This is the audio version of our exclusive interview with Mike McFarland from Katsucon 2010! On this episode we delve into what goes behind the scenes when making our favorite series, glimpses at the process, and some never-before heard information and confirmations. On this episode we have Zach, Ed, Steve Yurko, The Dude, and Jason "EGX". The video version of this episode will be coming out on Sunday exclusively on the Vidcast feed. We would have put them up simultaneous but some major editing needed to be done. This interview works perfectly as an audio-only podcast.

And that was after editing…the thing is the staff at Katsucon threw us in a crowded lobby (which I'm still a little ticked about). Of course that's not what we prefer, but you take what you can get.

I edited and rerecorded as much as we could without sounding artificial. I apologize for the background noise came out, but 5-10 hours of editing can only do so much...

That may be more troublesome on the MP3 feed, the music seeping didn't really affect the M4A feed all that much (as far as I can tell on my end). Regardless, I'll see what I can do (or at least keep that in mind if something like this happens in the future).

BTW, your Man-in-Locke avatar still scares the crap outta me.

Considering the situation you guys were put in, I can understand your frustration, and the editing that was done was done well. It's just that the only times I could hear peopel from your group was when you or Steve were talking.

Since I'm new to your podcast, I'm not sure who you've had interviews with. But if you could somehow talk to guys like Chris Sabat, Sonny Straight, etc. it would kick ass.

Cool interview guys. It must be awesome getting to talk to these guys.

I have one suggestion to make here. I noticed this on your last few interviews you go into the "character recommendation" portion and it goes NOWHERE. A few characters that are coming up in the show are hastily described, and all that does is bring up is a light chuckle or "ahuh" from your guest.

I think you need to structure it more, make a game out of it for the guest. Perhaps get together and write up tiny character descriptions (kinda like what they get when they audition). And if you're

, a little picture for them to see would be really cool.

I think it was Kyle Hebert that actually got into it a bit, and damn did that get my attention. I'd love to see more of that. ^^

edit: Oh yeah. I love it when you ask them the 10 Inside the Actors Studio questions.

I know it's really tough to go into character recommendations sometimes. It's really hard to be able to explain characters perfectly. I think when we did it with Tatum it was successful too. We got down the key things about the character and he either showed his interest or laughed hysterically (Absalom).

I think we should get some example pics to show our guests though. If they have Skype it would be easy.

If you guys could get in contact with them before you meet them in person, maybe you could get a little bit into the character recommendations ahead of time and send a couple of pictures, and then get more into depth with it when you interview them.

The truth is I have never heard of anyone in your interviews until you interview them. XD. Excluding Vic Mignonga. I knew about him from his singing of Byakuya's True Light/DNAngel OP 1

True, trying to come up with a perfect explanation of the characters (especially One Piece characters) is quite the task. But then this is all really for fun anyway, all you'd really need are the superficial details and maybe a line or two for them to read.

Gecko Moria: Largely proportioned (pear-shaped) pirate with a long stitched neck with slightly demonic features. While almost always maintaining a lazy attitude, within him lies a dark and truly threatening persona with desires of worldly conquest. Possesses the power of the Shadow Shadow Fruit.

Having it on standby ahead of time would make it feel more structured.

It's not unreasonable to think that they'd be able to come up with something for such a character. Throw in a few stage directions ("Try making him a little Mark Hamill Joker), and you're all set. And while a picture isn't mandatory, it'll work nice with more suited for in person interviews (or potential live video?)

I think really making it feel like a game will help convince them in participating. It'll be just for fun and it's not gonna get over judged by fans and such. Kinda like how they usually react to the 10 questions, and it's something they probably don't do often.

I'll have to check out the Tatum one again, because I do remember you talking to him about Absolom. Heh, must've jumped outta my head. Probably got replaced by that end of credit interview. Which was absolutely priceless (if anyone hasn't listened to it yet, DO IT!!)
