another option is luffy going haki crazy… effecting akainu... saving ace for the 2nd time
Too weak story-telling wise. This will make OP similar to Naruto . But shrug, it may work in the context of Luffy growing up by pushing Ace out of the story (As in, Ace being used just for the growth of the main character and then tossed aside).
-
You missed possible last minute outsiders joining the war.
-supernova
-blackbeard
-mugiwaras:wassat:????
-
I think Ace's tattoo is going to melt away and he'll get a Straw Hat jolly roger as a replacement and tribute! lol
-
Not sure what is going to happen.
I just want to see Luffy doing a gattling on Akainu, like the one he did on Lucci. -
umm…. i do not think the supernovas, or the mugiwaras will come to be honist they are wayy too weak for this war look at ace, he got raped by ankiru (soz for my language but ace really got PWNED by ankiru) what i would like to see however is Ace accnologing luffy and joining him but i do not think that will happen
-
Not sure what is going to happen.
I just want to see Luffy doing a gattling on Akainu, like the one he did on Lucci.I think the same shit will happen with Magellan.
-
@Mark:
-supernova
-blackbeard
-mugiwaras:wassat:????
All of the above are possibilities, heck even
Sam san and Minamoto might be there. :ninja:
-
Even a super haki gear 2 gatling gun should do shit to fighters on the level of Akainu… See Mihawk. He even wasn't trying

It's a very common problem called survivor guilt. When sb sacrificed to save you, your first impulse afterwards will be to harm/kill yourself (instead of taking care of yourself better). It's irrational, but it's a very natural impulse. People do this all the time. It's not that they are stupid, it's just that emotion is a strong force.
I believe this is what Ace is experiencing now. Asking him to act rationally is too much. I actually thought it's rather interesting to see. Past chapters have been really boring to me.
That's exactly why Ace disappoints. I'm not saying that these emotions don't exist I'm saying that people are able to deal even with these emotions under these circumstances. That's what sepperates great people from the rest. And with all the hype Ace received it appears as if he's supposed to become one of those great people. When I say become I'm aware that he still has a way to go and isn't there yet. However the war scenario right now is exactly one of such situations where a great person can be made. And Ace just failed to score one on that front.
-
I just noticed something….where has Kuma been these last few chapters? Think anything is behind that? Any Conspiracies?
-
Recharging his batteries perhaps? :ninja:

Possibly, or could have just thought, "I don't have time for this sh*t" and teleported back home?!
-
Lol, I'm still wondering what's inside that bible of his. Maybe he'll show up next chapter, just like Doflamingo, who went missing a few chapters back.

Captain Kuma… As a commander of the revolution you have the coordinates of Dragons main base...
-
Ahh, I think his bible is just an ordinary bible, saw him at church last sunday. But, I'm not buying that Vegapunk wiped his mind completely/ Kuma is just a weapon now. Oda is gonna pull a fast one on us….you heard it hear 1st~!
-
Just read the chapter - didn't like too much. I mean, chapter itself was good but I was already hoping the great escape. I understand that it would be stupid if the pirates were able to escape just like that but seriously, Ace whining to Luffy that he never listens to him and behaving like and idiot but then he does the same. Plus, Ace got the order from his captain, Luffy not >_<
And no, I don't hate this war but I wan't it to be over so that we can have the strawhats back because I doubt they will be joining the war since there has been no hints them getting away from where Kuma send them. Just my opinion thought… -

Are you sure? Im sure a saw a glimpse of a couple XXX links there. :ninja:

That's been speculated ever since it was revealed that his mind got erased.

LOL, I'm sure…........

It happens not that much… but this time I'm fully on your side.
I tried to explain it all the time but was bashed for it cuz I can't find the proper words like you.
i'm totally agree... THIS scenario is the best one for Ace to grow! He can't be saved all his life
-
Well, no matter what I think of Ace, I think that the next chapter is going to be amazing. I trust Oda to pull it off and hopefully, if Ace doesn't die, then actually come up with a good reason for it, unlike Pell.
-
Buggy seemed serious about killing WB now.
Ok I found it out myself, Blainheim is someone affiliated to WB pirates so I guess it is the giant commander. -
Personally, I liked the chapter, and unlike other people I really liked how Ace acted. Mostly because it was a very realistic choice for him to make. And it made for an awesome panel.
I would like to see somebody smack Akainu a good one before they leave, though.

My opinion is that people need to stop wanting the war to end just for the Straw Hat reunion, considering the insanely high chances that the rest of the manga (Fishmen Island & New World) will involve the Straw Hats almost all of the time. We should appreciate and enjoy this break from the SHs while it lasts.

All in all, Oda settled it many years ago: how many times has it been discussed what the last DF could be for the last admiral ? Why did Oda wait to the last minute to reveal it ? Simply because he had the idea long ago that Ace would be killed this way.

That doesn't make any sense.

Ace isn't going to die. He will survive, and after this he will be more of a man, and live up to the potential he has.

I thought it was lava from the beginning. The refugee ship in Robin's flashback was smoldering after Akainu blew it up. Cannons don't make things smolder. I was fairly convinced from that point on that Akainu was a Lavaman.

Funny, I thought he would become more of a man and live up to his potential when he was saved and survived the first time.

Hang on, if he just destroyed it with one of those Lava fists, why did the ship explode?

Looks like the lesson really needed to be beaten into his head. Honestly I hope that Ace survives and that the point of Akainu's attack was to give him a nice lesson in not being a retard otherwise Ace would have the dumbest death in the series. And by dumbest, I don't mean the fact that he died is dumb but the fact that he died because he was acting like a moron who couldn't keep his temper in check.
-
There's no rule that says a half-dead Ace can't turn around and beat the hell out of Akainu. For people of Ace's level versus an Admiral it seems as possible as a person of Luffy's level beating the top member of CP9. Which is to say, it's unlikely but that's why it should happen.
-
Interesting words from Garp.I think he will do some damages next chapter, of course to the marines.
Garp vs Akainu would be great. -

the rule is "you have no clue"!
-in this chapter we are discussing right now akainu stated that his logia-power surpasses those of ace…just look when they first clashed in this chapter ace got burned..
so now with a hole in his stomach and near that he turns around to fight such a dangerous admiral still in top condition and with the will to kill both(ace and luffy) no matter what...
well........... -

Garp vs Akainu would be great. That would really suck.

garp and sengoku will most likely in my eyes attack now WB..
-
Enter Trafalgar Law… Shambles!!

I'm actually with this idea, just cause I've realized something. Throughout this war, have the marines lost anything but soldiers? The Whitebeard crew has had their top men injured, and seem to be losing WB soon, but the marines…I dunno. I guess a lot of their VAs have gone down but that's not the same thing is it?
Various people on the sidelines have said WB is going to destroy the island. As it's been said, Ace has a bunch of ways of surviving this attack despite the vivre card. Thanks to Buggy the cameras to this event are working again. This is all clearly working towards something big, and I don't believe the marines are going to get away unscathed.
-
Quite dramatic… but we see, its this kind of manga afterall. Good chapter, finally different views.

i rly hope you are right…besides a few pacifistas and some VA the marines are just dominating this WAR!..
i wouldn`t be surprised when WB takes with him sengoku...so akainu could be new fleet admiral and sop the marines would get a darker tone overall..would be a good chance of things. -
Mr. Fire Fist got fire fisted.
how ironic …
-
Fire only empowers magma. Ace could try all he wants, it would just make it easier for Akainu.
Ace is dead. WB is soon. I just hope that Vegapunk can not extract DF powers from dead people before the fruit appears elsewhere in the world ! :-o -

I understand your disappointment. But psychological problem is a problem because people don't usually realize it until someone else hammer it onto their brain how irrational they are, which is why I use the word "Impulse" as in his body moves before he thinks. It's like how you see someone punch your beloved, and the first thing you do is to punch him back. It's like reflex. You don't think of the reasons or consequences until you are done punching.
I think you just had high expectations of Ace's greatness and then got disappointed. Ace is only ONE YEAR older than Sanji and Zoro. He's definitely not going to be as calm and collected as older people like Shanks or Whitebeard. It's much more natural that he's as hot-blooded as Sanji and Zoro (in particular, his suicidal behavior here and Sanji's suicidal behavior in Baratie arc are very similar).
-
Big thread, but did anybody notice the return of Barret from the spade pirates on page 10? So he's not the same guy boa took out(no fur).

Even if Ace had time to think he would of still did the samething. I don't understand how taking a death blow makes you a weak minded person.

I don't know what would happen to Sengoku afterwards, but a new leading with a possibly a new "evil" agenda would mix thing up for the rest of the series.

Whitebeard will take Sengoku out. It'd be ridiculous if Whitebeard doesn't kill a big timer now.
