That's a strange…unexpected choice. I mean I didn't suspect Bale to show up again, but...Affleck? Wasn't expecting that. At least I hope he doesn't do the GRUMPY BALE VOICE.

Ben Affleck gets a second chance to be a superhero? Oh lord…...
-
Ben Affleck the writer and director = Great.
Ben Affleck the actor = Dear Lawd. Get it away! Get it away!
-
I thought you were joking.
….and then I found out you weren't.
Well. Can't be any worse than Daredevil, right?
Will Batman also go around snapping necks?

@RobbyBevard:

Whine, whine, whine. Bats killed Ra's in Begins. Been there, done that. People didn't throw a bitch fit then.

That was were very different from snapping the guys neck…. at least you can argue Bat's never directly killed Ra's and just let him be on his course to death. He never killed Ra's, he just didn't save him. What part of "I won't kill you, but I don't have to save you either" do you not understand?
-
My expectations are so low right now.

Technically Affleck was an actor in his movie too.
-
Affleck being directed by Suck Punch director following a script by Blade Trinity writer=Cinematic disaster waiting to happen.
-
I really don't know what to think. Half of my brain thinks: "JESUS!" and the other half thinks: "He's got his own talent, it's not fair to assume before seeing the movie."
And who knows, maybe his award-winning writer/director side might bleed off onto Synder and the rest a bit.
-
Technically Affleck was an actor in his movie too.
Affleck is an okay actor, and extra emphasis on "okay." However, if he's given a bad director and script he is a travesty.
-
This is "Heath Ledger as the Joker" all over again.

One can only hope. Pray to the stars.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for the good to do nothing.
Here's the deal, he didn't have to save the Joker in TDK, but he did. It really is as simple as that. But choosing not to save Ra's, he was choosing to let him die– he was condemning him to death-- he was killing him. It's the most out of character thing he ever did in the series. And, unlike Supes, he wasn't saving any lives (in that moment) by killing Ra's.

I know…? He's acted in all of his movies. That doesn't make him a good actor.

Here's two rebuttals.
1. Ben Affleck is not in the same league as Heath Ledger
2. Snyder is not in the same league as Chris Nolan.

It's just not the same thing, if anything, that actually worked since Bat's did save Ra's from death before. One needs to question if he was even able to save Ra's like was able to with the Joker(which he threw to near death before capturing him).

Well you're right about Ben Affleck not being in Heath Ledger's League. Talking overall body of work, Affleck is better than Ledger.

It would have ben easier for him to save Ra's than it was for him to save the Joker. Ra's was a foot in front of him. Instead of saying his line, all he needed to do was grab him and escape the same way he did. Boom. Easy as pie.
And it's entirely the same thing. If you were hanging off a cliff and I choose to let you fall to your death, I have killed you. Your life was ended because of the action (or inaction) I took. I murdered you. In the end, the only difference is semantics.

By playing a superhero in Daredevil, I have inoculated myself from ever playing another superhero… Wearing a costume was a source of humiliation for me and something I wouldn't want to do again soon.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Well I wouldn't want to do Daredevil 2 either.

Again, even if you accept that he did kill Ra's it's more suiting for a dark character of Bat's ilk. Your wrongly equivocating that to Supes outright snapping a guy's neck. Which doesn't really fit the character well, and don't give me the whole Snyder B.S Well this will make him the non-killing Superman we all know in the future." It doesn't matter, it was a badly written ploy by Goyer and Snyder to make the character edgier.

How is he not in the same league as Ledger? Because of Daredevil? Both actors have won countless awards and are both great actors. Just because you don't like him as Batman doesn't mean he's not a good actor.
-
Don't really get what's wrong with him being Batman.
Yeah he's an unexpected pick, but to me he's a far a good enough actor to play Batman.
And why do people blame him for Daredevil. That movie was directed and written by a really shitty director (Mark Steven Johnson also wrote it script for it too).
-
Well you're right about Ben Affleck not being in Heath Ledger's League**. Talking overall body of work**, Affleck is better than Ledger.
So? Quantity doesn't matter over quality. Roland Emmerich and Uwe Boll has made more films then Nolan and Duncan Jones. Quantity isn't a plus.
-
He also directed such fine masterpiece's such as Jack Frost, Ghost Rider and When in Rome.
-

Ben Affleck has been in many bad movies, and it's only with a good director he comes of as decent. With Gigil being one of the worst cases of acting of his entire career.
-

Talking quanity or quality, Affleck beats Ledger in both.
-
Man the internet is losing it's shit over this
-

twitch You are not going there. That's a can of worms that shouldn't be opened, man.
-

Yep, this really is the Heath Ledger is Joker riots all over again, I think someone said that earlier but there no better way to describe it. I bought into that hype last time and then Ledger blew me away. I won't get fooled twice and I'll judge Affleck after I see the movie.
-

….............
At this point, I'm not sure if you're joking or not. -
Yeah I just don't know why people are really losing there shit over this.
Heck we have't really gotten alot of news about the movie as a whole and people just want to write it off.
-
Considering the negative reception Steel got, Snyder as director, obvious studio pressure then these reactions are just.
-
….............
At this point, I'm not sure if you're joking or not.No killing joke here. Ledger had 2 great movie rolls and I can think of 4 for Affleck off the top of my head. Obviously we have different opinions on it so why don't we leave it at that.
-
So um…what sort of batman should we be expecting out of this? Will they be trying to EMULATE the Nolan/Bale Batman or will they go back to being goofy with the Burton+friends Batman or find some sort of goofy middle ground? I'm just overall curious what they intend on doing with Affleck Batman.
-
I really don't get the hate for Synder I think he's a good director. It also helps that for the most part all the major problem people have with Man of Steel to me come from the script and Synder can't really be blamed for that.
My only problem with the sequel is that Goyer is still there but I got hopes that after all the negative reaction will get him to right a better thought out script.
-
I'm through arguing with you, It's a waste.
However Affleck is a really great director, can't say much for his acting. I would like to see him direct this film.
-
I see a mix of Nolan and Keaton Batman in this one.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Do we got any idea if the script for this movie is even finished?
-

Snyder says they will be inspired by Miller's Batman in TDKR so expect the crazy sociopathic A-hole Batman to be emulated.

I would like to see them ideally shoot for the Batman from The Animated Series. Nolan's was the closest to this but it lacked somewhat the detective/super smart parts of him. However if what they say is true and are going for a more experience/seasoned Batman, we could see that.
-
Ben Affleck is a good actor if you have a good director along, he isn't great. But I don't know if he can portray the cynical hardened, Miller Batman. Would have gone with Richard Armitage. Oh well, can't get everything you want.
Oh yeah, Bryan Cranston for commissioner Gordon! Though that depends if Gordon will be in this and how much of Batman's world we will see.
-
Bryan Cranston said he want to play Lex.

Cranston could make a good Gordon. He might be able to pull off Lex Luthor too.
-
Heck Crayson played Gordan in Year One.
-
Can't we just put Christian Bale in the suit and have Kevin Conroy dub all his lines.
-
Cranston is too perfect for Gordon to be Lex, and let's not forget he's already played a bald bad guy in Breaking Bad.

That would be the ideal way to go indeed.
-

Both true, I'd be happy either way though. I highly doubt we'll get Gordon in this movie though.
-
So what if he's Walt from Breaking Bad. If he a good actor for the role why not cast him. I know I haven't really seen Breaking Bad but aren't Lex and Walt complete different.
-
I still would like to see Clooney try at the role again, only with a movie not blowing chunks around him this time.
-
Thoughts? I'm a little wary, but I love the Town and Argo so I'm okay. Also hope he directs the Batman solo films.
-
Wouldn't mind Clooney being Batman again but isn't he over 50? So I don't see WB ever doing it.
