Hiroy Descriminates Art once Again ver2

it looks really cool. Lines are so neat and colors are beautiful.
-
That coloring is fucking impressive. I assume it was colored digitally? Color me jealous. ^^
-
So the people have to park there or die?
Awesome by the way, I recently started following you on Tumblr.)
-

Thanks. Nailing those two things was very time consuming, but well worth it.

Yup. 100% digital. Vector lines and colors. There are methods to make it look traditional, but it would not work methinks… I was intending to go for a vector look that was inspired by a style I came accross by an artist on pixv. I'll make mention of it once I learn a bit more and do more drawings like this.
@nodensuke:

Yeah, it's a cursed parking lot. People disappear when they park there, leaving their cars there to be towed. There's another silly sign in there too, but it's too small and obscured for any kind of view.
What's your tumblr btw? I didn't see you pop up on my recent followers, but I know some people would rather keep their blogs private. Thanks for the follow tho =:3 -

I spent like 10 minutes trying to make out the yellow sign behind it, I came to the conclusion that it was a man/woman chasing an ostrich (way off, I know!)..
My tumblr is called galacticterrarium (It's mostly just for One Piece/random crap/music). I don't think it's private, though I could have accidentally clicked something by mistake.. -
Ah, I see it now. I got the message on my SS blog, rather than my main art one. I keep forgetting those two are separate but the same.
I like your idea that you think it's a woman chasing an ostrich. Much better than what I actually wrote on it, lol. -
So gorgeous!!! How was the experience of inking digitally for you? This was one of your first times right?
-
Nyah. I have inked on the computer before, but I hated every single method I used. From freehand, to Photoshop's pen tool. There's no point trying to get used to something I hate doing. Piant Tool SAI however had this really neat pen tool feature. You can quickly place points, edit them, adjust pressure, weight and so on. So from now on, SAI is going to be my main tool for vector lines. I still want to do freehand though, but I'm going to have to atleast spend a few weeks in Comic Studio(Manga Studio). The pens are great in the program, but the program itself is another puzzle(saving file formats, and so on).
You can say this is the first digital ink project I worked really hard on. I had so much fun doing it, even though it was a tad bit different to see how much time it takes. And it's something I can be better at too.

Didn't realize you had two, followed! -
really nice work!! it looks really great :D
-
I can't tell what the yellow street sign says, but I like the trash bin that appears to say "hidden in base#–"
-
Oh, you're using SAI too. It's most convenient program I worked with, especially when it comes to inking.
Lol, books!
-
That looks really really good. I feel happy just looking at it~

@Nia:
Loving the pigeon there :DD
Hehe. I could not think of a bird more classier than a pigeon, but I really had another bird in mind to be honest. I just didn't get its shape right and the colors didn't look too good on it… So yeah. It evolved into a pigeon.
The bird I had in mind is the Kiskadee. It's a cool bird too, because it actually cries/sings its own name. Like a Pokemon. Best bird ever!

The sign is really just a woman chasing her kid. It says "Dumb Kids" in bold right at the bottom of it, to warn drivers. It's eh… a joke towards something I did as a kid. Me and my mom were waiting to cross the street, and me... being the idiot I was tried to cross and nearly got ran over. She never stopped holding my hand until I was a little less dumb. So yeah... joke sign.
And trash can is a reference to another thing. Mostly Leo related.
really nice work!! it looks really great :D
Thank you =:3

Yeah. It's lacking a few features, but I think the lack of of those features makes the final work look a little more traditional than organic. Not sure if that makes sense…
That looks really really good. I feel happy just looking at it~
That's all I can ever ask for in return when it comes to works like these :)
And eh. Sorry for quoting everyone. I was about to pick a few, but I could not resist.

WE R the Robots!!
This was incredibly fun to draw, and I’d like to thank my good bud for commissioning me to do it. There’s some really popular robots, and some obscure ones(or just one) that were all chosen by what we personally liked.

That's pretty damn awesome man. Your comment, though, makes me feel it needs some Kraftwerk. Here, let me help with that:
!
! No, wait, that looks horrible. Shit, let me put that back to normal…
! >!
! Fuck, that still isn't right…
! >!
! Okay, I am really not sure how that happened. Fuck, shit, let me just fix it right-ways-
! >!
! Phew. Good as new! -
Oh god. I wasn't expecting a reply with this amount of originality before.
True story. I read this while tilting my chair(habit I have), and then fell over on the floor in tears.
And I'm not sure if I'm laughing, or really crying in pain(or sorrow). F'ing Amazing! -
INCREDIBLE.
There's so much energy in the characters and the color!
-
You're awesome.
The end.
Also your friend might like Atomic Robo. Not trying to plug it's just a really good robot main character. -

Thank you very much guys. That piece took a while, and I'm not very pleased with that. The final result was great, but I can't help but feel I could have spent less time on it. That, and looking at my art from last year. It was consistently good, and with very small improvements. Right now I'm looking for an even bigger level up. I remember an artist making a fine Pokemon analogy, and it's one of the lessons I keep very close to me. When you level a Pokemon up to a certain point, it becomes harder for it get stronger if you are fighting the same weak monster. So it's either you grind it out forever on those weak monsters, or move on to facing ones of higher level for more experience.
My new goal this year is to back to the basics and pick up on the stuff that I found was way too challenging for me. Perspective, architecture, design, ect. It's going to be a 6 month long study, but it could go on longer depending on how I'll pursue it. So yeah, it's going to be a year of discovery… but also a tad bit boring. I'll certainly make stuff worth the visit every now and then, and I'm definitely keeping commissions going. So it's not always going to be full on studies.
I'm uncertain if I'll keep the thread updated with this stuff, but if you want, you can follow me on my newer tumblr for these... boring studies. It might be interesting to some though. Anyhows. ART!
Studies

[/hide]This week it's perspective(boring stuff I'll never scan), and cars (not so boring stuff I'll scan). Most of this kind of stuff would be posted on this new tumblr: http://bunnyhoppie.tumblr.com/
And oh
Happy New Year, or something.
-
@Syn: D'awwww
And it's great to know you're pushing yourself more on those kinda things too. I've really been needing to do the same.
-
Can you draw Gamzee for us, Hiroy?
-
do you do commissions?

Yeah, but I'll let you and another person that was interested know in a couple of weeks. All my slots are currently full.

Beautiful. I especially love the color on the Gravity Falls characters at the bottom…I still really need to watch that show.
You can tell they're not in a well-lit area. I love how that kind of color can make a darker and edgier look even to a couple of wide-eyed cartoon characters. Much nicer than only throwing in bright colors all the time like I tend to do.

Then start watching it :3
http://animeflavor.com/index.php?q=node/39282Thanks. Not sure what to say though. I never really intended any effect or anything. Just playing around with my favorite brush, s'all. It has quite a bit of blending options, so I can take dark colors, dab them over lighter colors, and then color pick mixed colors for shading. It's fun, especially if you don't erase, use one layer and go wild without caring for outlines ^^
I really need to practice on scenery, but I have yet discovered a default brush that pleases me for hard edged brushing. The "watercolor brush" tends to lose control for small details.

I really like your character designs. They are what drew me to this thread in the first place from elsewhere. It also made me check out your webcomic Sinful Sinner. You have a real talent for storytelling and nice comedic timing. Can't wait to see more from you.

Hello thar thread.
I never expected it to be bumped ,
even though activity is at a complete halt.
Why stop now? Studying perspective hurts my head.
How much more could I handle before I'm completely slumped?
Ideas all in my mind to get on paper. Distraction it is. It's all my fault.
Alive but not dead. Why stop now?

Heya. I've never seen you around here before. Thank you.
You are from Barbados? So cool! Welcome! I'm not sure if we talked on the forums or anything, but welcome my fellow islander. I'm Trinidadian blood myself, and it's always nice to meet more island peeps on this forum. You have quite a portfolio too. Your art is cool :)Why did I only notice this now? That's a fantastic Eriko on the right. :D
I waited this long for you to notice that? I wan't to say ,"shame on you!" or something like that. Fortunately for you, it was worth the wait. Illbleed is a gem.
-
Ah thanks. I'm a major lurker on these here threads but i aim to post more. i'm glad you like my art. I have a comic online too. I hope you can check it out when you have the time ;)
-
I am in great envy of your ability to draw cars. :U
Loving the group pic~!
-
@Ms. Anne Thrope: Sure. I skimmed over several pages and it seems interesting. I'll remember to put aside some time to read it fully.
@Moke: Drawing cars is like drawing a box with modifications :D I assure you, it's alot easier than it looks. I might make a silly little tutorial, just for this thread. Also
Something that started off as a sketch for a Valentine's card. I'm pretty sure I know what's going on here, but I'm ashamed to explain it.
-
Teach me your secrets. Cars hate me ;3;
Oh really now? I want to know the story behind this now. Message me if you must, but I want answers XDDD
But yeah, seriously love the pic. And not just because Duck Hunt was the only game I loved which I could actually manage to hold my own against my brother at lol
-
Hrrm.
Well. It's a followup of an ongoing thing I do every year, starting 2 years ago.
2011: http://fav.me/d39eb0r
2012: http://fav.me/d4pphxcEvery year, Leo gets Syn a daisy. Syn hates daisies. Not by grudge, but because they are daisies and they grow everywhere during spring.
Anyway, Tia randomly gifts Syn an overpriced Valentine(figure out what XD) at the same moment Leo comes back with his ongoing gag of a gift.
Now she's conflicted between the two. Instead of just trying to choose, she attempts to use her imagination to escape from this mess.
She thinks about Duck Hunt,
since everyone's childhood is empty without Duck Hunt.
Then it becomes Cupid Hunt.
Cuz f*** Valentine's Day
Then the high score score,
something,
loses aim,
suddenly that dog,
okay,
I swear everything is connected and make sense one way or another and it's not all that random.
Well, maybe except the dog. He was random.Main point? Tia gave Syn the perfect thing for Valentine's day, and this image is all just what I'd imagine would be some kind of mental breakdown.
-
That is the best description of a pic…. ever XDD
-
Happy post Valentine peoples. Here's a set of Cue Card Comics.
-
awwwwww
those are so cutee<33 -
Lol! I can honestly say I've never had anyone compliment me on how I draw their butts.
I'll have to harass my bff about this now XD -
awwwwww
those are so cutee<33Hehe. Indeed.
It was especially fun to do. Especially making a drawing style for Tia. I wish I can draw that good.Lol! I can honestly say I've never had anyone compliment me on how I draw their butts.
I'll have to harass my bff about this now XDYour chums has to be self aware in awe at the immense mass of thier own rumps before making such compliments.
:T Maybe they all have small butts and are shy about it? Good luck breaking the ice there. -
Lol trust me, my bff is even nuttier than me. Imagine me times 3 XD
-
The "I hate you" card is probably my fave.
-
The psycho-looking guy is definitely my fave. Now..if only I can think of someone to send the card to….
-
hahaha nice cards~ i really like the hate you one haha, i can think of a few people to send that one too
-
Glad you
guysgirls liked the cards. They were good practice before getting into comics agian.I'm still practicing, but thank X)A couple of girls. Baby 5 and Alicia(Valkyire Profile 2).
I wish I drew her theighs thicker, but ohwell. It was a doodle. -
nice coloring on the second piece! i love that outfit
-
I really like the Alicia one. The colours of her outfit are wonderful.
Baby G's legs (I'm not sure whose thighs you were referring to) seem a little odd, like they're too straight and set apart too far.
-
Thanks. I love her colors alot too.
And trapped, I was talking about Alicia. She has pretty meaty legs in the game. It's either that, or her leggings are made of some really thick material.
[hide]
[/hide]:T When thinking of stylizing a character, I think about exaggeration. Alcia was a challenge because her original design already had so much detail, and it was hard to break down in simple shapes. Especially in half shots… something I don't really do very often or at all. If I did a full shot, I probably would have fared experimenting with the design a little better.
That brings me to baby 5. Yeah. I should have made the thighs a little closer together. And you are right about them being too straight. I was going for an "at-ease stand" to make up for how heavy the design is on the upper half, but wasn't sure how to strongly balance the weight with high heels supporting them.
