I have a question. Has there been any character that has had a Jolly Roger AKA skull and crossbones that was a side character before? I am almost sure that Vivi has one. I know that most captains have their Jolly Rogers.
Now I ask this because if there has not been one before then Perona has the rare case of already having her Jolly Roger because Nami wore a shirt while in Thriller Bark that was Perona's Jolly Roger. So I can't help but think that maybe that might be another strong point to make in favor of Perona joining.

And people still seem to forget her obligation towards her island. She's not the leader of a gang like Usopp or Franky, she's the Empress of an island nation, and Nyon repeatedly stressed the importance or her remaining a Shichibukai to protect the island, something that she obviously wouldn't be able to do sailing around the world, and if her title does get revoked, that's all the more reason for her to stay behind on her island.

People should realize if Perona or Boa join the crew, then they will have to be a lot weaker than what they've appeared and thus, be a consistency issue. Fact is, Perona and Boa's devil fruits ARE TOO POWERFUL.
Almost everyone has some form of ego as well as feelings of attraction, with Usopp and Luffy being few exceptions. Perona and Boa could very easily take out most enemies including Shichibukai, so while it'd be cool to have one, I honestly in terms of story CANNOT see it… and I hope they don't, cause things will be broken.

But aside from grossing most of the fandom out, I only thought her being Luffy's mom would have been interesting when he was completely disgusted with her. Too bad Oda had to go and wipe that out. Man, I liked Hancock a lot more when she was 100% antagonistic.

I don't think there is going to be a new crew member this arc mainly because the crew is spread out and mostly likely going to be getting some much needed spotlight ….and to the whole Hancock thing, I'm 92% sure she's just a temporary companion

I'd like to see Boa join up simply for the crew interactions like alot of other people have pointed out, but I get a sneaky suspicion that she'll get accidentally left behind or something else comedic once alls said and done in ID. Then again who knows, maybe she'll fall in love with Luffy's beefy brother? Its Oda!

Well, ok the chances seem pretty slim for both Perona and Boa
But you know, I think everyone can agree that the chance for a new nakama this arc is huge. Considering the expanse of it, and the fact that after this the SH will be crossing the redline and taking on forces that are not just quality but quantity.

I said it before and now with more motivation I'll say it again Silk should be in the OP as a nakama. After watching it a couple of times I'm sold on Silk for nakama. Here's the first part of that animated RD pilot so you can see her obvious SH potential.
Like I said I don't care if she has a sword ODa can change her fighting style to suit all.
Knowledgeable, can cook, can fight, clearly interested in Luffy (for all of you that care smh), sad past, has enough personality in that ep to separate her from other SHs(plus Oda can always improve it), and best of all Silk >>>>>>>>>>>> Hancock, Perona, and Ace combined.

I think its widely assumed that it's 10 nakama not counting Luffy making it an 11 person crew.

0% chance of joining to silkGuess you missed my previous posts of Oda simply tweaking her character to make her unique(from the ep in the link she's nothing like Nami, especially not a carbon copy. You must be confused with Anne. Silk was an early prototype of Nami). Oda took Silk tweaked her, then made Anne, then tweaked her more and made Nami. If he wanted he could take Silk and tweak her another way.
As for this rule you just made up I could care less, I want Oda to do it(not saying it will happen) but given the candidates talked about in the past pages Silk would be the best choice. Mind you Silk was in the pilot before Oda even had an opportunity for these animated specials so there's still a chance imo.
I'll find a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who's best friend's sister's ex's roommate is cousins with Oda and suggest Silk should be reinstalled in to the series as Silk 4.0(the improved version).

i'm laying down my prediction that oda has put in the boa hancock love thing for more than just taking luffy to impel down. i think she's going to have to sacrifice herself or her position as shichibukai in some way to protect luffy from danger.
its also a fairly cliche romantic trope in japanese storytelling that beautiful women have to wait in vain for the men they love to come back from war or a journey of personal growth. this trope has already been seen in the conversation between her and granny nyon before she decided to help luffy get to ID.
in both instances, i don't see hancock joining the SHs.
not to mention her stone power making future battles really… boring... -

I put can cook as a quality not something imperative as a nakama. I put the interested in Luffy crap in there because that's the only thing backing the Hancock for nakama nonsense. I put can fight as opposed to really strong since clearly not every SH are expert unbeatable fighters.
As for fighting technique it can be anything. Oda can even change the weapon to a chained sword with a morning star connected to it or a spear or chained blades or she can use a sword and some martial arts together, etc. There are over a million fighting techniques out there really.
Also I threw her name out there (again) keeping in mind that Oda would have to tweak a few things first anyway.

The reasons for which I want Hancock to join are:
1. Love for luffy (in a humorous way)
2. Power to stone pervy crewmates
3. Choppah soccer
4. Reputation and attitude (looking down)Most of my reasons are based on that they CAN become running gags. And It is sad that most fellow Hancock supporters do not bring Robin and Franky as examples. Whoever expected Robin to join? Whoever thought Franky was a shipwright? For all we know, they were hateworthy badguys when they were first introduced. Their skills came later. If people say Hancock lacks character development and ambition, aren't FOUR running gags in 10 chapters enough for you. How many does Margaret have??? Margaret was just a puppet character to advance the plot. Imagine luffy saving the boar or snake from hancock. Oda needed someone to befriend luffy for a while, make luffy fight to save her and earn hancock's trust, that's it.
As for ambition, it was ATLEAST a HUNDRED chapters after Robin was introduced that we got to know her dream. How long do you think Oda will take to come up with a good aim for Hancock?
About the people arguing that we want Hancock to join just for eye-candy, you're sadly mistaken. I'd be glad with Marge joining if she had the same personality traits as hancock. Actually, YOU'RE the ppl who want Margaret for eye candy. We've not seen Hancock fight yet and there are ppl who say she's overpowered. I was a huge Franky fan but i feel his style of fighting overlaps Choppers a little too much and thus Chopper is restricted in his growth. (Hopefully i weren't the only one that thought Chopper would take his boxing further).
I've yet to see Marguerite fight properly but if she can remain unique enough as not to simply be eating away at the styles of Franky and Usopp then i'm all for her to join.

Uuuh, I don't see how Marguerite could've possibly stowed away on the ship since we saw her waving farewell to it. Unless she has some secret super-speed powers that we don't know about. Nevertheless, I'm still really annoyed that Oda dropped all of those concepts on the island like a hot potato in favor of ''war lol''.
I wouldn't be surprised if Luffy does end up back on Amazon Lily after all of this as it is a sanctuary from the World Government, though it'll be really hard to get back there, unless Luffy and Ace steal back the Striker or something, which, being essentially a motorboat, says ''F you.'' to the Calm Belt's lack of wind and currents. Of course, Marinford is closer to Shabondy however, though going there would be practically suicide with all the top brass gathered there.

I don't think anyone was basking in any aura of cool. I just think everyone was surprised that Luffy's brother was well mannered and lacking in the numerous social flaws that Luffy possesses. Given what we've seen so far it's unlikely that Hancock will fall out of love with Luffy anytime soon. And what's with everyone being so quick to favor Ace over Luffy?! All Ace has is a bad case of narcolepsy and a losing record. Luffy on the other hand will beat the living hell out of anyone who upsets his friends. He the man. The two most beautiful women on the sea can't be wrong, can they?
