Nice Toriko chapter this week. They just keep adding on to the suspense.

Check it out. This chapter's shorter than normal, but I really liked it. It's nice seeing Komatsu stand up for his beliefs.
Given this preamble, the next arc's gonna be exciting… -
The cuestionaries thing was a subtle jab at Shonen Jump..
-
Thanks so much, the wait is painful when all the other jump mangas get translated right away.
-
The vast majority don't get translated right away. The only other chapters out this week are the ones mangastream came out with, which is I think 3 or 4. There are 20 mangas in Jump.
-
I really liked this one. I'm glad to see that Komatsu has a strong personality.
-
I just got re-caught up again (I was behind 3 chapters) an it looks to me that the collecting ingredients/ training saga is about over
-
That Tao pai pai chef is the most badass looking chef i ever saw in my life.
-
Yeah, the one eyed and ninja chef's were pretty baller
-
Anybody feels like speculating what the bean is?
-
I assumed it was a BB Corn type of thing that becomes the actual food once it's cooked right. Like it becomes something else.
Clearly it requires some difficult cooking. They basically said that before, that Ichiryuu had no one to cook the course. -
-
@Fire Fist:
It's a Senzu Bean.
Don't do it.
Anyhow maybe not by chapters pace but i love Toriko's general going. It is and it is going to be an awesome serie. I think i like it more than One Piece.
-
This chapter was okay, i have feeling we have seen this type of ending for while now, better show robo thing then the foot print,we already know what it is.
This part with Coco was bit disapointing. -
Anybody feels like speculating what the bean is?
Beats me.
But I think it might have something to do with a giant, a goose, and some golden eggs. -
-
I find it hilarious for all this buildup we get a small bean (it's the visual representation, i don't doubt the taste when used right will be awesome.) I think Coco may be onto something though, maybe it can be grown into something? You know so you don't have to reacquire it every time.
This is a bit of speculation that if it ends up true would really give a lot of potential development towards Komatsu. I find it rather particular that his friend is specifically on the 100th place. I can see Komatsu somehow (unintentionally because of his good intentions) surpassing his friend in this arc in terms of cooking and finally enter in the top 100.
-
I think Komatsu is already a better chef but the other guy is better at working the system. I really look forward to the next arc. It's a great chance for them to have an actual long arc and finally head into the gourmet world.
-
Even if the previous chapter came abruptly, it still got tied in nicely. Lucky Komatsu - if his friend was not so spoiled, he would've got caught too.
-
Now that i think about it, Komatsu isn't that special anymore since there are many people that can hear the ingredients' voices. Or maybe that bean is so special that every chef heard it (Judging from the strong electromagnetic waves Coco saw)?
-
Well we got a large sum of news from the chapter:
1.) Volume 17 and the "Gourmet Hunting" fanbook will be coming out November 4th, the "Gourmet Hunting" book contains secret data on characters, wild beasts, and unexplored regions. I like the idea of an encyclopedia for Toriko. It's like the Devil Fruit Guide in One Piece. Hopefully we can get a scanlate of that.
2.) The Toriko One-Shot and the One Piece X Toriko crossover "The Actual Food! The Devil Fruit!!" will be 'compiled' for the first time.
3.) Tommyrod shows up in the anime! October 2nd. Lets see how Toei plays him out, as a fan-fav villain.
But onto the chapter. Obviously now we're not getting a Komatsu rescue arc. But I wonder what the Gourmet Corp. wants with Ootake. Maybe it wasn't them? Next week should provide some answers. Or not.
-
guys, the psp game's new trailer is about the ice hell arc, and we get to hear tommy's voice and the other characters too. nice trailer really.
-
Wow Tommy actually sounds pretty good. Looking forward to the anime now.
-
As someone who's seen more of the anime than manga, I am now really excited for the Ice Hell arc 8D
-
If the adaption of the Ice Hell arc manages somehow to be good, then I will consider the anime redeeming itself.
But if the anime continues on its normal course, the arc will be a disappointment, and I will forever abandon all hope of the Toriko anime being anything I want to see.
hurry up and take down pretty cure already Oda, so that they can have more budget to spend on better properties
-
@Sauza:
It annoyed me since she did it like 5 times.
But she made the soup sound so…evil.
I think the Seiyuus are having way too much fun with this series.
-
Tina in ice hell.
-
haha, oh man, the ice hell arc is going to suck so much in the anime. I actually might watch this, just to see how much they are going to fuck it up.
I mean, can you even imagine how toriko vs tommyrod will turn out? -
Tommyrod will lose a wing, and Toriko will have his arm seriously injured. I said at the beginning of the i'll give it until the end of ice hell to know if i'll quit or not , but it's been a while since i'm wanting to stop watching it…
-
Toriko will have to lose the arm. The mini-arc with Yosaku and Komatsu trying to faction the True Century Soup will have NO MEANING in the anime if it does not happen. Toei has shown things like that before in the Toriko anime. Just no blood. They showed Mansom getting impaled by the GT Robo, and many other things. Who knows what direction they'll take this, since the arc in and of itself is gory from start to finish. But I want Toei to take it slow with this one. This is an arc that CANNOT be rushed through. The pace they are at right now with 1-2 chapters is perfect IMO. But we'll just have to wait and see.
Honestly though, if he loses the arm and no blood is shown, than I will be more than satisfied.
-
A serious injury band-aid can't fix? I wonder how the next arc will unfold with the healing and what not…

I'm well aware that the healing process in life and Komatsu cooking the Century Soup can't be skipped just like that. But since this is the Toriko anime, Toie could always find a way to not get the dude's arm cut. One of those can be having his bones crushed and being unable to heal unless they go to Yosaku. Or something like that…
-
Not chapter related but i just watched and read a ton of toriko and went to a buffet after, needless to say i closed the place haha. Ugh a recipe for destruction in hindsight id say
-
the potential for this upcoming saga/arc is beyond awesome. this manga is too good
-
I'm going to be so disappointed when it comes time to fight. doesn't tommy rod also lose and arm?
-
@Sauza:
Tina in ice hell.
What? FOR FUCK SAKES!!! Ice Hell no longer lives up to its name now! WHAT THE FUCK, TOEI!!!

….how much food did you actually eat?

An arm, a wing and 3 holes through his torso.
Again, I can't wait to see this. Honestly, I'm not even joking, I just wonder how they are going to get through this arc at all.
It's not just Tommyrod, but the battle of the branch chefs were also pretty violent and graphic, especially the one with the bulky anti-freeze guy. If it only would have ended with this…what's going to happen with tommy biting of torikos finger off? Or just scenes like the bugs penetrating torikos skin? Bugs crawling out of severed body parts of that yakuza grunt? All these people getting killed, with their corpses decorating the interior of the ship? -

I really don't get how they'll be able to show any of that stuff with the restrictions they are working with. That's gonna take some fancy footwork to make this arc as awesome as it was in the manga, while toning it down.
-
so finally trying to catch up on the anime a little bit and I noticed something. Grinparch sucked up the mouse whole but when they showed him sucking up a " ugly/scary monster" it was more graphic.
now having seen this I have no doubt that Ice hell will be buffed nerffed and no blood.
plus tina. :| -
lol at the way Setsuno says "Century Soup" in the anime :lmao
-
Ugh it's SOO good to see Coco again! What a boss.

That would contradict the later fact - Toriko fell a shitload of kilometres from waterfall basen of life and still got his body intact. His bones are very sturdy and cells regenerate fast. Toei will have to say that blasts turned Toriko's bones into powder.

Falling at high speed is nothing compared to fighting a Bishokukai chef, but hey that was just an example anyway, and a pretty bad one.
I'm sure Toei can come up with something else, just wait for something like this.

Oh and match's leg will be frozen, nothing will happen after that i guess, nothing.
-
"Even with half his mustache left he still has such power!"
One Piece is other story, they had to stay as close as possible and change brutal moments for something equal. Toriko is still young and anime already has bad credit story. They can pull something weak and move on. -
He can still lose the arm guys. Since it furthers the story I think they would keep it. Just not show him losing it directly. But who knows, it's the way he loses his arm that might cause an edit. I just hope they don't make a foolish choice.
-
Oh god, a broken fork it'll be.
-
@Kaba:
….how much food did you actually eat?
Lets just say it was so much i forgot how much it was after a while haha.
Finally decided to try and catch up on the rest of the manga since id been holding off on getting too far in hopes that the actual volumes would come out quicker. Right in the middle of ice hell chapter 80 at the moment, freaken awesome too.

Ah yes. That was reaaaaly great. Definitely one of the more memorable experiences I've had reading manga. If you weren't sold by then you'd probably never be sold on the series. And honestly why wouldn't you be sold because that arc was too awesome for words. I really hope Shimabukurou can make another great arc like that.
-
You know, the way he loses arm is not that brutal. It just explodes, and cells and frost quickly closed the wound. Even in manga there was not so much blood. Even with fight being so brutal, there was no tasteless gore showed in our faces, I give Shimabukuro credit for that. He used dem angles good. I'm interested if they will leave Tommy biting hand off.
