Chapter 577 "The Incident Continues to Escalate"
-

Shanks thought he was strong enough to warn Newgate about before he knew Teach had any devil fruits.
Agreed.
This man went toe to toe with Shanks and I didn't read the "Ace/Whitebeard" flashback chapters in the Manga, but wasn't Teach offered a spot as a Captain on Whitebeard's crew, declined it and Ace was given the job?
Teach was a beast before he obtained the Yami Yami no Mi.
Obtaining a Devil Fruit makes average men strong and stronger men stronger.
-
Shanks thought he was strong enough to warn Newgate about before he knew Teach had any devil fruits.
**No he didn't. He went to visit Whitebeard because he was worried about Ace. Teach's performance against Whitebeard last chapter should have made it very very clear he wasn't a top-tier, so there's no way he was strong enough even before getting his first fruit. No way in hell. Teach will get a lot stronger very very quickly due to this development, but it's a huge assumption to say he's not automatically the strongest just because he has a new DF power despite the fact that he's lacking in so many other areas.
It's obvious where Oda is going with Teach. Weakling (comparatively) who gets power through backstabbing, not realizing the meaning of true strength etc and then at the end that will be his downfall.**

My mistake, I hadn't looked at the RAW yet. I thought the dialog was referring to a sheet of darkness. It's common in fiction to transfer powers or things like that while covering both bodies or putting them in some sort of machine together, which is the concept I was viewing this from. Now that I understand your point, I don't know. But I doubt he can just extract a literal fruit from someone's body, so he must be absorbing it somehow. His follow up line mentions that his Yami Yami Fruit can nuetralize anything, which could apply to the confliction of having two fruit powers. The whole abnormal body thing just seems overly complicated and unnecessary to me, as I have said. It might be what Oda is doing, I am not dismissing the possibility, I just don't buy it right now. I expect Oda to give us more information, but these were my initial impressions.
I would agree that it being Darkness related is more likely(indeed it was what I thought when I saw the initial spoilers), but given that he doesn't want anyone to see how he did it makes me think there's a possibility that others like him may be able to do it.
It's only a passing fancy but if it is Darkness related I just don't see why Oda bothered with Marco's comment or the sheet.
-
I totally called Rayleigh watching from afar the screen. :ninja: Only Oda didn't draw him having a heart attack at hearing that Ace was Roger's son…
[hide][/hide]
Dang. I suppose he already knew that his Captain was one of the few men in OP that got laid.
Teach's downfall will be his overconfidence. Especially now that he clearly thinks he is invincible with two DF abilities. I wonder if just mastering Haki will be enough for Luffy to win or if he'll have a different kind of power-up~
-
The darkness fruit is probably what allows him to take the power, and his weird body or w/e is probably what allows him to keep it without blowing up.

I personally think the sheet was just BB's way of teasing everyone with some suspense. :ninja:

Have a feeling he'll need both. But, I think you're right. Teach is too overconfident for his own good.

He thought a guy without a devil fruit was strong enough to beat a whitebeard commander with a logia.
He thought he was strong because he'd been injured by him in the past.
Since then Teach has gained the power to destroy the world and to negate powers.
Jinbei was wary of him in ID.All this points to him being right up there now. I don't think even now he's as strong as Newgate was, but since Newgate's dead…who knows where he lies compared to others?

OP will be landing in about 2 hours. Naruto or Bleach will follow after that. It all depends on which t/l comes in first. :)

Missing one bubble and our t/l is not available. We're scrambling. Any minute now. Hopefully…......

If anyone knows what this bubble says, please post it. It's the only thing holding back the OP release. :p http://bit.ly/d7AIVl

**Blackbeard is the type of guy you watch out for, not because he's powerful but because he's a schemer. You be your best friend, then stab you in the back and take everything from you. That is why he's dangerous, that is why Shanks and others were so weary of him.
People were saying he was a top-tier even before gaining the darkness fruit, but that is obviously not the case. He wasn't even a top-tier with the darkness fruit judging by his measly performance against Whitebeard. Now, with the powers of the quake fruit he probably qualifies but to say he's automatically the absolute strongest in the world 3 seconds after gaining Whitebeard's fruit is one big giant assumption with no backing.** That's what I'm getting at, saying he's really fucking strong now is one thing. Saying he's on the level of legends without even practicing with his new power is pushing it.

Wow, talk about being in denial. Let me conjure up some stuff I wrote in the spoiler thread.

How am I in denial? I've been completely correct on Teach so far, I think I'm right on this to.

Oda himself said OP is not complicated.
Shanks warned WB about BB, ergo BB is strong. Anything else is just you showing your BB hate… as you've done many, many... many times.
-
Blackbeard a weakling. Oh man, you're a blast poppy.

**That's the logic of a two year old.
If Teach was as strong as you people think he was without his fruit, there'd be no need to give him two DF powers. Common sense.**

Didn't Aohige translate that line as more or less "Are we witnessing a Nightmare?"
-

Yeah, the wording and the sheet certainly makes it seem like Oda is giving us the reach around, but…
I personally think the sheet was just BB's way of teasing everyone with some suspense.
…I'm going with this for now. Blackbeard said it would be a "show", he commented on his power neutralizing anything, and Marco's comment (to me) is not all that different from Ace's comment in regards to Blackbeard's logia power. I could totally be wrong, and I think Bluefacialhair might certainly have a point, but until we have more information I will stick with this.

Really, Teach is going to go on a killing spree after this lol. I have no idea how Oda is going to pull Luffy beating him.**

He was strong without his fruits, now he's the strongest with the fruits. It's simple as that poppy.

well they already have it now so doesn't matters
they are translating it as"am i seeing a nightmare?"

This post is for Polygon and other users who share his belief and misunderstanding…
Why is everyone assuming BB is a poor fighter?
One of the first things we learn about BB is that he's capable of scarring Shanks, and not with a cheap shot. A legitimate attack from Shanks' own words.Being bested by WB is not a sign of someone being a poor fighter.
In a real life boxing match, how many people could Mike Tyson take out with Two strong punches, especially if that person was mouthing off instead of working on his defense.I really don't understand why everyone takes things so literally. Do we just want a DB slug fest? And I like DB, so I'd actually have no problem with that, but OP has established many things in this war. Like the super strong people can be taken by surprise, or are at a disadvantage if they're distracted. In DB, as long as your power level was significantly higher, then that was it, the opponent could do nothing to you. OP has a much better system. [/rant]
A poor defense and a poor fighting style are not one and the same.
We don't really know what his fighting style is just yet. For all we know, it's just what we've seen so far. Can you define Luffy's fighting style? Please go ahead and tell me.Teach is a lot like Luffy. For all we know, Teach's idea is "why do I need to defense when I can attack?" Teach seems just this simple minded.
Now, I'm not denying that BB doesn't have a poor defense, and I'm not denying that BB isn't a cheapskate and is willing to use underhanded techniques to achieve his goals. But, Oda made sure to point out that BB was capable of injuring Shanks before BB obtained this Darkness Fruit, and in addition to BB injuring Shanks. Shanks himself says that it wasn't a cheap shot. These are crucial facts about BB's fighting abilities. Not that it matters, but he also bested Ace with no on-screen trickery, and even displayed his powers to Ace before he just straight out attacked him.
Again, I think seeing WB best BB has warped readers' opinions on BB's capabilities just a bit.
-
He was strong without his fruits, now he's the strongest with the fruits. It's simple as that poppy.
**He obviously wasn't strong enough without the fruits. Don't ever recall saying he wasn't strong, I know he was.
It's common sense. If he was already a Yonkou level fighter before he ate the darkness fruit, there would have been no reason for Oda to give him two DFs like he did. The darkness fruit should have been enough to boost him up. Obviously it's the combination of both these fruits that is going to put BB on top.**

**We don't know when Shanks was scarred, so that means absolutely nothing. You can't use it to prove anything. Given Oda covered Shanks scars around the time of the execution and the fact that his flaghas the scars suggests it happened decades ago.
He was destroyed by a dead Whitebeard, I'm sorry but that proves he's not a top-tier with just the darkness fruit. He's really strong sure, but a top-tier would have been able to scratch a dying Whitebeard. See Akainu taking half his face of, Aokiji almost screwing him or Kizaru lasering him.
I never said anything about him not being strong, but any one who says he was a top-tier (ie- Garp, Kizaru, Whitebeard etc) level before even eating a single fruit is shitting themselves. If he was already that strong, there would be no need for ODa to give him what he just did.**
-
He was strong without his fruits, now he's the strongest with the fruits. It's simple as that poppy.
You think he's stronger than Dragon? Just look at Akainu, the guy doesn't give a shit about BB. Even after all that happened he's still trying to kill Luffy, it speaks volumes of Dragon's strength if one of the strongest marines is so concerned about a rookie just because it's his son.
-
Glad to see Rayleigh was crying, thought he was being a heartless bitch.
-
but it's a huge assumption to say he's not automatically the strongest just because he has a new DF power despite the fact that he's lacking in so many other areas.
perhaps someone strong enough without a DF can kick his ass (see WB) and (in one on one fight) if you're fast enough, you can dodge his quake-fist… ?

That was before he got the earthquake fruit.

"Have you forgotten the final captain'S order?" lol xD
Oh, and am I the only one who agrees with Polygon? oO

looooooooool.i wonder how they translated the full chapter if they are in such hurry
i quote myself…
climaxex are scaaaaaaaary -
Really awesome chapter. The way it was told….
This was too epic O. I can't say anymore. I just love this chapter -
"Crossed the seas as Pirate King"..heh.
-
That was before he got the earthquake fruit.
We'll see about that. If next chapter Akainu lets Luffy go just so he can gang on BB with the other admirals then BB is the priority. But I'm sure that if Dragon made an appearance it's obvious they would let BB go and try to kill Dragon first.
-
Yeah, the wording and the sheet certainly makes it seem like Oda is giving us the reach around, but…
Um, the run around? The reach around is pretty different than what I think you mean…

I hate sounding like a broken record…every week lately I've been saying this. But damn, this was epic!
And LOL @ Buggy again! Climaxes are scary! XD
Is it just me or does Iva's head get bigger with every chapter?

Well duh.
Dragon is "the world's most dangerous man" since he DIRECTLY OPPOSES the world government.
That's nothing to do with who's strongest.
-

Impossible to tell because we haven't seen Dragon do anything however i doubt he'll be a villain so BB will eventually be stronger than him is he isn't already.
I'd say if the theory that he'll get the strongest zoan fruit as well is correct he isn't, but if BB is now "complete" he is.

Abaro has drill hands so he is most likely really that drill guy.
You can see it here

so 1 thing from this chapter.
that glow which was around WB's fist was due to his fruit and not haki. (since BB has it now too).
second in last chapter BB was unable to nullify WB's fruit powers
