Sand croc better evolve into something with a fur coat so we can make the obvious jokes about it.
Pokemon's Fifth Generation
-
-
It'll evolve into a banana.
-
I'm hoping Arcanine gets an evo. Maybe even a wider movepool. Fire types barely have much coverage these days since everything has Earthquake.
-
A Fire-Type with Levitate would be nice.
-

No way. Arcanine is ALREADY just a tiny notch under legendary, in terms of rarity and power. Its the best critter stat wise in the franchise aside from Slaking (who skips every other turn) and the legendaries.

Plus evolution stone pokemons dont really evolve.
Like i said before if they are giving old pokemons evolutions give to the useless ones, Luvdisc, Farteftch, Fearrow, etc actual useless ones.
-
I agree that Fire Pokémon need some love, but no to the "Arcanine should evolve" thing.
The same goes for Ninetales.
-
They just need to change the weaknesses wich will never happen or atleast like i said give them usefulll abilitys to try and counter those weaknesses, most Fire pokemons are UU and NU because of that, they cant compete at OU level due to water/rock/ground weakness and those are used a lot in competitive battling.
-
Only if a Grass/Fire Pokémon existed. Sigh…
Not really.
Fire is the only type I can't see paired with Grass and Water, although, they're paired with each other.
and I'm not complaining.
Grass/Fire and Fire/Water would be stupid as hell.
-
Yeah i dont see that ever unless we got something like a Water/Fire Golem/Guardian pokemon like we can see in other rpgs, and fire grass will never happen yeah i cant really imagine something with that typing.
-
A Fire/Water Pokémon might have something to do with steam, like a Geyser Pokémon, and a Grass/Fire Pokémon might be related to hot peppers, but that's stretching it.
-
A Fire/Water Pokémon might have something to do with steam, like a Geyser Pokémon,
Yes, I thought of that too.
and a Grass/Fire Pokémon might be related to hot peppers, but that's stretching it.
Yeeeeah… that is...

HAHA i seriously didnt think of it but now that you said it, it would be pretty awesome HAHAHA.
-
I think they mostly try to stay away from elements that are completely opposite of each other.
I mean, there isn't a Ground/Electric type, is there?
-

No, but there's a Water/Electric type.
-
And water grass, if it makes sense they do it.
-
I think they mostly try to stay away from elements that are completely opposite of each other.
They should. Seriously.
I mean, there isn't a Ground/Electric type, is there?
Not as of now. :getlost:
@Badass:
No, but there's a Water/Electric type.
-
Awww, I forgot about Chinchou/Lanturn! I love that one. Too cute.
But when you think about Electric Eels, Water/Electric isn't a stretch at all. And at least you can take one down with a good Grass or Ice pokemon.
-
Or a grass/ice pokemon
-
Wooper, the Mudkip evos, Barboach, Gastrodon and Gible were Water/Ground, to take out the electric weakness. Of course, it upped the grass weakness in trade…
But yeah, I don't think they'll ever do anything that messes with the basic starter chain.
-
@robbybedfart:
Wooper, the Mudkip evos, Barboach, Gastrodon and Gible were Water/Ground,
Gible's a Dragon/Ground type.
-
Gible, Gabite, and Garchomp were in fact, Dragon/Ground.
-
Ah yeah. I was just skimming serebii. The purple color for dragon is very similar to the blue for water.
-

Isn't he also under most of the so-called "pseudo-legendaries?" I'm pretty sure Arcanine has lower stats than Dragonite, Tyranitar, Metagross, Salamence, Garchomp, etc.
An evolution that put him in their league of stats would be fine to me.
Tbh, I'd even take a Growlithe pre-volution, if it gave a few more options in his movepool.
-
@Syan:

He's at #46 it the total base stats, the highest non-legendary non-dragoney thing around.
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp/stat/all.shtml
And yes, the dragons do have 600 base stats, tying them with about 40 "legendaries", including Mew, ANd most of those are third tier evolutions in their high 50's level wise.
Slaking is at 670, putting it above most legendaries, but it has the "sleep every other turn" weakness.
So yes. There's a couple things stronger than it naturally, but thye're also stronger than the legendary dogs, the rock trio, and the pixie trio. So yes, those would in fact, be above legendary tier. (Plus they dont hit those third forms till like, level 50ish so they're rough to raise to that point.)
Plus, Growlithe was only findable in Red or Heartgold, or with Red attached to the DS . Ninetails, the countergame equivilent, only has 505 base stats, nowhere near Arcanines 555.
He's by far the strongest 2 evolution critter in the franchise.
-

Also one of the coolest: dog + fire + cool looks = win

I get the complaints against Arcanine evolving, but there are still several "legal" pokemon that are stronger than him in stats. Like I said, it's his move pool that sucks. Arcanine is my favorite pokemon, but it's hard to use him well since he has such a small list of things he can do. The only moves he has that hit hard destroy his HP, and coupled with the fact that Earthquake is extremely prevalent, he doesn't do as well as several pokemon with much lower stats.
Arcanine's only real defense against Rock type is either Dig, which is going to get him destroyed by an Earthquake, or Iron Tail, which has awful accuracy. He needs a new Steel or Ground type move with decent power to use.
Ninetales may be overall weaker, but the fact that it is faster than Arcanine and has the ability to use Confuse Ray makes it more versatile.
For example, if a Magikarp has Arceus' stats, it'd still suck to use since its best move is Flail. Arcanine needs something, evo, pre-vo, just a flat-out expanded move pool, something.
-
I wouldn't mind both Arcanine and Ninetails getting alternate evolutions. Like Something that gives them an alternate type. Like giving Growlith and Vulpix metal upgrades; you know Fire/Steel types.
-
Nah, that's too damn weird.
Just have some kind of faith in Generation V.
-
@THE:

Actually while pondering about it; it be really nice if they;
A. Remember the Water, Fire, and Thunderstones as they haven't touched them since Gen1. Its be nice of them to instead of making up new stones and evolution items to start going back to the old ones. I think Thunderstone has only Pikachu and Jolteon.
Bringing that up it wouldn't be bad for them to give us more baby pokemon like Pichu. Since we've seen it be done with Evolutionary Stone Pokemon such as Pikachu.
B. Give alternatives to the Evoltuonary Stone pokemon such as Staryu, Groliwth, Vulpix, (maybe Pikachu; nah), etc. It be nice to add to their lines maybe give them secondary typings.
-

I think thats straying a little too far into Digimon territory.
I really shutter at the idea of any pokemon evolving into basically the same pokemon with armor.
So no Mega-armor-arcanine-mon for me thank you very much
-
I keep not getting people wanting to boost alread good pokemons, Arcanine is OU(well its BL/UU breaking the OU in my opinion) the problem is the typing fire types have a lot of weakness but thats not only his problems its fire type pokemons problem and in its case its specially not his problems since of the fire types he is one of those who is usefull along with Infernape and Heatran, Typhlosion and Blaziken are nice also.
Look at Charizard potentially OU but it isnt due to his typing sucking against stleath rock wich is used 90% of the times in competitive matches, Ninetales/Flareon/Rapidash are all useless, those are the one who need some help… i hope Flareon gets a good extra ability from Dream world so i can use one since i actually like the thingy but its movesets and ability/stats are nothing amazing along with fire type makes it the most useless Eeveelution.
Sauros Abomasnow is awesome btw kakakkaka i love mine :D.
Tiers here for whoever doesnt know, this tiers are organizing after observing battles and win each pokemons gets ,etc Salamence just got promoted some time ago to Uber for example due to massive ownage.

I'm guessing Option B is based off Gloom?

Growlithe and Staryu dont need it their evolutions are already great.
Pikachu and Vulpix do specially Pikachu i really wanted it to get an alternate evolution.
-
The only reason I said nah to Pikach is because we already found out this generation's Pikachu;
Gen 1: Pikachu/Raichu (Stone Gimmick)
Gen 2: Pichu (Baby Gimmick)
Gen 3: Plusle and Minun (Double Team Battles Gimmick)
Gen 4: Pachirisu (Assuming for Contest)
Gen 5: Flying Squirel with Electric/Flying Type. Awesome.Suprised we didn't get a Three way Electric Mouse Pokemon trio to go along with the Triple Battles. Though it would be cool if there was a pokemon that if you had 3 of in a Triple battle it does something because of their ability.
-
Bascially my point is, Arcanine is ALREADY really great, he doesn't need fixing anywhere near as bad as a lot of the other critters that have terrible typing, move pools, or stats. For the first 2 generations he was one of the best critters in the game, and statwise, he's still in the top 6 outside of legends.
And he has access to Flare Blitz, Extreme Speed, Crunch and Thunder Fang, all great moves. And NATURALLY learns 6 different fire moves, without tms at all.
Compared to things like say, Farfetched, Smeargle or Dunsparce, which have interesting things to them , but incredibly bad stats and not a single evolution, or even my personal favorite, Sandshrew/slash, which has bad stats, bad special ability, and didn't even learn a single offensive move of its own type till last gen, and even that move is the low power, low accuracy sand tomb.
Or Ditto, a critter BEGGING for an upgrade like, being able to use transform immediatley without costing a turn, or matching opponent stats.
Its crazy to want an upgrade on what it already one of the best stat critters naturally in the game when there's dozens of much weaker critters that need it way more. ANd with double and triple battles becoming events that can happen in the wild? You can probably start putting him with a partner that uses a fire attack that'll hit everything, and activate Flash Fire.
Suprised we didn't get a Three way Electric Mouse Pokemon trio to go along with the Triple Battles. Though it would be cool if there was a pokemon that if you had 3 of in a Triple battle it does something because of their ability.
Plus and Minus is already sort of like that. Now that the gears also get those abilities…? No telling how that'll work with three of them present, but they aren't going to do anything that calls for having three of the same critter, the point is "gotta collect em all" not "collect 3-6 of one thing you really love and raise it multiple times." This ain't Monster Rancher.
Tho I guess I could see them giving something to the dog/rock/pixie trios.
-
just realized he could have the starters, Bird/Dog/Regi/Emotion trio, Weather trio, and Dragon trio as a team for 3v3
 . . . :w00t:
-

Wonder how well balanced they'll be.

It would also be nice to give Ditto a move that allows it to cancel a transformation too.

They can also be used for those rotation battles. I still wonder how that'll work out.

Swampert middle tank :D, Infernape and Sceptile or Tsutaja evolution if its nice as damage dealers now that would be awesome.
The three kitties/dogs or two kitties and a dog, Entei, Suicune and Raikou would be pretty cool also indeed.
-
Mewtwo/Deoxys/
LucarioDarkrai:pouty:
slowly becoming hyped for Black & White
-
Hmm. I guess you guys are right. He does not really need an evo. There just needs to be more defensive coverage for fire types vs Rock and Ground in general. As strong as they are, they are predictable to counter.
-
I just wish Poison would get more advantages as a type.
-
Yeah, poison got REALLY gimped after the second gen took away its strengths. Its only strong against like… grass now. And a LOT of grass types are dual poison types.
Poison is more built into its side effect than the actual attacks themselves.
-
Took the words out of my mouth.
Those bastards have "Toxic" and "badly poisoned" effects.
-
Poison Jab is awesome.
-
I always see pure poison types as defensive walls with crippling status effects. Bingin up the Evo thing agian, you think Muk and Weezing deserves one? They could climb up in teirs but it could be a nice representation for Poison types in general.
