Yeah, they showed the Laboon plush a month or two ago. I really want it!
Funimation dvd discussion II ( UPDATED 8/4/12, FIRST POST FOR F.A.Q)
-
-
I finally finished S3V4. I think it has one of my favorite commentaries.
Hearing J Michael Tatum pretend to order drive-thru in the Eneru voice is just the best thing ever.
The second best thing is hearing Colleen Clinkenbeard pipe up in Luffy-voice and ask for chicken nuggets.
-
Talk about of fan service, yikes.
This Shanks Flag and Luffy notebook are neat though.
What No Nami or Robin Body pillows ?
-
What No Nami or Robin Body pillows ?
There's one for nami. Robin hasn't had the…honor....just yet.
-
If my girlfriend ever saw me with one of those body pillows she would probly drop me. I might risk one of those boob mousepads.
Is it possible that maybe episode 206 was actually made in widescreen but for time restraints they just aired it in fullscreen? Maybe that would splain some of the 206:207 confusion. If so I would hope they just start with 207 on blueray. -
I don't know why I didn't think of this before but a thought occurred to me:
207 is where we know episodes start in HD, right? So it would be easy to put those on BluRay because the wouldn't need to be upscaled. So you'd think Funimation would consider that.
Except (and someone who's more up to date on the Japanese release PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong) they haven't released any One Piece BluRays (outside of the movies). Japan and the United States share a region, which means if Funimation gave us One Piece TV BluRays that's like Toei begging for reverse importation, which they don't want.
Thoughts?
-
Then I guess I'll just spend my money on Dragon Ball Kai on Blu ray and support Toei that way cause it's pretty pointless to buy DVD when HD is available. Hey Toei I got money hear in my wallet! Do you want it or not?
I'll add this rant. Anime was the last to adopt dvd and it seems they are going to be the last to adopt bluray. What the hell man? Sony a Japanese company champions bluray and they don't put anything out for it? What the hell? Go to rightstuf and look up their bluray anime, it's one freekin page, mostly movies. What the hell man? -
Toei did just start releasing DVD boxsets of the series in Japan. I doubt they'd want blu-ray releases available before they put them out themselves.
-
If the rumor of episodes is true, I don't think we will be getting Blu-ray and will question if we are getting more episodes.
If the rumor isn't true and 206 is on the box-set, then it is possible.
King Calamari: We got movie 8 on Blu-ray here first.
-
I knew about that but it was just a single film that had already been on DVD for a while in Japan. They then announced Blu-Ray releases for every single movie that exact same year.
-
@Dixxy:
Hey look guys, more merchandise. Anyone still think we're not getting more DVDs?
Edit: http://www.geanimation.com/InfoOnly/ProductDetails.aspx?ItemID=8966
LABOON PLUSHIE! LABOON PLUSHIE!
Than will hopefully be getting some news on DVD's soon, um the next saga coming up is a pretty fun one too. I have a feeling I know how they'll hanndle the DVD's  goes to look for a Luffy pillow
-
Rightstuf.com said that Voyage 5 contains eps. 196-205. So I guess that means they're planning on continuing One Piece to finish up the Navarone arc and make Season 4 First Voyage a 14 ep. set so it would end right after the Davy Back Fight arc and the next set would contain the Ocean's Dream & Foxy's Return fillers and end after episode 232 where Kaku tells Luffy, Nami, and Usopp the Merry can't be fixed. But that's just a guess.
-
Let's rewind to 2007 when FUNi got One Piece. Then they licensed episodes 144 - 205 initially.
So it doesn't tell us anything.
-
Rewinding: mrrrrwwweepp
2007 144-205 gets licenced and dubbing starts at breakneak pace for tv viewing on September 2007-cancled around March 2008. Manly tears shead.
Somewhere along the way they go ahead and licence episode 1-143 and dub for DVD release.
Stoping: Clunk!
April 2010 final episode of box sets released. Manly tears shead. You know doing the math Funimation was able to dub close to one episode per week. Back in 2007 Japan hadn't even finished Water 7, Eniess Lobby.
-
I just hope that we continue the series. I'm sure if more people buy One Piece we won't have to wait too long. I was on amazon.com recently and saw that some of the early One Piece sets are almost out of stock! I can only see this as a good thing!
-
This schedule on their official blog lists eps. 196-206

Yeah, with all the sources stating 206, I'd like to believe the set will include 206.
If Funi does stop dubbing One Piece (which is only a possibility, not a probability, so don't anyone overreact), then episode 206 would be a far better ending point than 205.
-
If FUNimation did stop, then why would they have episode 206?
-
When's the next big con FUNi is attending?
-
This post is deleted!
-
Any news on when the Laboon plushie is gonna be released? I will cry the day I get it.
-
When's the next big con FUNi is attending?
There are a few big cons Easter weekend, but between now and then I'm not sure.
Seeing new merchandise (while it isn't Season 4, First Voyage) is probably a better sign than not, though. But being vocal at cons and ESPECIALLY buying the DVDs if you can and haven't already is the best way to get their attention if you're concerned about the fate of the series.
-
Could be a typo on the blog.
It says 205 on onepieceofficial.com in two locations.
-
Well the thing is we got a episode title for 206 from Netflix and also Shoenen Jump from a month or two ago said the set have episode 206 on it as well. I still think we are going to get 206 on the set.
-
It would make sense they put eps. 196 - 206 in. If they do then if/when Season 4: First Voyage comes out it'll contain all thirteen episodes of the Davy Back Fight arc. Plus it would just give us all the Navarone episodes instead of waiting for the last episode of that arc.
-
It is still all on the assumption that the DVDs sold well enough to license more episodes.
-
Well, if they have licensed 206 and it wasn't in the original grouping, then I don't see why they can't put the usual 13 episodes on the set.
-
@Badass:
Well, if they have licensed 206 and it wasn't in the original grouping, then I don't see why they can't put the usual 13 episodes on the set.
Because 206 is the end of Season 3. At least that's my understanding of it.
-
Yeah, I don't understand why they would leave out the last episode of season 3. I thought season 4 would be all the eps. made into 16:9. So even though 205 was the last episode they licensed, the last Navarone episode would still be out there. But we have no confirmation. http://onepieceofficial.com says that the last set of season 3 has 196 - 205. But a bunch of other sites say that 206 is in there but as other people have said previously on the thread that they might have been mistaken.
But whatever the outcome is I'll be content.
-
I heard Amazon One Piece DVD's were sold out nearly, which I take that as a good thing for more seasons. About 206 it really wouldn't make sense at all if they left that one out, its the last episode of that season come on.
-
I find it hilarious for there to be such a confusion over the episodes in S3V5 since it is the turning point for the series here in the west. It is almost as if the information itself is torturing us.
-
Torture is the right word. If I don't hear anything soon I'm equiping my ninja gear and sneaking into the Funimation office to rifle through the papers, mission impossible style.
When the cops catch me, and they will, it's their job, tell my poor mom in heaven that I'm doing ok. -
It's a good thing I'm an optimistic. Seriously, some of you guys are worrying too much.
Just try and stay positive. -

I know I noticed that too

Here is a list of reasons why we should remain positive (since that seems to be the current trend):
1. One Piece is being pushed alongside the Dragonball franchise as part of a "Dream Team"
2. We keep getting new merchandise! Why would Funimation put out more and more merchandise if they didn't think there was a large enough customer base to justify the investment?
3. That interview on Anime News Network I posted where one of the Funimation PR guys said and I quote "We're not dropping One Piece" and said the sales were doing good.
4. Someone asked about Strong World at one of the summer cons and it sounded like that was in negotiations.Stay positive!

Until we get an announcement of "Season 4 Voyage 1" people will continue to speculate and worry.
I'm hoping for "One Piece, Season 4, Voyage 1 on Blu-ray"

I'm still unsure if I would pick up the TV series on Blu-ray. Maybe if they offer them at a cheaper price, then yeah. I mean, I've seen lots of Funimation's Blu-ray releases that are cheaper than the DVD counterpart…strange, but it definitely helps in the decision-making.

I think that's always been the case with Movie 8, actually XD
-
I'm hoping for "One Piece Season Four Complete Box Set" in a packaged deal with Strong World (And all the other movies, including the 3D one) and all the TV Specials, all with widescreen, in DVD, Blu-Ray, VHS, LaserDisc, and a live stage performance at a local theater. All for under twenty bucks, or else it's too expensive. Preferably within the next few months, with a similar Season Five set with special collector's editions of the movies not too long after.
Or, you know, a confirmation that new episodes will be released. That's nice too.

maybe for season 4 they could start releasing 26 episode box sets .Personaly what i think would be great is if they did a complete water 7 saga box set and then later on ennies lobby.I know it won't happen but this lack of news is killing me.Lol i have been following this discussion for ages without actualy joining the forum
-
My main concern is that with only a month away from the final release of season 3, the last couple of interviews and commentaries with voice cast indicate that they aren't doing any One Piece dub work.
-
Funimation has to keep looking over their shoulders for one piece fans ."Season four better happen or your company sales going down" the fans saying.also when they did this season it was in 08 people. They recorded these first remember. Bleach had breaks to but they came back after a while. ChiLLLLLL

Not going to happen. A complete season set would cost hundreds of dollars and four disc sets would cost at least a hundred, too. Until FUNimation can make back money from a smaller release (two-disc sets), they won't release four-disc (or more) sets.
-
I always thought it would be a cool idea to have an arc per set. I know it would never happen, and it is terrible for marketing, but it is a cool idea.
-
I don't think we'll get complete arc or season sets of One Piece anytime soon. But if FUNimation decided to make season 4 on blu-ray I'd totally buy that it sounds like a great idea, but that's just a what-if. Still the only way we'll get more episodes soon is if we buy more of their One Piece DVDs. One Piece is selling out on http://amazon.com, so we're heading in the right direction. Sgt. Frog was on a long hiatus but just got picked up for another season.
-
O_O One Piece season 2 voyages are 12-20$ on Amazon right now!
-
I really hope episode 206 is on Season Three Fifth Voyage. Just so I can see this scene dubbed.
