the crew(well , personal opinion so don`t see it as an arguement)
Yeah you'd want to hope with this comment - none of the mods are either Jewish or had loved ones in the military in the earlier wars.
They may not see much humour in it just saying.
Yes because concentration camps = Jews.
I'm fed up with people acting like there's some sort of Jewish claim or first claim to being associated with genocides and concentration camps (which are not even exclusively ethnic or even killing centers).
I don't know what's worse, the "astonishing complexity" of one piece or the usual perona/hancock nonsense.
I guess the latter at least has the benefit of being on topic.
@JERK:

Not enough people reading up on their boer war.
When in doubt. Read his own words.
-Do you think ‘development’ might be one of the hidden themes of the film?
This is just how I am but I don’t put things like ‘messages’ in my work. For me, a ‘theme’ is a tool to tie a piece of work together and I don’t deliberately attempt to make anyone come away thinking about anything. Instead I was always trying to draw about what the possibilities of ‘development’ can hold and it’s the same for the comic too. “I wanna be like that”, or “It’d be cool if I could do that.”, are basic elements of manga and when people see those kinds of images it’s nothing short of thrilling. It’s the same with the characters who show up in the story, every time I come up with them I think, “If I lived on this island what kinds of things would I be thinking about?” It’s possible that’s a theme, whether or not people can adapt to their surroundings or not.

OT I know but I did mention the earlier wars as well I know it is not just limited to the Germans and the Jews. It is one of the more publicised ones for a variety of reasons.
There is a common stigma attached to Concentration Camps and I doubt the user was using it in anyway an acceptable manner.
Besides TONEY appears to only be trolling for a hostile response, he really isn't adding much to the discussion that hasn't been covered by others such as yourself.
