Hey Everyone,

I want to take this opportunity to take some feedback, constructive critiques, and kind of step back and see how we're doing according to the people who really matter: you guys! If you guys want to answer some of the following questions, cool, if not just let us know what you like or don't like about the podcast. We've been going a little crazy with Funimation stuff and a lot of recent chapter stuff lately so i really want to make sure we're not going TOO crazy. With that, here are some Piece Together questions I have for you guys!

I always flounder off a bit during the anime recap but that's just my own thing. Everything is pretty balanced, I think.

-I download it off your website.
-I typically listen to it on my computer, sometimes on teh ipod.
-I either listen intently or work on my website.
-Favorite sections have to be Greg's segment, Manga Recap, and Piece Together is usually pretty interesting.
-I think you guys do a good job of covering all sections of One Piece.
-I could do without the complaints about the way things are translated in scans, although I've noticed this has been toned down some in more recent episodes. Basically, anytime the podcast derails into complaining about how to translate something it suffers.
-I would say 1 podcast a week works the best but if you guys are up to doing more than one like you have, more power to you!
-I am not subscribed to Vidcast.
-Audio quality is a big deal to me, but for a podcast you can cut some corners (especially if everyone has a different type of mic). Although loud or unnecessary background noise like someone have a side conversation or a TV on is pretty distracting.
-I've probably listened to 20-30 podcasts in their entirety and maybe another 10 or 20 I've scanned through to get to the parts that interested me most.
-I wouldn't be against telling somebody about it.
-I would like to see maybe some more focus on the manga. I think you guys do a great job with this but sometimes it feels like people don't make a point about something either for the sake of time or because their afraid to step on somebodies toes. I'm not saying to nitpick it to death but sometimes it feels rushed.
-I've already stated what I could do less with. I guess you could limit the News to once a week, although I could be mistaken if you do already. How much has changed in three days that warrants a news update?

• What would you like to see more of from the One Piece Podcast? A return to mp3s. I'm getting an iPhone tomorrow, so maybe this may be remedied, but I don't have much time to sit and watch a mostly audio show, and my mp3 player can't read .m4a files.
• What would you like to see less of? N/a
• Would you like to see more/less/same amount of podcasts per week? Less. You're doing like 3 episodes a week or so, why not just one? Cut out some of the fluff and keep it condensed.
• Have you subscribed to our Vidcast feed? Nope
• Is audio quality important to you? (e.g. background noise, volume consistency, etc.,) As long as it doesn't hurt my ears, or the content is just enthralling, I don't really care.
• How many episodes of the podcast have you listened to? (Estimating is fine, 0-88+) 10 or so.
• Would you/have you recommended the podcast to a friend? Absolutely not at this juncture.
• What do you like about the podcast?/What don't you like about the podcast? I like the One Piece analysis and fans getting together to discuss some really interesting topics. Though from what I have heard (maybe it's changed?), the cons outweigh the pros. Inconsistent hosts. Everybody is talking over each other. Constant stuttering. No fact checking. Really inconsistent audio quality. Too many useless segments/dialog…. This could all be remedied by better editing. Not expecting professional quality, but the show could be so much better if it were edited more competently. I suppose this could all be fixed, but there hasn't been mp3 feed since ep 39… Oh well, I hope it is better and maybe I'll listen in the near future, but in my experience I get better One Piece discussion from message boards... and the DaizEX podcast. A podcast about DBZ. That's just sad. Hope all is well in the future.

Normally I do them for important episodes (interviews, big chapters) and since we get a fifteenth or less of the listeners on the MP3 rather than the M4A I tend to neglect it, but I'm not saying that's right. Your new iPod should remedy the situation, you have to trust me when I say that M4A is much better in both quality and a listening experience (chapters and images!).

• I would like to see more actual analysis and interpretation of chapters and tighter news coverage. More intellectual discussions please.
• I would like to see less bad jokes and stuttering. It's quite distracting when something vaguely funny is said and then it's pointed out; it kills what little joke there was. Also, the chapter and episode frame-by-frame exposition just feels like filler. I'd rather hear opinions on chapters/episodes than you guys telling me what's going on in a chapter/episode I've already read/watched. A brief overview is fine, but don't go panel-by-panel unless there's something of real worth there or someone wants to make a point about it.
• About two a week would be good.

• Audio quality is important when some crew members don't quite have radio voices and it's difficult to understand what they're saying.
• I've listened to about thirty.
• I might possibly show my friends clips, but as much as I enjoy listening, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but the most hardcore OP fans. It's a big dedication being so long and the quality is not quite to the level where it's a good thing to be so long, though it's certainly getting better.
• I basically said everything I like and don't like already, but I like everything with Greg, because his analysis is exactly what I'm looking for in a podcast and his voice is well-suited for this sort of thing. I wish he could be there every episode. The news could be edited better so it's not just 40% "good job One Piece!" and the introductions could be shortened a lot; sometimes it takes five minutes to get into anything. I'd prefer people with more suitable voices, but I've grown fond of the members doing the podcast and wouldn't really want to switch them out. Watching the episodes and having minute-by-minute feedback is cool in concept but the humor and discussion during while are rather lacking, so it may be best to just take notes ahead of time and discuss them for the podcast again. Sometimes good discussions are to be found, but a lot of times it rambles. One last point, no one cares about the fact that the Ace thing was spoiled for some of you. It was a good suggestion you made on the forums, but you basically repeated yourself about "spoiling is bad" for ten minutes and never went much farther than that.

What I liked about the podcast is what it used to be. I liked having few segments that got to the point. I may be alone here but I liked hearing the news, recaps, and not much more. I don't really listen to podcasts so maybe this isn't how they are usually done; people always need to put personality into it. I guess I was just looking for a podcast that was very plain. But now I think it's too much with lots of hosts/guests, segments I don't care about, and jokes that I don't laugh at. But tons of people like the podcast so don't mind me. I'm just not enjoying it anymore.

I like pretty much everything about the podcast, you all are entertaining, firecrouch isn't quite as spastic as he was when the podcast began, I really enjoy the discussions as well. The only critique I have really is that The audio quality could be better, I have to change the volume levels sometimes to be able to hear all of you properly (I'm not sure if its Ed's mic that is the weak one or not). Also I liked the anime recap when you went through and watched the episode and recaped it as the episode was running, it made it fun to follow along with and seemed a little more organized than the last couple of recaps have been.

What is your favorite section of the podcast? Truthfully I haven't heard them all but I enjoy the news segments because I don't follow a lot of the merch news or sales figures.
What would you like to see more of from the One Piece Podcast? This is awkward because I like raw information and I tend to bring some of that but that doesn't necessarily mean I want 'more me'. I think firecrouch and EGX do a seriously respectable job though.
What would you like to see less of? I understand some listeners confusion with so many hosts and guest-hosts. This is a rough situation because it was necessary to bring a number of people onboard to get the production moving forward, however now it might be a bit distracting with so many present at once. This is a difficult situation because it doesn't mean anyone is unecessary as everyone has something to offer but so many presences at once might be overwhelming, particularly for new listeners.
Would you like to see more/less/same amount of podcasts per week? I think you offer more than enough. It's a fan's dream.

Is audio quality important to you? It doesn't bother me but I also listened to radio in the family car for 20+ years.

Would you/have you recommended the podcast to a friend? It depends on their level of fandom. With the explicit nature and running jokes I don't know if a casual fan could pick it up right away. I found myself almost being a UOPPC apologist when I suggested it to a friend who enjoys the series casually by adding a qualifier, "But it's a little crazy."
What do you like about the podcast?/What don't you like about the podcast? I like the light-hearted nature and at the same time I think sometimes it's too chaotic. That doesn't mean the chaos isn't fun on the creative end, but I understand some people reacting to it with a, "Huh?"

• What would you like to see more of from the One Piece Podcast? Based on the episodes up to 29, some more theories about what you think might happen next, and maybe some sort of in-depth discussion on some main characters.
• What would you like to see less of? Off-topic discussion. Podcasts I've listened to previously had about half-hour episodes, so in comparison, yours always feel way too long. I think that there's a lot of chatter that could be cut out.
• Would you like to see more/less/same amount of podcasts per week? Since I haven't caught up to the current episodes yet, I don't know how often you're releasing episodes or anything. I'd say two a week would be plenty, especially considering the length of each episode.

The main thing that annoys me is having to turn the volume up to hear what someone's saying, and then have the next person almost deafen me. Background noise isn't too bad, but less is better.

Once I listen to more episodes, and if it comes up in conversation, I'd probably recommend it to them if they don't already listen to it.

Hey Guys!

So you thought I forgot about this survey, eh? Surprise! I did not…

So the first suggestion we're going to take/have been taking is limiting the amount of staff per episode. We have created a signup sheet via Google Wave for the staff to sign up for every episode this season sans a couple that are set in stone. I gave each person an amount of episodes to be on based on seniority and we go from there. There are understudies and so forth, but it gives everyone a chance to be on when they can be on. If I for some reason can't record, we can always bring them into another slot and vice verse. Here's a little look at the future, it's all very tentative:
