Gun&Rose == The black turtle.I remember talking about this earlier with Tokoro Ataru. He pointed out how "Genbu" is sometimes represented as both as snake and a turtle.
Zebra with a dragon seems appropriate, but I do think the parallels might be a bit of a stretch. Plus, an underwater animal would be a nice addition to the gang.

I don't think he's supposed to. If he was at their level he wouldn't have been able to catch the Shining Gourmet. His talents are cooking and being gentle, or someone food likes…or how ever they phrased that.

But all the other legendary chefs in the manga are freaking strong. And it's all due to the combo they formed. I think it's inferred that Komatsu will eventually reach their level. Well not necessarily their level, but strong enough to hold his own and survive in the gourmet world.

I thinking it's implied that he won't become strong in the way the other notable chefs were. I think that's the whole point is that He'll need Toriko. Although I don't really like having one character having to be constantly protected I feel that with Komatsu it's fine. He's not meant to be able to solo. He can obtain things others can't because of his gentleness and cooking skill. But he's not meant to be doling out punches like Toriko. It's also part of the reason the other Kings have taken a liking to him.

It's not enough to be visible and it doesn't necessarily have to be physical, but he is way stronger than before and his senses are way more enhanced. I doubt he could act out his food luck senses way back in the beginning like he's doing now.

what does komatsu need to be strong for if he has that awesome knife? i think that subtlety is his skill, as many of you are seeming to put it. with gentleness and subtlety, he should be able to dish out some pretty devastating attacks when he needs to with that knife alone.

I disagree lol. I don't think he's stronger in a physical sense if that's what you mean. A bit more mentally…maybe...But his senses are sharp. I'm not sure if you could say they've improved. He's just coming across different ingredients. The Kings are the ones that have to improve so they can get Komatsu to the rare ingreidents. He seems to be more of a natural.

When I said stronger I meant mentally, I specifically said not necessarily physically. And the way I see it, going through all the life and death experiences that he has, there is no way that komatsu hasn't gained something from every journey. He doesn't even really get scared anymore, that's more than enough proof of growth.

To be more accurate; Komatsu (well, Komatsu & Toriko together) was described to give the same vibe as Acacia & Frohze. Til now, we don't know if Frohze was physically strong at all.
I think Komatsu will never be "physically" strong because he's just not that type of a character. But I'm sure Shimabukuro will make good use of his abilities just like whar he have been doing in the recent arcs.

Bishokukai is looking for chefs, they want top ones from IGO's ranked 100, but many are very strong fighters themselves especially the top 30. (Bunch of famous chefs with titles mentioned here)
While they're discussing the difficulty of catching top chef, Stajyunn says "well for good chef there is…" (You know where this is going)

I liked this chapter: it really gives more of the background of the importance not only of having the means to get the best food in the world, but to have the best chefs that can bring out the best. (thus the importance of Komatsu…heck, even Starjun's joined his followers) Also nice we're finally getting some BG about Komatsu and that he has an inner circle of chef friends...which probably will end up leading to the "female rescue" arc as someone pointed out.
Heh...seeing the sickness of Tommyrod, I really need to get back to catching up on the series. I still haven't finished the Regal Mammoth arc.

I really hope that scarred dark skinned guy is the Poison cook. He's similar to Coco. So I guess Frohze is dead, because they didn't mention him, or he's retired a long time ago. It seems Komatsu is not too far from getting in the top 100, because he's the head chef of a 6 star restaurant and his friend's one is 7 star. I'd like Zaus to be Ichiryuu's partner, two badass old men fuck yeah.
Another interesting note, the GT Robos are really advanced now, if they successfully implemented the mimicry feature in them. That made the Nitro so powerful in the Gourmet Pyramid.
