@Ulrilra:
Who says they're missing? You just can't see them through the magma smoke. There is no proof so far that he is Logia. Nor is there proof that he isn't Logia. Until something goes completely through his body and comes out the other side or until there is nothing but air where a part of his body should be, it's up for question.
I get your point, I just don't buy it. There's no proof, but there's visual evidence, and plenty of it. If Akainu isn't a logia, then Oda has gone out of his way to make it seem that Akainu is a logia, when he is in fact not.
The panels people here are using as evidence of him being a logia, as you say, don't show anything going through his body–-yet it is obvious that readers would interpret these panels as portraying logia powers.
For example, the page with three admirals all together (posted on the last page)--it's natural for the reader to see two of the admirals we already know (logia users), and see the third one with them apparently using a similar power. Who wouldn't make that connection? There's obviously an intended visual likeness we're supposed to see among the three admirals and their powers. We're supposed to think he's a logia.
But if Akainu isn't a logia, it must be the case that Oda is misdirecting us, no? That's the problem. It would seem to be a stupid reveal. "Ha, got you, he wasn't a logia!" Unless there is a good plot reason for Oda to be misleading us regarding Akainu's powers, then I think you just have to accept that we're supposed to realize it's a logia power.
If you can think of a good plot reason for the misdirection, I'd love to hear it.* Otherwise, I think we should just move on.
*The only plausible reason I can think of would be that somehow Akainu turning out to be a paramecia would make him weaker. But that hardly seems the case, as we have seen that strong pirates treat logias more or less as solids through their haki (or whatever they're doing, if you don't like that term). In that sense, as long as Akainu's opponent can use haki/whatever, he doesn't really have that advantage anymore anyways, rendering any reveal unnecessary.
