Again, a lot of this stuff really depends on how this arc develops, but I do feel he is only one who we should wait and see for a bit more. I still think he is unlikely to develop the right way, but it isn't impossible

I was just trying to give an example of a way I could see it happening that Oda might set up something like that. But has Van Der Dekken done anything up to this point to terrorize the kingdom ASIDE from his "love letters"? Because that would be a real game changer. He is a pretty weak candidate from what we know right now, but unlike other characters I see him as having a chance to develop

I rarely speculate on this sort of things but I believe it's not a bad idea for the mermaid princess to join up with the crew, after reading the latest chapter and seeing how she is asking all those questions about the world, sounds like she wants to see everything and travel to many places. Other then that I don't see any potential assets she can bring to the crew yet but it can change as the arc progress.

Walking down the street to check the mail will be an adventure for a girl that's been locked in a room for ten years. Disney princess motiff aside, putting her life on the line and facing horrific dangers which she can't fight against is not on the agenda.

Not to mention she's a giant, a scaredy cat, a princess (ransom bait), a mermaid (Ransom bait X2) who has no legs (can't go on land) that Luffy has taken an immediate dislike to on multiple accounts, (Name, touching, personality) and her "tragic past" has already been covered in dialogue… she's been locked in a room.

The strawhats just spent two years doing hardcore training to survive in the new world. She's a pampered princess thats scared of everything and has a pet shark she can't be without.

She's not joining, and the sooner this theorywild speculation with no backing at all can be killed and creamated, the better.

Marguerite case was quite different than the princess since she was not imprisoned in an isolated cell and only being friend with a shark for 10 years but Marguerite was on an island where she had the freedom to roam the whole island as she pleased. In addition she had the right of choice to become a pirate and see more of the world, that was the most cases with the girls on Amazon Lily whereas the princess had no choice and no future to look forward to until Luffy showed up and broken 10 years of imprisonment.

But yeah I'm not saying she is going to join, I'm saying I want her to join, at least I can admit that much ahahaha

Because he was introduced doing long term villainy, instead of playing with Luffy's hat, or wearing a speedo and doing a dance.

Except Franky wasn't introduced doing a dance. He was introduced in a mask as a complete asshole and beat up Usopp in the first chapter he appeared in, and had no goofy traits yet either. Robin's introduction is a bit more ambiguous in some ways, but she was also the highest ranking female member of the villainous organization, as well as appearantly killing Igaram

Van Der Decken is forcing the princess to marry him or he will kill her, that is no difference than WG forcing Robin to decipher codes or Arlong forcing Nami to draw maps. He is not changing anytime soon if he was at it for 10 years.

Right now we're standing around in the Crewmate garden waiting for a flower or tree sprout to pop up in the soil.

While we're doing this, you walk up and start describing how a mound of inert soil could become a Sequoia.

The Franky Family beat Usopp up, Franky himself had nothing to do with it.

At his hideout, Usopp attacked him first. Franky then proceeded to fight him as little as possible, and noted that he must love his ship, then left the fight that USOPP started. At that point he was still being presented as a mystery presence.

The first time we SAW Franky, without a mask, as an actual character, with an introduction caption box, was as a goofball.

Robin's introduction is a bit more ambiguous in some ways, but she was also the highest ranking female member of the villainous organization, as well as appearantly killing Igaram

Where she offered to help them, gave them a log pose to avoid danger, said she was interested in them, Luffy initially noted "That was nice of her" and Sanji found her to be beautiful. Before the whole "working for the evil organization" aspect kicked in.

Him being goofy is also a bad point, since many other villains were goofy as well, so Franky still could have been a goofy villain at that point. Anyways, I'm getting tired of this arguement. I just don't think every strawhat has immediately been a possibility, right from the get go. We shouldn't rule out a possibility unless we have very good, definite evidence that they won't join. Dekken's flaws are bad, but I pointed out way back when a few other reasons I feel he could have a chance. All I've been saying is that there are valid points both ways, and that further development is needed before we can make a clear judgement

Aside from the stalker angle, the "love me or die" mentality, the dream that is wrapped up in a specific person, the villainous look, daily throwing weapons that could accidentally kill someone, and the conspiring to overthrow the king. Just because he's got a quirk of some sort doesn't make him crewmate potential, this is OP. Everyone has quirks. Lucchi was silent and had his pigeon talk for him initially. One of the guys in movie ten made fart noises when he walked. Quirkiness alone doesn't overturn everything else against the guy.

And no, I honestly don't think Robin could have been predicted as a crewmate, even in hindsight, she just didn't seem like a totally ridiculous option in hindsight.

THis whole arguement has been me saying he has a remote possibility, and then everyone assuming I think he is a shoo in to join and calling me an idiot since he is being portrayed as a villain right now. Because otherwise it would be consistant new threads created rather then keeping them all to one thread.

Problem isn't that you are not allowed to predict the characters - but if you want to predict them then have the guts to follow through. If it is a pure shot in the dark guess then say it add it to your sig.

Otherwise people here will find umbrage and call you out. Do you "have" to defend your veiws or predictions - only if you want to, and to be fair some great debates have come from people being stubborn here.

I personally think that the Blue Ringed Octopus Drunk Swordsman is potentailly interesting - he is powerful - but seems happy to follow others and looks after his crew.

He is interesting - note not ZMOG NEXT NAKAMAKANAKAMA 4 SHUR.

Someone to watch for no other reason then he is interesting.
