Ummm yea. Anyway, in the case we don't have a time skip how do you see the chapters shaping up? I think it would ultimately be a lot more difficult for Oda to shift from scene to scene and show all the different characters of the One Piece world reacting to this changing times. Sooner or later it might get to the point where its dragging on or it seems like some things are left out and not getting enough attention. That is why the idea of a time skip seems so easy to do. It would be a lot easier to handle the transition this way

This, several times over. I wasn't a fan of the time skip option (I think I even voted No on this poll) but now I'm down with it. I just hope it isn't too long - and not for most of the reasons I've seen. I just don't want Luffy to be approaching his twenties so quickly. 20-year-old Luffy…just doesn't feel right. Luffy needs to stay a teenager in my opinion.
But, yeah, I really don't see any other option at this point. My guess is that we'll get two or three more chapters of postwar reactions and the Supernova Chronicles and then we'll learn the secret of time travel.
-
Luffy's age doesn't really matter to me. He has always been acting much younger then his intended age to me anyway. As long as there isn't any huge personality changes or changes in what anyone believes in I don't care how the long it is. I personally believe that the Strawhats adventure thus far has been around 4 month more or less. If the time skip is going to last until the new year, and it has begun immediately on, or after Luffy's 17th birthday, then it might be September in the One Piece world. If it is indeed September we may see a time skip of 3-5 months

I'd been wondering about this for a bit, and an idea came up: what if it wasn't one large skip, but a series of smaller ones, with particular major events piling on each other as the skip happens. It might even be going on right now with these recent chapters.
Of course, it'll be fine if it's only one main skip. Either way works, though I prefer the first option.
-
If the 16 chimes signifies the time to regroup which is the new year then it'll be comparable in months not years.
Which im sure most everyone at this point would accept.
I just personally want a few chapters after the time skip to buffer the reunion.

If Oda did that it'd be like he's montaging events as he skips through time until he gets to a time he wants to stop at. What you're really talking about is just what he did a couple chaps back when he skipped to 2 weeks later, which isn't a time skip.
When there's a time skip in a work of fiction it's almost a feeling of starting over. There are re-introductions, a whole new setting and a feel of a fresh start so to speak while keeping in mind everything that happened before the time skip.

I only want timeskip on onepiece is when luffy and his crew already got onepiece and became th pirate king already then we can see how they are all doing
-
That's a shame since the timeskip will come.

@Rea:
Seeing as it took a year for Luffy to get from being unknown to having a 300belli price tag on his head, everything that happened up to now, took about a year. 2 years would definitely mess with the pace it is going.
It hasn't been a year. It's been like 3 or so months IIRC

wat
When did Oda ever reveal how long the Strawhats have been on their journey?
Never, IIRC.

Seems like it should be more in the 6-12 month range. Keep in mind they travelled half of the circumference of their world while making various stops.
I suppose it is plausible, that since the white sea seems to move with the clouds that they were actually allowed to skip a good distance of the first half of the grandline while they were up there.

I remember reading something that explained how it has only been 3 or so months. I'm looking for it now; I'll post something when I find it.
Found it. It was actually from this forum haha. http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=6416&page=3I revised Roman Zaenom's timeline from Little Garden to Enies Lobby, with the corrections from Mavado and Ivotas. It works out to about 30 something days to the END of Enies Lobby when they see the Galleyla ship in 430.
DAY 1
SH meet Dorry and Brogy, fight Mr.3, Nami is stung by a mosquitoDAY 2
SH meet Wapol
(ch130 p.18 : says that one day has passed)DAY 3
Arrival at Drum, SH meet Chopper and leave Drum the same night
(ch132 p.03 : Usopp asks about Wapol that they met the day before)
(ch135 p.13 : Chess confirms on Drum they saw the SH the day before)
(ch139 p.12 : Kureha says it's the third day of incubation of Nami's virus)DAY 8
SH meet Mr.2
(ch156 p.01 : it's been 5 days since they left Drum)DAY 12
SH arrive at Alabasta, visit Nanohana and sleep at Yuba. BW gather at Spider's Cafe.
(ch157 p.02 : Zoro says they haven't eaten for 4 days. We know they already didn't have food when they met Mr.2, 5 days after they left Drum. So, Day12 is the latest time they could have reached Alabasta)
(ch160 p.05 : BW is said to meet at 20pm the same day at Spider's Cafe)
(ch 161 p.04 : The SH reach Elumalu hours before BW gather at SC)
(ch 161 p.05 : Vivi says there's still half a day before they reach Yuba)DAY 13
Baroque Works gather at Rain Base, SH in the desert
(ch160 p.05 and ch165 p.15 : on day 12, Crocodile said the Utopia Mission would start "the day after tomorrow at 7am" and here tells BW it will happen "tomorrow at 7am", which means it is day 13 when BW meet Crocodile)
(ch167 p.18 : when the SH are in the desert, there's 17 hours left before Utopia, which means it's 1pm)DAY 14
Day of the Rebellion, BW defeated
(ch168 p.01 : the sun sets then rises again)
07:00am (ch170 p.18 : Utopia Mission begins)
10:00am (ch180 p.08 : storm in Yuba, 5h left before rebels reach Alubarna)
11:00am (ch180 p.10 : SH cross river Sandora with crab, 4h left)
12:00pm (ch180 p.15 : Karue and ducks join the SH, 3h left)
15:00pm (ch173 p.01 : Crocodile said at 7am the rebels would reach Alabasta in 8 hours : 15pm)
16m30pm (see the clock when the bomb explodes or Crocodile is defeated)DAY 17
Luffy wakes up, they party and leave at midnight exactly
(ch213 p.8 : Luffy slept for 3 days and missed 15 meals)
(ch214 p.13 : Nami tells Vivi they'll meet at 12pm the next day in 12h, so it's midnight when the SH leave Alubarna)DAY 18
Ace joins Buggy. Shichibukai gather at Marie-Joa. SH leave Alabasta at 12pm, Robin joins immediately after, a ship falls from the sky a few minutes after that and they meet Masira the same day. Then they go to Jaya and meet Bellamy. At night, Luffy defeats Bellamy.
(ch229 p.10 & 13 : Cricket says that when it becomes dark in Masira's territory, the knock-up stream happens the day after, so we know the SH are on Jaya the same day they met Masira - yes, the same day they left Alabasta!)
(ch233 p.07 : The same day before Bellamy gets beaten, we see Ace join Buggy's crew and the meeting at Marie-Joa, then we go back at Jaya at night where Blackbeard beats Sarquiss and leaves Jaya to capture Luffy)DAY 19
Knock-Up stream, SH in Skypiea, Satori's trial of orbs, Party at night
(ch235 p.13 : knock-up stream at 10:00am)DAY 20
Survival, Luffy defeats Eneru, Party the same night
(ch254 p.12 : Eneru says on day 19 the Shandia will attack again the day after)
(ch300 p.12 and 15-16 : Night time already, party)From Skypea to Long Ring Long Land
(ch301 p.1: The celebration lasts for +- several days)
They leave Skypea in the morning and get attacked by Sea Monkeys the moment they land on sea. Those same three Sea Monkeys sunk the Frog Captain's boat right before they reach Long Ring Long Land. So, they're not too far away. (+ several days)Long Ring Long Land : 1 day
Day 1 : meet Tonjit, Davy Back Fight, fight Ao KijiFrom LRLL to Water Seven
(Ch322 p.1: they spent another 4 days moored on LRLL, and sailed for 2 days more days. On the third day, they hit Kokoro's lighthouse.) (+ 6 days)Water Seven : 2 full days
Day 1 : meet Kokoro and Iceburg, fight Franky Family, Usopp leaves, Iceburg shot
Day 2 : fight Franky, CP9 attacks at night, Aqua Laguna, Rocket ManEnies Lobby : +/- 1 day
(a day starts at midnight right?) : It probably took a couple hours to get to Enies Lobby by seatrain. I get a feeling it's about 4-5am or something like that since Oimo and Kaashi didn't get enough sleep.
-I want to estimate that they spent one full day in Enies Lobby, but since it's light out when they see the Galleyla ship, it is highly possible they only spent a few hours in EL (from before sunrise to the afternoon).EDIT: With that in mind, we don't know how long it took to sail from Whiskey Peak to Little Garden, but it couldn't have been more than a couple days. The only thing I can think of to go on is that everyone seemed to be trusting Vivi by the time they got to Little Garden, but then again new crew members friendly pretty quickly. So can be deduced that from the Reverse Mountain to the end of EL, there has been about 40 days
After Enies Lobby, the spent a few days recovering, then a few days of sailing, then Thriller Bark couldn't have been more than a day or two, then Sabody for less than a day, then they all got knocked out, Luffy met Boa, set sail to Impel Down, Impel Down was a day or so, then by the Time they got to Marineford there was still a few hours before Ace's execution, the entire war wasn't longer than a few hours, and then 2 week time skip to where we are now - damn that was a long run on sentence.
Kibagami's post left out some stuff, but yeah, couldn't have been more than 3-4 months.
-
Wrong conclusion Sherlock, it's been 3-4 months at the very least.
No one can pretend to know how much time passes between islands. No one save Oda.
EDIT: On closer inspection that list is full of bullshit.
"They leave Skypea in the morning and get attacked by Sea Monkeys the moment they land on sea. Those same three Sea Monkeys sunk the Frog Captain's boat right before they reach Long Ring Long Land. So, they're not too far away."
No they fucking didn't. Whoever made this shitpile needs to, I dunno, read the comic they're analyzing??

Posters on another forum tried to calculate the length of the story as far as getting to island to island in the most efficient speed much better than that.
