Harry honestly was the only enjoyable thing about 3.
Really? I thought he was one of worst handled pieces of the film.
Gets amnesia from random bump in the head.
Gets redeemed through a random butler.

I meant he was hilariously entertaining, intentional or not.
"You guys are my best friends!"
"how is the pie sir?"
"Delicious."
I can't watch any part without laughing.
THANK YOU. I told my friend that this was forced drama. And he asked, "Why is that bad?"
Peter had an obsessed hard on for MJ, even after HIS BEST FRIEND dated her. The audience is supposed to believe that the genius peter parker (though they didn't harp on his intellect nearly as they should) is dumb enough to kiss Gwen Stacey in front of MJ and not see a problem with it?
Lol agreed. I don't know what's up with the audience finding appeal in love triangles.
I am gonna make a summary with what we have in Spiderman 3:
-Three triangle loves (Parker, Jane, Stacy)(Parker, Stacy, Eddy Brock)(Parker, Jane, harry)
Spiderman 3 was a mess… it should have been Harry vs Peter and that's it.
I like it when people try to blame Spiderman 3's problems on the Venom suit… when it had a ton of other problems... that were already in the first two movies. Bad acting, TERRIBLE costume choices, plot holes, horrid pacing, and continuous back and forth forced drama, long speeches from Aunt May, and character motivations that are all over the place and random, serving just to set up the action set pieces (which were admittedly pretty good generally.)
Really. For all the hype the films get, part 2 wasn't amazing by any means, and part 1 was downright bad. I disliked it the first time I saw it. Not with hindsight, or after thinking about it... I just didn't like it even the first time. The Weird Al song covers the story better in 3 minutes.
Seriously, that Goblin costume makes everything else impossible to take seriously.
I won't even get into Mary Jane appearing before Gwen Stacy. I understand the why on that, MJ had been married to Peter for 15 years in the comics at the time and was high profile as "the eventual girl Peter ends up with." I get that, and won't nitpick just because I know the comic material.
However. The Spectacular Spiderman cartoon did everything perfectly. Balanced a large cast multiple character threads, action seuences, the balance between Peter and Spiderman, had tons of wisecracks... I'll take the first 5 episodes of Spectacular (about 1 hour and 40 minutes) over the movie any day. So... I dunno what excuse the movies have.
Who's seen the trailer! It's got me really excited for this! It seems like they are gonna be taking a lot of stuff from the Ultimate universe(which isn't a bad thing) and Spectacular Spider-Man.
! seems Gwen is going to work at Conners lab like in Spectacular, and Richard Parkers work is going to effect Peter. We have the web-shooters so I wonder if it's going to be as simple as Peter finishing his fathers work that creates the web fluid? Possibly Peter's dad's research helps Conners finish his serum that turns him into the Lizard?
! Only problem is that Peter seems….quiet. One of my main problems against the first series of movies was he wasn't whipping out insults every minute. I mean he did to some degree, but not to a Spider-Man degree.

Can see the trailer here
Venom was the least of that movies problem.
Also, new trailer. Too much Mirror's Edge. And hand filmed.
Oh god. If they do another wimpy parker one more time…
The reason Peter Parker is one of my favorite superheroes is because he pretty much does EXACTLY what a nerd would do when he gets super powers. He goes back to school with confidence and shows Flash up constantly. He even beats him in a boxing match.
Heck any person would get a huge boost of confidence with new found abilities like that, and yet the movie Parker was such a wuss. I completely disregarded it and just enjoyed the movie for what it was, but that simply wasn't Peter.
Also... He was sometimes extremely strong in the movie and then weak the next, like they couldn't make up their mind. He held up part of a train, but beating up Green Goblin eluded him somehow.
Edit: Wow... it does look like Mirror's Edge. I really hope that scene's not in the movie.

Quoted for Truth. And for some reason Spectacular was cancelled. Probably because it was an actual quality cartoon something that the modern American cartoon market doesn't seem to want to have.
Robby what exactly are your thoughts on the new Spider-Man reboot? Do you think it will be good? Because I'm not exactly sure what to think, I just really want it to be good. I like the first two Spider-Man movies but that's probably just because I grew up with them so their flaws don't seem as clear to me. Most of the reasons people have brought up for why the Raimi films in general were mediocre are probably legitimate.
^go play maximum carnage for sega, and all will be answered….
Reading some "The Amazing Spiderman" wouldn't hurt either.

More to do with there being no network to pick it, where it was airing, and Disney buying Marvel all timing out against it. There aren't as many places to sell animated series nowadays. There's Cartoon Network and….

Haven't seen enough yet to judge.
Its a shame, cause Raimi knows how to make fun tv shows, but the Spidey movies lacked a lot of that FUN to have a lot of melodrama instead. Where was the sense of humor and fun of Evil Dead/Hercules/Xena/Jack of All Trades?

I've read pretty much all of the Ditko/Lee run so yeah I can check that off. I will be satisfied if they do what Spectacular does and take inspiration from a variety of sources. Classic Spider-Man, 80's Spider-Man, Ultimate Spider-Man, even the movies and cartoons. I just think it's a good idea to look at the full picture of Spider-Man and see what works and what doesn't to make the perfect movie. Just like Spectacular Spider-Man was the perfect cartoon. I'm still going to give the new Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon a try though even if I am a little bitter.
He made Xena? Wow… (I like Hercules, but not as much)
The crossover episodes were awesome.

Yeah I know there wasn't some kind of conspiracy that was out to get Spectacular cancelled it's just I'm still bitter about it. To me Spectacular Spider-Man is the Firefly of Western Animation.
And yeah we'll still need to wait for trailers to see if it'll be good. Considering the director and lead actor are both rising talents (Marc Webb got quite a bit of acclaim for 500 Days of Summer and Garfield was a lead actor in the beloved Social Network) things do look promising. But things can always get screwed up so I'm holding my breath.
Mark Webb interview.
MW: Peter Parker is a science whiz. If you look back to the early Stan Lee and Steve Ditko comics, he’s a nerd with big glasses. The idea of what a nerd is has changed in 40 or 50 years. Nerds are running the world. Andrew Garfield made a movie [called "The Social Network"] about it. Nerds are no longer pariahs and knowing how to write computer code is longer a [mocked] quality. What was important in those early comics was this notion that Peter Parker is an outsider and how we define that in a contemporary context. That, I think, was one of the challenges for us — getting Peter Parker’s outsider status to be current. Peter Parker is a real kid. He’s not a billionaire. He’s not an alien. He’s a kid who gets picked on and gets shoved to the outside. The 90-pound weakling, that’s who Spider-Man is when he gets bit. So much of the DNA of the character is the fact that he was a kid when he got bit. He is imperfect, he is immature and has a bit of a punk rock instinct. In his soul he’s still a 90-pound weakling even after [the transformative bite].
My favorite part.
Also teaser(Low quality)

Uh. Oh
Mine's too I'm praying that they at least get that Spider-Man 3 taste out of my mouth.

Oh crap the world ends with superheroes! This movie will be released in the same month as Dark Knight Rises!

high quality Teaser trailer same as one as the others I'm sure
I dunno guys, it looks like they're going the Christopher Nolan approach and making this quite serious. Don't think we're gonna be getting our wisecracking Spiderman.
The trailer looks cool and all, but I can't help but feel like it's way too soon to see this "rebooted". It could be awesome, but it's like, I just saw this.
"In his soul he’s still a 90-pound weakling even after [the transformative bite]."
Except he's not. When Peter finds out he has super powers, he becomes cocky as all get out. I really hope he's not like this the whole movie.
Doesn't look any more remarkable than the first installations (which weren't remarkable by any means).
I know its just a teaser, but for some reason it feels….
Smallvillish . I know this will be portraying Peter Parker as this realistic dude with father issues, but man that teaser felt kinda depressing and somber which adds to my fear of this not having much fun. Either way, uncle Ben might kick the bucket near the end of this film.
This trailer makes me sad….
I don't think Spider-Man's gonna be making jokes...
I was more excited about this before the trailer. Now I'm a little wary of any potential problems.
Hmmmm, what to think?
On the one hand I think it looks generally good, and I do like the little action bit at the end there (although that's likely just for the trailer and not in the actual movie), but like many others I fear yet another "broody, emo Peter." Yes, Peter is an outcast, but he's not supposed to be overly depressed about it. I'm hoping this just just for the teaser and that the movie has a more wisecracking Peter in it.
I mean really, did nobody in the studio watch the old 90s cartoon?
@Thousand:

The second film was a gem. GEM I tell you!
The thing is we never really got 'spider-man' in the films. The first movie just had Peter all awkward. He couldn't get the girl, had a creepy guy stalking him, and….was just awkward. By the second film I believe they got 'Peter Parker' down. He had a nerd, a genius, but always busy with Spider-Man stuff. He had to deal with his personal problems with MJ, Harry, and Aunt May. What I like about Spider-Man is that he's more than just a symbol, a hero. He's not like Superman where he had a personal persona but we look up to the Superman, we can relate with Peter Parker AND Spider-man. We just....never got Spider-Man. By the third film he was just whining the entire time. We never got a Spidey that would make a joke about Sandman getting sand in certain places, or a Spidey that would have Norman Osborn screaming at him to just shut up. We got Peter Parker with powers, but not Spider-Man.
I mean really, did nobody in the studio watch the old 90s cartoon?
You need to try and catch the most recent cartoon, Spectacular Spiderman. It was amazing and fired on all cylinders. Its all on dvd, but only the first season is in a season set. The second season episodes are out, but in individual dvds of 3 episodes for whatever reason. Fantastic 26 episodes through and through,(well, one episode I felt was a dud out of the 26.) Its everything spiderman is supposed to be.
The 90's show blews(sorry spectacular is just superior). Its okay, but it was not definitive like the Batman 90's animated show. The Spectacular was the modern equivalent to the Batman 90's show and it got axed mercilessly which pissess me off and now why have a new one headed by JEPH LOEB.
Anyway, the problem with the teaser is that it essentially doesn't really have that fun and wonder to it at least not so far. Then again some teasers of the Riami series were pretty serious maybe the trailer will so more wonder, hottdamn I miss Jonah! I want him!
I don't think we're getting "Depressed Peter", I think we're getting "Cocky for the first half of the film Peter". We saw that one image with him angry with Flash so I think it's just setting up so that the film will end with him really becoming Spider-Man. Didn't wish it was that way….but I guess it works for setting up a series of films. on the other hand when there is an entire OTHER series of Spidey films to compare it to...
Just caught this from comingsoon.net liveblog.
Interesting start for ASM panel with Garfield dressed up as Spider-Man and pretending to be a fan. He said he wanted to have a fan's view because that's what he is and he read a piece he wrote.
@Andrew:
I owe the webhead a lot. I owe Stan the Man a lot.
This is definitely the coolest moment of my life and thanks for being here to share it with me.

Teaser poster.

That spider design just doesn't do it for me.
It looks too….robotic?

Eh, looks like their tying Peters parents disappearance/death with either Lizards origin, or Gobbies, or maybe possibly both.
Maybe they developed a Lizard serum that is the failed predecessor to the serum the Goblin will use in this reboot verse(when refined). I want Norman to appear in this but not Goblin yet, just as a shrewd Lex Luthorish Industrialist and Harry can appear in like the sequel.

The legs are too long!
Also the Lizard was shown and he's going look more like his first appearance except more muscular. Here's a pic for imagination purposes.

Hmm, the Lizard alone does not really carry that much weight as a villain to carry this film.
I suspect a mastermind working in the shadows, Irahn Khan character Van Adder is the best candidate for that, but I expect him to be corrupt scientist that gives Connor the Lizard serum, suggest it to him or not and be somewhat related to the deaths of Petes parents.
There was a lot of clips including Uncle Ben putting Pete on blast when he notices Gwen and recognized her from Pete's computer. Pete and Gwen flirt it's cute the end.
Spider-Man making a joke towards a criminal.
Criminal: "Are you a cop?"
Spider-Man: "Really?!" You think the guy sitting here in red and blue spandex is a cop?"
Outside the car, a guy pulls a knife on Spider-man.
He falls to his knees, mocking the guy and begging, "A knife?! No, no, no! Please! Not a knife!"
He webs the guy to a wall, casually, firing webs like its second nature. He shoots one web while mimicking a sneeze.
I kinda half-hoping this fails, so the rights go back to marvel but other me really wants a truly great Spidey film out of this.
I guess I'll wait and see.

Holy shit! That's Spider-man!
So we got our wise-cracking Spidey!??????
It's coming off like Spider-man meets Scooby-Doo with catching the monster and solving the mystery in my eyes.
My hope for this film just shot up greatly after reading that!
Now all we need is a theme rivaling Elman's and I'm sold.
Holy shit! That's Spider-man!
It got the best reaction out of the clips. Pete is definitively a loner from what I read from the panel. Let me see if I can find the liveblog again.
Oh yea Ghost Rider's gonna suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck hard.

They're not remaking Ghost Rider? GOD WHY? Worst cast ever.
This movie sounds glorious.
I laughed at the web sneeze.
More screaming on this one but it has the whole speech.
