Kinda uneventful but Zebra's echolocation was fun.
Toriko

@ultimateclima:
I don't really think Komatsu has to beat powerful monsters on his own. It always seem contradictory to his loved by all ingredient vibe and his role as a chef if he slices up monsters left and right. Sure he COULD but the story would be off if Komatsu was just another badass that travels with Toriko.
It is not the chefs duty to be strong in the duo but it can definitely help to be able to defend yourself especially when your separated from your partner. I mean look at Setsuno, she didn't look like a fighter at all but she had years of experience gathering all sorts of ingredients and I'm sure along the way she had to pick up fighting skills just to survive.
A kitchen knife is not a combat weapon, and komatsu is not a fighter.
A kitchen knife is a not a weapon by design but that particular was shown to be able to do a little bit more than just cut vegatables. Komatsu is indeed not a fighter but that doesn't mean in times of desperation it can't do something surprising.
-
I don't know, Komatsu could definitely fit the Usopp-type roll quite well. At first he's a generally weak person who excels in one area and is mainly around to give the perspective of a normal person, but his desire to contribute could cause him to rise above mediocrity and kick some ass. Or not…we shall see.

Yes, it's strong, yes if it was a sword it would be kick ass, but it's a tool for cooking, created with the will of Melk and Komatsu to be that.
For a chef using it's knifes for something other than cooking is a disgrace. Yes, he's on a desperate situation, yes he needs to become stronger, yes he's about to face a giant beast or something, but he's a shounen character, he would rather die than to bring disgrace to his craft, and he won't die because Toriko and Zebra will arrive on time.
And what if he takes it out this time and uses it as a combat weapon? Every time that a monster jumps out komatsu will take his knife and stab/slash it? Remember the core moral of the plot, don't hunt to kill, hunt to eat. That knife can cut hard as fuck stone with minimal force, it's a mortal weapon, what will komatsu do with it's dead, or mutilated targets? cook them? bring them back to the hotel to nurture them? eat them?
Whatever Komatsu's skill will be, it won't be a killing style, it will be something related to making the beast ignore him, or accept him.

The flashback showed her fighting alongside her partner when gathering ingredients. Komatsu always been shown to be afraid of giant monsters, and especially as of late, has been shown as being attracted to ingredients.
That's not saying it can't be done, but The manning up just seems contradictory to where Komatsu's character is headed.

Chapter 131 is up on Manga Reader… Just sayin'.

Don't use mangareader, they stick watermarks on other people's stuff.
Just download it from our site here:

Thanks Kewl
-
Your the faster release this week and thus I shall read thy Toriko
-
I wonder what fresh hell awaits them inside the pyramid.
Also I feel its about time for the Bishouku-kai to return to the forefront. -
Just as long as Tommyrod doesn't come back (for a while, anyway. I know he's coming back eventually). The guy was cool at first, then he just got really fucking disgusting. Grinpatch returning would be cool. Didn't he use some kind of sound-based abilities, too? He'd be a perfect match for Zebra, then.
-
16 chars of thanks, Kewl!

Thanks man.
Oh by the way, care to dispell a rumour ?
-
We released Toriko first last week, too. It's just in the previous 4 weeks we were behind because my cleaner's computer wasn't working right. In theory we should be able to finish on Fridays. Though I'm still looking for places to get earlier raws.
-
Thanks again kewl , I mean after all you are doing all this for free and all.
Oh I want to ask, there is this nasty HXH rumour going around with your name on it. Any input on the whole "comming back" thing ?
-
lol at zebura getting pissed at the desert for "telling lies"
great chapter. cruel - teasing us with a one panel zebura flashback.
-
I didn't start that up, people were posting multiple sources about the HXH thing in mangahelpers and 2ch and people believed it so it seemed right. Looks like it wasn't though. Though it's likely to start again within the coming months anyhow given how long it's been off.
And yeah, it does look like maybe we'll get a LITTLE more about Toriko's background. This arc seems like it'll be about developing Zebura, too. But all this stuff about "Toriko used to be a Chain Animal" and their "training days" and how they became the "Four Heavenly Kings" may be coming up.
-
Yes! The duo finally reached Gourmet Pyramid!
And Komatsu looks to be sliding towards what could be the pyramid's true base where the cola lies.

Actually, it would be perfect for Grinpatch to come back. When you think about it, he has that giant straw and some people like to drink their sodas with straws.

Man, that 3D map that resulted from Zebra's Echo Location ability was pretty cool! Now I see why Toriko will benefit from having Zebra onboard. I'm thinking in the next chapter, Toriko and Zebra will go around deciphering some of the pyramid's various puzzles while Komatsu will arrive at the absolute base of the pyramid where the cola lies. Although, he will probably be trapped until Toriko and Zebra come to rescue him.
-
Somebody said Grimpatch should show up, I agree
-
By the way guys, it's supposed to be Grinparch based on the Japanese. I updated it in later mentions. It's an elongated a- which I had confused with acchi. And yeah, he'll probably show up. It's been enough time since his last appearance.
-
I agree, that would be awesome.
-
I really wish there was a whole chapter of flashbacks of when the heavenly kings were kids. I was satisfied with this chapter though… n_n
-
I'm pretty sure we will get our flashback chapter but I don't see it happening anytime soon. If anything, this arc will mostly just serve to show off Zebra's powers.
-
I love how creative Zebras voice power is turning out. It reminds me of early one piece, where Oda would take classic abilities like Rubber and Sand and go crazy with them. Though it's kind of annoying that out of all the heavenly kings, Toriko has the dullest powers. He punches stuff, and smells stuff. Not quite as interesting as poison creation/living hair/super sound abilities.

Man, how come nobody is talking about how Zebura's gonna try to take Komatsu for himself (as a partner perhaps)?
There's so much foreshadowing for this
-
Huh ?

Whaa? I'd say there is just as much chance as Zebra trying to eat him.
-
Though I don't believe it's obvious or there's mounds of foreshadowing for it, I do believe Puripuri is on to something because I did get the same vibe. It seems like Zebra is gradually taking a liking to Komatsu and his comment to Toriko about, "Are you sure he feels the same way?" is pretty suspect. It could very well be that Zebra is actually a lonely guy. After all, the other kings, his last line of friendship, don't want to have anything to do with him.
-
Eh, he could try, but Komatsu will say no for sure.
-
http://mangastream.com/read/toriko/91997662/4
Quite an obvious hint. As the aftermath of this arc Komatsu might become a reason for tension, conflict or even a fight between Toriko and Zebra. Probably, depends on what Shimabukuro wants to do with Zebra - make him a friendly rival or a full on enemy
-
And all this time I thought Puripuri was just being an attention whore. :(
-
I'm also getting that vibe, but I doubt that zebra will be a full fledged villain just because he doesn't get what he wants. There's bound to be some kind of compromise. He'll be the problem child of the group but is still an ally, otherwise there'd be no need to justify his actions and try to make him look good in the eyes of the fans. (though he did kill a bunch of prisoners just because they bad mouth him)
-
Ever since Zebra rescued that kid from a desert monster without having to, his chances of becoming a villain evaporated instantly.
-
God forbid a good natured antogonist. Well, at least in shonen.
At this point, I can't really expect Zebra to end up anything else rather than a main cast regular - though it would have been interesting to see him, say, join Bishokukai. Concerning the partner business, it should lead to some kind of climax, however, Zebra should get over it quite fast, seeing the fabulous teamwork of Toriko and Komatsu, and may be, going with a wish to find a partner for himself.
Now I wonder, will all four of them have partner when they finally go to the New World?

Uhm…..intentional ? :ninja:

Antagonist/rival? Definetely possible. Evil villain = completely unlikely was what I meant.

I thought the same thing, but I didn't bring it up or anything, and SIlverblade just posted the page where this was first hinted. :)

Those guys would be way too cocky for Zebra to partner with.

After five years of waiting, this concept has only one name in my mind.
@The:

That was a bit of irony. I agree that the paths of the Kings won't differ that much.

I can imagine that. Just as what will Zebra say about everyone running after an ingridient named "God".

The official TV anime site is up
Looking good so far but who the heck is that reporter lady? -

-
I just finished watching the little promotional video with the two main actors and GOD, that Komatsu costume is scary as hell!
-
I just started reading this manga. And i have to say it's the only manga that's similar to One Piece. The animals, the comedy, and the cooking theme. I read the first chapter and died of bouncing around the walls in joy and then hitting my head on the ceiling fatally.
-
I just caught up. Godfuck this series is epic. I was pleasantly surprised by how useful and respected Komatsu turned out to be, and how terrifying and intimidating the many of the antagonists are (Tommyrod was ridiculous).
