If Komatsu is taken too then we might get to see him checking out the bad guys from the inside, which I would find quite entertaining.
Toriko

it was after Ulquiorra died that bleach went downhill for me.
Holy shit, you might win a record. I am amazed someone continued to enjoy Bleach for that long.
-
Let's never talk about Bleach in this thread ever again. Well, anyways, the anime is entering the Century Soup arc. In the next episode Toriko and Komatsu go to Gourmet Town and meet Setsuno. I hope this arc is done justice in the anime. I hope Toriko loses his arm. I hope they don't censor Tommyrod's RAPE faces. And I hope that Tina's ass ain't comin' along for the ride.
As for Tommy's seiyu, I hope they make a good choice. I always thought that Ryūsei Nakao (Freeza) would be good choice, he always makes a good villain.
!
-
If this does turn out to be a Komatsu rescue arc, then it has the potential to be all sorts of epic win. Komatsu will most likely be taken back to the castle and interrogated by Joejoe into his connections with the four kings. In addition, Komatsu could make conversation with Starjyun in prison about his reasons for being with the Bishokukai which could give us some possible back story into Starjyun and the origins of the Bishokukai. Toriko, Coco, Sani and Zebra will then learn of Komatsu's kidnapping and will put their differences aside just to get him back which could only mean one thing: Assault on the castle Bishokukai!
Expect to see plenty of battles against other Bishokukai members too!
Holy crap! This is starting to sound like Enies Lobby!
And am I the only one who thinks that Takeuchi bears a striking resemblance to Light Yagami?
-
For the record, rescue arcs are bad as a general rule of thumb, much like tournament arcs.
However that doesn't mean they can't be done well (especially if the series plays them very tongue-in-cheek).
-
Gaah! I need to read next week's chapter! That will set us up for what's to come!!
We need time machines.
-
You could try getting yourself into a one week coma too~
-
In this week's episode, Toriko is sweaty after chasing ninjas in a shopping mall.

I for one, loved the first three Dragon Ball Tournaments (4 if you count Baba's Tournament, which was also quite good).
And I thought YuYuHakusho's Dark Tournament wasn't half bad either. It wasn't the best thing ever, but it was pretty damn entertaining and had really epic and spectacular moments.
Naruto's Chuunin examn arc was pretty much the best thing in the whole damn manga, and it was a tournament!
And. . .Well, and that's it, cause I don't quite remember any other tournament right now. Well, there's Kinnikuman's tournaments, but the whole manga is like a huge tournament made of smaller ones, so it would be kinda pointless. . .
So I guess the whole point of this post is to say that I have a soft spot for tournament arcs. . .And that's it.
Gourmet World Tournament, anyone?
-
As I said, rescue arcs, like tournament arcs are generally terrible as a rule of thumb, but that doesn't mean they can't be compelling.
-
How about war arcs?
-
Then I guess I gotta thank my limited manga knowledge, cause I haven't read any terrible tournament arc yet. . .Or at least, not that I remember.
War arcs? Well, it depends. I liked Marineford even with all of it's problems. I hated the Bleach war. I'm not following Naruto at the moment.
Berserk has some kick-ass war chapters, but I don't know if they are "war arcs" or what. FMA's ending, the same. Nausicaa is like a giant war, and it's incredibly good.
So, I'd say war arcs can be pretty good. . .unless you are Kubo.
-
War arc would be weird when we know more bad guys than good ones. And this might be actually true if there's strictly an IGO vs Bishokukai match.
-
Too soon for war, there's no particular reason to unleash one. But there sure will be one when the time to search for GOD comes.
-
You could try getting yourself into a one week coma too~
Already tried that once, but I overshot at about 5 months~

think of how many chapters you got to read though!!!

Haha when I mentioned this post last night recording the Toriko Podcast, JT, Leon and Firecrouch didn't believe me and where like "wuh?"!
But then when I saw the NEP I told them and they believed me~
think of how many chapters you got to read though!!!
Yeah that was a plus. But waking up in the middle of the road in a Batman costume is something I never want to experience again.
-
I re-read Toriko the past week, and man. The Tommy fight is as epic as ever !
Oh, by the way, I'm new around here
-
Well, welcome to the AP Forums
And I think all the Century Soup Arc was kind of awesome ;p
-
An example of an excellent villain.
-
Yeah. It was good to go back and see Match and Takimaru. None of them were implanted with Gourmet Cells, right ? Cool they could win over clearly superior opponents. It would be nice to see them with cells.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Well welcome! We have some pretty good discussions around here. And a podcast.
But back on track I feel the next chaper will be amazing. Only a few more days left…
Thank, and I will definitely be checking that out
-
I'm eagerly awaiting all the awesome fights in the anime. I hope Match and Takimaru look good.
-
best villain of all. >.> when toriko can have a villain this good. I'll fall in love. -
I need to watch the anime, but I'm too lazy. I am still in Toriko vs Stajun (don't remember how you write it).
_
Is the anime good? -
I just can't imagine the sheer brutality of the Tommy vs Toriko fight animated. They'll have to replace things like the loss of Toriko's arm/hand, just like in the manga where his finger got bitten off, and was instead replaced with a broken fork.
-
Toei has kept all the moves the same except removed the blood completely. I think Toriko will lose his hand but it won't be shown directly and when it comes to the anime I can see him losing his arm but there being no blood.
I mean he has to lose something or else the whole Yosaku and the Reviver's arc will serve no purpose.
-

Is the anime good? The anime is a bit lack luster in my opinion. I think if it had the same vibe and animation the oav did, it'd be more awesome. But it's very toned down on blood and bodily damage. And well what kills me the most is the addition of Tina. Annoying female reporter. It's nice to see some scenes animated but usually nothing to write home about. You may like it, some here do. Other like me grouse from week to week lol.
As for Toriko loosing his arm. I think it'll just be limp and they'll say something like his nerves are dead time to get that fixed. Although it's far less awesome than regrowing a arm. It'd be a pleasant surprise if they actually keep with the arm loss.
-
I'm completely caught up with Toriko. I gotta say this series is covered in chocolate-coated awesome. A huge world with new info every chapter, a diverse cast always growing stronger, and so much fun to be had.
I do agree, how will they cover the Toriko vs. Tommyrod fight in the anime. It was brutal.
-
I wish they would have left the gore be :getlost: The upcoming fights in Ice Hell just won't be the same without it. I'm also pretty sure that they'll be cutting that scene where the penguin parents are penetrated by the huge ass centipede away.
-
Hm, I really don't care about gore/blood/stuff like that. But, besides that, how is the art and animation?
-

I love you.…....
-
Decent, just lately a little bit too much colorful rays and beams and lights that should've been attack animations instead. Just like when Mihawk attacked Whitebeard.
-
Just wanted to drop in and say your Toriko Podcast experience might sound a little different next time around…

Fairly lackluster.
In my opinion the anime isn't worth your time.
I gave it several chances and it only continued to disappoint. -

best villain of all. >.> when toriko can have a villain this good. I'll fall in love.I was thinking of Good Guys turned bad… and realized that's what Kishi was going for with Sasuke but failed horribly at it.
-
Well, the Century Soup arc in the anime has officially started and it appears that Toei will be taking their time with it as today's episode actually went by slower than usual. It was funny to see Komatsu having his life threatened with a meat tenderizer.
And does anyone know who is doing Setsuno's voice? I thought it sounded like Masako Nozawa at first but now I'm not sure.

Here is the spoiler script of chapter 157, with my rough translation: http://juinjutsuteam.forumcommunity.net/?t=47686541

And happy to see more people are getting into Toriko.

! Holy shit Terry's huge! He grew that much already? I'd say he's almost if not already ready for the Gourmet World!
! And Coco's got some nice long hair! Looks like everyone's assumptions about a Coco and Toriko arc were not far-fetched at all!
! And looks like we finally get some sort of (mini-)flashback about the 4 Kings and Ichiryu, and Coco's got some sporty new Poison Armour!
! I guess the Twin Kugi Punch is easier for Toriko now since he uses it again, three times in a row!!
I guess this chapter is Coco and Toriko trying to open a chest in the 8th (I think?) Biotope.
Which means that Komatsu's fate won't be decided this week. Guess I wouldn't missed much if I put myself in a coma, Jay~ -
!
Among other things
-
! It looks like Toriko and Coco found One Piece!
-
Can someone rehost the pictures? Juinjutsu nor Animeprodestiny won`t work on my computer X_X

! So, a change of pace from last chapter. But I believe the discontinuation is only temporary and Toriko and Coco will probably learn about Komasu's abduction at the end of their mini advanture.
! But it's nice to be granted a peak into the 4 kings' past togather, and it's also interesting to learn Ichiryu's trouble where apparently no chef can handle the food he collects. Finally, since I didn't pay too much attention to beast levels and such, it was a bit surprsing to me that Coco basically one-shotted a lv 74 beast. I guess soon we're going into either 3-digit or unknown level territory.
! Also, I wanna point out that after the character poll, both Tommy and Coco got image change and look better in a bishi way. Shimabukuro sure knows all about marketing (not criticizing) -
So it looks like this arc's gonna be a little non-linear in that it has The Toricoco scene going on and Komatsu's scene going on elsewhere.
I don't think anyone in here really keeps track of it. But Toriko does generally really well in the ratings, it always gets in the top 10 each week, but that's largely because of its timeslot being right before One Piece. But it's generally been doing well even for there. It's at 7.6 this week which is about the highest it's been. it fluctuates some, but averages around 6.6
Also, the Toriko PSP game is selling really well. For an anime game anyhow.
ジャンプゲームの売り上げ
DS ワンピース 33万本
PSP トリコ 12万5000本
PS3 NARUTO 12万本
DS ドラゴンボール改 7万5000本
PS3 BLEACH 4万本That's a list of sales of recent Jump games.
DS One Piece 330,000 units
PSP トリコ 125,000 units
PS3 NARUTO 120,000 units
DS Dragonball Kai 75,000 units
PS3 BLEACH 40,000 unitsThey don't list the subtitles of each game, but someone could probably figure those out if they went through the effort. Point is that that game sold really well (It sold 125K after a month). And Toriko's doing well ratings wise, so it'll most likely get picked up for a 2nd year. And maybe get another video game. Toriko seems really suited to a fighting game, don't you think? With all the characters that have special attacks and all.
