According to the latest Weekly Jump, a new movie has been greenlit, shall be released in 2013 & will be written by Sorachi himself! :D
The anime has also been slated to return to TV on October 4th, but its not known if its new episodes or just reruns, more likely the latter.

New episodes coming soon:
Sunrise and TV Tokyo's official websites for the Gintama television anime series confirmed on Sunday that Gintama will return every Thursday at 6:00 p.m., starting October 4. In addition to "Yorinuki Gintama-san" (a repeat of selected Gintama anime episodes), the broadcast will include new Gintama episodes. The main staff and cast will return for the new episodes.

I wasn't a big fan of the first part of this story but this chapter is gold. Especially that ending. Brilliant -

Shogun stories usually prove to have Sorachi's top game humour. But even considering that, the Shou-chan tetraptych is probably my favorite in a while. The ending turn was something I secretly hoped for. Pure satisfaction.
I hope the volume with this story will have both Katsura and Shou-chan side by side on the cover.

I'm loving how they've gone that extra mile and on erased gintoki from the websites and all that stuff with kintoki listed as the main character. ANd appearently the tv listing even shows kintama rather than gintama. This is why I think Gintama has such an amazing anime- its staff just have a ton of fun with it

i loved that episode. I like how even the opening and endings have been altered to have kintoki and all the characters are reacting more friendly to him in it as well

Yeah but I'm pretty sure it was also mentioned that those repeats would be aired on their secondary:yoronuki gintama San show.
So really? A freaking reairing of an old episode? Well that part of my week is spoiled. :(

I'm still catching up to Gintama, so this is probably old news, but I read the posts in this thread in the beginning of February (when volume 43 came out) and I didn't see anyone talking about it, so I decided to post anyway.
Is everyone aware that Sorachi changed almost all of Mantama for the volume release? The second half of that chapter is full of added panels, pages completely rearranged and extra dialogue. The chapter was much better like this, but I wonder why Sorachi went through that trouble. Maybe he finished that chapter in a rush and later wanted to do it justice?

I double checked on the Yorozuya Soul forums, and this has been brought up there at least. Not as in much detail as here though, this was really interesting. Much cooler than the original ending :D

It has been known ever since when they announced the new season that it was going to be partially reruns.It's a bummer, yeah, but nothing that unexpected.
Good way to rewatch a few old episodes and helps them not catch up to the source material, I guess.
