I'm mostly concerned with those little Majin-looking guys in saiyan armor on the DBZ one.
But if the One Piece special is really what it is predicted to be, that'd be quite awesome.

Can't see the image yet but somehow having the first Romance Dawn be animated makes sense to me. It has the Shanks flashback and the ending where we see "Luffy out at sea with his crew", plus it can easily be placed between Luffy leaving his home and ending up on Alvida's ship. Though with Silk…I wonder if now he'll have a deja-vu to Nami...

Seeing Sunny there, I think the Straw Hats will appear after the whole adventure is over, like that last scene in the Romance Dawn, showing Luffy all grown up with a crew.

(looks at pic) Well Silk now just seems more like a blond Vivi from her new design…and Crescent Moon Galley looks weirdly cartoonish, even moreso than Oda drew him. I still think, though, this is mostly going to be like a flashback/dream story that takes place after Luffy originally left home.

Sounds like it'll be an animated version of Oda's original Romance Dawn. It'll be shown in 10 Japanese cities during the Jump Super Anime Tour this fall.
I'm surprised this wasn't animated sooner, considering OP's popularity.

So we should be getting a lot of info soon. I believe the Jump tour thing's first date is September 21. Since Japan is about 13 hours ahead(I'm on the east coast) it should be nearly 2 AM of Sept.21. We might get more info late tonight or tomorrow.

That's the page for the One Piece special. It's got a super high quality version of the image we've already seen(Luffy, Silk, and the pirates in the air with the Sunny under them). The quality is so good that you can see the other SHs on the Sunny.

! -The total running time seems to be 35 minutes.
-It's more of a humorous story than action oriented.
-There are fights but it's mainly Goten and Trunks fighting the new villains.
-Apparently Goku does absolutely no fighting.
-Some Characters like Tien don't even appear.
! Also Table's identity is revealed as
! >! Vegeta's little brother. Small edit here, actually he's just way more passive compared to the average saiyan and decided to live a life of peace. Two bad guys show up on his planet and he tracks down his brother to help him get rid of them.

Welcome to Dragon Ball after the Cell Saga. It would have been nice if this special could have been good, but I'm not sure what to expect. It sounds kind of lame, but they might manage to pull something decent off. The One Piece special also just seems dull. I'd rather a new plot then an animated Romance Dawn version 1, Romance Dawn version 1 didn't seem to require an anime to make it come to life. And adding the other Straw Hats and Sunny in just seems like a gimmick, and a way of fitting it into the continuity. I think I've had enough of that idea from Movie 9.

Actually i was expecting this special to be more comedy oriented, that's a good sign. Otherwise it would be yet another DBZ formulaic movie with the same fight scenes.
Btw, seems like the OP special is only 33 minutes long. Still, DB and OP got the longest ones.

Hey, its new a Dragon Ball story. A show that finished over 20 years ago, we should be happy no matter what we get. I mean its better than nothing.
Besides, DB is not only, "protect the Earth from from the big, bad villain", its also the fun stuff, Goku being an idiot and annoying Vegeta for example
. So let enjoy it.
And it will be interesting to see the One Piece special, maybe they changed it a bit in order for it to fit the main One Piece story?
And yeah, DB and One Piece had the longest specials (around 30 min), Bleach got like 15 min:shocked:
And it looks like there's a chance some specials will come out on DVD.
