Tales of Bibliotheca sounds amazing.
It does, but actually Tales of Bibliotheca is already a (sort of) game for the iPad that relives old Tales games (currently just Vesperia).

Welp the countdown site is displaying Xillia and Xillia 2 now, so within the next 24 hours we should have the new title
Fingers crossed for Tales of Kanade, the dating sim.
Looks like they're making us wait until the 12th.
Haha when I saw this thread had been bumped I thought "Oh! I should check that teaser site, it's probably updated now!"
and a split-second before it loaded, I had a bad premonition "this is just going to be a cocktease isn't it"
I'm going to laugh if it turns out to be Radiant Mythology 4 for Vita
C](http://next.tales-ch.jp/)an anyone give a rough translation of what the text in the book says?
it's pretty standard JRPG stuff… from ancient times the sages have brought the light, when darkness falls, they vanquish it, when peace arrives they disappear, and now the darkness is coming back
Ah alright thanks stephen. Figured maybe there would be something regarding the new game in it.
Tales of Bibliotheca confirmed.
Wasn't tales of bibliotheca already done? I'm pretty sure it was an iOS thing

I hope not, or my lame joke would be even stupider than it already is.
Wasn't tales of bibliotheca already done? I'm pretty sure it was an iOS thing
The last iOS thing I remember is Tales of Link.
Wasn't tales of bibliotheca already done? I'm pretty sure it was an iOS thing
Yep, it was done already, on iOS.
That artwork on the teaser site looks really good
But that's all I can see..unless the grey box at the bottom of the page says anything
Nice lion noise to accompany the picture.
Tales of Zestiria, PS3. So no surprises on either the name or the format.
Fans opinions have apparently been taken into account for the battlesystem. Hope the Japanese enjoyed Graces!
Totally better be the adventures of Wonder Chef.
That would be too broken man. Transformation AND teleportation skills?
No you see, his magical abilities are powered by the world's love for and knowledge of cooking. In dark times, people are struggling and delicious, refined recipes are being lost to the simple scramble for food. Wonder Chef, in a severely weakened state, undertakes a journey to restore the glory of cuisine to the world – but in the process, he must vanquish great evils and save the land, so that the citizens may once again have the resources and leisure to practice fine cuisine. Bit by bit his magical abilities are restored, until finally he approaches his former glory and attempt to eradicates this evil once and for all. And through it all, he also undergoes personal growth and develops even more delicious and powerful recipes.
xD oh god now I really want a wonder chef spin off game… what a pitch.

Some pics gifs and a summary.
Is it just me or does the male character look kind of off, it feels like his eyes are a bit too far apart.
The camera perspective is interesting in the combat gif, seems like a new thing but I'm not sure since I haven't played the xillias.
The combat shown does look a bit unique but it might not actually represent regular in-game combat.
Reveal trailer:
wow that looks really good and if that combat is the final product that would be an interesting change for Tales of games
posting the info tidbits from that article for courtesy
What's UFOTABLE?
What's UFOTABLE?
It's the company that has been doing the opening animations(and animation cutscenes) for the xillia games.
–-------------------------------------------
Have to say the dragon design looked disappointing a bit too much on the generic side.
I like the dragon designs in graces and vesperia more, they were a bit more exotic.
That game looks beautiful
It seems as if it is only now that they are really using the PS3's full power.
I still think if they developed this on the PS4 (which could have been MUCH easier since it's very easy to develop for), this could have been a killer app to an extent for the Japanese market
that being said, because I have a PS3 I am happy that I can get this game at some point
Well I guess it's time to finally get that plat for Xillia and starting working on X2
Nothing new but the trailer that was shown to us is now in HQ on youtube
Played a bit further in graces f, so apparently you go to space. I don't know why but this caught me offguard.
Probably cause totally out of tune with the whole story. I still kind of remember the important parts but there's also a lot I don't know anymore.
But whatever I'm just having fun with the battle system at the moment.
Chaos is also actually getting ridiculously hard. Ai is just not smart enough(or maybe my strategical ai setup is faulty) but they're dying too fast and despite being a bit confident in playing asbel I just can't dodge 4 monsters while dealing damage alone.
I feel like I should try to make sense of the dualizing system but I remember being fairly annoyed by the tempering process.

The whole "wait, there's another hidden but entirely connected world" plotpoint is kind of a classic Tales of… riff, now that I think about it.
Yeah they all either go to space to reach a different world, or go through a dimension thing to a different world.
Valkine guardian dragons…
So it's kind of impossible to beat them on higher difficulty than normal(and even that is nailbitingly hard) for me right now.
Still doing sidequest on my first playthrough. Just curious where is the insane power boost going to come from to take these guys down on chaos?
I mean I have a hard time seeing how even the titles I'm still missing are supposed to give me that much power.
Also chaos is pretty inconsistent was a breeze playing on chaos until I hit the research labs on fordra.
Things begin to one shot you at that point.
Also seeing how tales has me currently bound again while waiting for my 3ds I have to say 1 tales game every 1 1/2 - 2 years seems to be my optimum to not burn out on the franchise.
I think Double Damage/10x Experience is what got me through most of my Chaos run, but can't really remember.

To play on Chaos, especially end-game or optional bosses, you need to dualize the shit out of everything. Accuracy and evasion become hugely important (to allow you to inflict and evade stun-lock for example), and just leveling up equipment and traits does actually boost your stats and combat ability in a massive way. It's all an extremely grind-tastic endeavor that I would never undertake. As for titles, they matter pretty much as much as, if not more than, leveling up. Mastering every title that comes along is a must on Chaos.
I think Double Damage/10x Experience is what got me through most of my Chaos run, but can't really remember.
If you're going to use bonuses then I've heard the best way to "cheat" on Chaos is 10x damage and just kill everything before it has a chance to land attacks (since enemies also do 10x damage to you).

Hey, I paid for that with my very own Grade, thank you very much.

:ninja:
You mean your cheating levels were limited by having to pay for them :ninja:
Honestly on my second run I had 2x SP and 10x Exp (couldn't afford 3x SP…) and I tried "casually" going through the game on Chaos and started getting murdered around Fendel. Didn't have any damage multipliers active though. To get through the final boss on Chaos for the trophy, I did the final boss (not the uber version) by using every trick up my sleeve, i.e. multiple hourglasses, all-divides, and Accel moves. I was level 200 but I was still getting owned otherwise.
gulp so much depth and grind also:
@Foolio:
I was level 200.
Yep totally forgot that tales games go to 200.
I'm ~72 now and thought I was nearing the max.
I guess it also makes a whole lot more sense now knowing that grade dmg multipliers exist and having a quick look at how you can upgrade equipment to +99 (+ the soft reset with half the stats) + seeing some disgustingly high quality gem the power ceiling seems to be quite high.
Damn I really should get into dualizing properly but I just don't know where to begin. The problem not being the system itself but knowing what kind of gems I should work towards to or with which shards I should upgrade which weapon.
But yeah accuracy and evade being of importance is at least a start. But then I probably shouldn't get into dualizing until new game +? I think I've read somewhere that weapons can't be carried over(the horror…).
Yeah there's an option to carry over actual shards but not equipment. Also heads up, once you have a certain number of shards in your inventory (like around 100?) they pretty much stop dropping until you use or discard some. Also, the highest-tier traits don't even unlock until you buy them with a Grade bonus.
I actually do hate the dualization system. Too many rules and quirks, making it impossible to intuitively grasp. It becomes a matter of looking up massive tables and FAQs and planning out what to infuse and what to combine and how to level up the traits you want to keep (or create them from lower-level ones).
Yeah that was pretty annoying when I was getting into inn requests I needed pretty specific shard qualities for some of the weapons.
So I went to the place where they were supposed to drop. After some grinding(about an hour) and no shard at all a quick google search told me why. grml
Had to sell all [1] and [2] shards.
I like the dualizing depth but it sadly comes with a clusterfuck of items and I can't say that the list inventory ui was the best choice for that kind of system. But then there are not that many ui choices that can be made with a controller in mind. Maybe cutting some items down(like the money items) would have been better, not sure.
Yeah dualizing is really deep and can be fun if you get really into it but it's not intuitive at all, esp with regards to specific qualities. Most of the time I just slapped whatever onto my equipment because really unless you are min/maxing, EVERYTHING is going to improve your shit, it's just a matter of how efficiently you want to do it and how much time you want to spend banging your head against the charts and tables online (or in my case, with the fuckning amazing JP official guide)
I won't lie though, I was pretty relieved when I saw Xillia's one-and-done equipment style (and they even added Symphonia's cursed weapon system for replay fun)

The thing that gets me the most about this system though is for how complex it is and for how much it can reward your effort and fosters your attachment to your ever stronger growing equipment, there is not inherit option for the gear you've been building up.
That's kind of insane to me when even Vesperia had it. It really hampers my enthusiasm of wanting to put any time into it.
Also damn you 神秘的 quality shard, why don't you drop!!? With my current luck it feels like pink tail or scrolls of truth farming:getlost:.
Having a look at the trophy list again I have to say the platinum is very enticing. It doesn't seem very hard just kind of time intensive but not unreasonably so.
There IS a way to inherit (half) your upgrade, but it requires the original weapon to be dualized into the second weapon. This is mostly only useful on future playthroughs where you will be super buff when you start out from grade shop bonuses - the ultimate weapon for each character acquired from the unique orbs in the Zhone Cage always has the starter weapon (i.e. Wooden Sword or whatever) as a base. So if you start upgrading that dinky thing when your playthrough begins and keep that weapon, you can eventually use it to dualize the ultimate weapons and gain a massive statistical headstart on them.
Again it's not very "useful" except as an extreme endgame tool but it's pretty awesome if you do end up playing that long :D
(or in my case, with the fuckning amazing JP official guide)
I have the Enterbrain Perfect Guide which I also think is amazing, but there are definitely better lists and charts online for the sole purpose of creating the best equipment / qualities etc. But yeah I just couldn't get into it. It's also annoying because as long as you're progressing through the game you're just going to keep finding better equipment, so it doesn't make one want to spend all that time and effort improving anything when it's going to get replaced 20 minutes later.
Yey beat the main game.(Missing only the 闘技島 request, I think they're zonecage dependant since nothing showed up).
Wow that took quite a while to get through.
The ending was pretty sappy but sadly in all the boring ways. Vesperia's ending animation was more fun.
But then there's still Lineage and Legacies so maybe I shouldn't be to quick to judge.
I'm not sure what to think of Graces art style on one hand I get the argument it's sharper and I think the environments do profit from that, but I everytime I just look at Vesperia in motion I like it more. So I guess I take massive blur cell shading in favor of what Graces introduced.

Not to mention if you get the items needed to upgrade those weapons in a prior playthrough you can then set them to the walking thing where it randomly wil get you an item at every 100 steps or whatever. Sure they only have like a .1% chance of spawning, but run around long enough and you can have your ultimate weapons super early in the game.
I loved Graces F's gameplay better than what Xilia, Symphonia, Vesperia, ect all have. Don't know why they went away from that. But I do like how Xilia is easier for equipment/weapons. Dualizing sure is neat and cool, but can spend way too many hours worrying about it and learning its ins and out and what makes what perfect, ect. Much easier just buying said new weapon and not worrying. Though I do wish that weapons/armor were loot/chests in xilia. Kind of disspaointing that it seems its all 100% in the shops, which are too easy to upgrade. You can be massively over powered easy due to upgrading shops well and having almost top tier weapons early in first playthrough.

I can see this as an argument that it's not very well balanced, but I disagree that it's a problem on the player's end. You can always take steps to balance things for yourself by not focusing so hard on upgrading W/A shops, or just take the opportunity to bump up the difficulty level a notch…

Yea yea the age old argument of "you can make it harder yourself" Why not go into a Zelda forum and tell me how I should play with only 3 hearts and the weakest weapon the entire game to make it hard. I hate that argument. There is a difference between making the game harder for yourself and the game being poorly thought out, balanced, ect.
It takes barely any work at all to get max in the shops. Just go around normally and fight monsters and collect loot randomly in the world. I have gotten to point where I usually just run around collecting loot in an area instead of even fighting enemies. If I fought the enemies I would have double the amount of loot to EXPAND my shops. Then you toss in the black feathers. Just collect them and whenever you see a X3 for a shop expansion, trade in feathers for the item of that kind and bam you will gain like 10 levels of shop per item you donate practically. The only thing keeping me from being decked out instanely with everyone is the lack of money. Which I never seem to get cause as I said I skip as much fighting as I can.
Why didn't they just do as in the past and have new gear only available when reach new town, thus based on progress. Difficulty means nothing in tales games, as soon as you get accustomed to controls its easy on easy, normal or hard, ect. The only times that difficulty matters at all is in boss fights. Their hp gets so ungodly high and they tend to spam more annoying moves that they are hard. But the average grunt is just as easy, just maybe take twice the time to kill.
I don't want to get into a huge debate over the game being too easy or not. Heck any new game + is basically what I'm saying above. Your using pimped out characters and trying to max out stats and gear asap, the only thing I dislike is how it seems I'm doing that witout even trying on my first run through.
Hell I just glanced at a walkthrough to see how far I was in the game. There are 4 chapters I see, and I had just started the second chapter. Like just just started, and already i had like lvl 60 in every shop. And I was not trying to grind materials to get stuff to expand. imagine if I never wasted materials on the useless shops like food, items or accessories. I say useless cause I have not bought one item from any of those stores yet. But still upgrade them whenever arrive at a new town or vendor. Again that shows how easy and unbalanced the game is. Imagine if I had been eating food to increase my gald or experience or whatever. equipping accessories to benefit battles depending on area, ect.
I dont' have the weapons I have all unlocked, like I said earlier I have a lack of funds so can't afford it. But with a few battles and gold food eaten I could afford them pretty quick. And I play on higher difficulty cause what I've learned in past tales games is you unlock titles with so many battles on certain difficulties. Though I've yet to get a title for this yet, so maybe they removed that one, or i didn't notice it. I'm not a fan of this title system, I liked th ewhole equipping titles and getting stat bonuses like in previous games.
I'm sorry but all I can see from that wall of text is "I grinded like crazy and got way too much stuff and now the game is easy." There is no way to get that advanced while playing through the game "normally" unless you are running around farming or obsessively collecting everything and building up action counts for titles/trophies. ESPECIALLY if you are not even eating any dishes. And I know this because that's exactly what I did. Also, don't be exploitative and use your feathers just for breaking the shops? There are other things you can buy with them.
There are no titles relating to difficulty levels so there's no reason not to go higher if the game is too easy at your current point. I found that in comparison to the scaling in Graces F which has so many incremental difficulty settings, the difference in Atk/Def/HP was quite noticeable between Normal and Hard in Xillia.
Again I don't think it's all that well balanced and there are other downsides like losing the fun novelty of getting new themed equipment for every town, but a lot of those complaints are easily addressed with a smidgen of self-control. It's not a goddamn Dark Souls naked run.
Of all my Xillia complaints, the shops are at the bottom of the list… it was just a bland, soulless, boring system.
So much b/romance in the future arc. Sometimes it's awkward sometimes it's rather funny. How long does the future arc take? Doing 風機遺跡(after having a look at an English I think it's Gustwork Ruins, interesting…) right now.
Also does someone happen to know how much grade is recommended before starting the second play through(assuming you skip such super luxuries as inheriting titles+their progress). I think max exp bonus is probably recommended and probably some sp bonuses. Are damage multipliers a must?
Man feeling a bit weird bringing this old game up again and again >.<. Next chance to be on top of things is Zestiria I guess

I kind of prefer it to Graces F where you have to remember to upgrade items and what you need to get what you want. I'd rather just dump stuff into shops and expand them and just outright buy what I want.

Yes in other words you prefer a bland, soulless, boring system where you don't have to think or remember things and where there is no variety and uniqueness based on location or story progression.
