at least i can find this when it does get scanlated easily. if i'm not getting say "negima" when it comes out its hard to find them. Like if i forget for a couple months to download the chapters ther is like no site that has them hosted. it pisses me off. they either don't have it, or they are still back at like 279 or something.

GOOD chapter. I'm always amazed at the brilliant skills of Matsuena of retaining the power level difference whilst giving an entertaining fight.
Also my theory is officially wrong and this arc is going to take an interesting new direction. Can't wait for the shocking development that's supposed to happen this week. After everything was reset like that, I believe that something unexpected and game-changing is gonna occur.

Yeah, tight, revealing clothes, clothes being ripped off, many suggestive poses. Not much at all.
I agree with you though. Unlike many Shonen heroes, Kenichi grows stronger in a very believable way.

I …really don't care about the tits. So long as the art, story, fights, characterization, comedy etc. remain at the same good quality, I think the fan-service is irrelevant. It only bugs you if you let it bug you.
Credit to Matsuena though, despite how ginormius they've become, he still somehow managed to draw them in a way so that they don't feel disproportionate.

Sports? Nah. It has GREAT martial art style consistency but given the crazy fight moves and enemies and shonenesque plot etc. it's pretty much a fighting shonen.
And the big story is Kenichi's path (fall) to becoming a master as well as whatever Yami's cooking up.

Has it only been a year? Heh. Regardless, I think Kenichi's rise to his current strength and victories were all very believable and reasonable. It's shonen rules that the main character gets strong quick. What matters is the execution and I think in this series, it has been done fantastically.It's especially awesome because there was never hidden talent bullshit cop-out. It's been stated as a fact from the beginning that Kenichi was a worthless loser that had and still has zero talent and everything he's accomplished has been due to nothing but hard work. Imagine if Rock Lee was the main character of a manga!

Putting aside the "It's a manga or shonen rules" stuffs, He did win the D&D tournament (against the leader of Yomi) only having less than a year of martial arts. We can't really say it's believable. But that could be worse. And I enjoy the manga too, so no worries. ;)

As to DOD, I had no problems with Kenichi beating Shou for the simple reason that that fight was fucking brilliant and I mean that in all senses of the word including power level retention and being all around awesome. Don't forget that Kenichi gave everything he had and beyond to beat Shou. Shou was clearly equal to Miu in strength, someone who Kenichi strives to be as good as and better so there was even that obstacle to overcome in order to make the fight reasonable. But the fact that Kenichi was almost OTKed at the first hit, the fact that Shou was clearly outclassing him throughout the entire fight, the fact that Kenichi is a confirmed slow starter who's strength is drawn out the longer a fight takes, the power up that was carefully built up which activated mid-fight and due to no actions by Shou even, the fact that Kenichi went through hell just to land his first punch, the fact that Kenichi fought for a small time while unconscious!!!(which to be fair gave him a temporary boost in strength even) and the fact that Shou decided to take on Kenichi's strongest technique head on in the end which was super advanced (but was not a deus ex machina as it was being built up since the past arc)…
Nope, had no problems with Kenichi beating Shou but that's just me.
And as an aside, Kenichi still wasn't better than Miu after beating Shou because there's no way he could go to such lengths in a fight with her so there's that issue resolved.

Did he? When they were fighting straight up, they seemed pretty equal to me. But ah well, power levels don't really mean all that much in this series unless the gap is huge like Disciple vs. Master/Expert. There's a degree of circumstance which all good fighting series should have coughwhich Bleach doesn't have cough such as hitting someone in the right place. Look at how Kenichi was obliterated by Kokin because he's a slow starter. Hell Boris said it best.

Probably Miu. Renka's pretty strong herself though. She fought evenly with Racheal who's Yomi and has even beaten Experts with assistance. Kenichi can't beat either of them though.

ha yea no kidding. i swear the world of kenichi must be like 40 degrees at all times. otherwise why else would all the woman be nipping out 24/7. but barely any ecchi, thats a laugh. since day one we have had skin tight clothes that have basically been nothing more than paint on a naked body. all the girls fights are super suggestive, sneaking on girls in baths, hell the hwole basis beind the whole story is kenichi wants mui and is getting stronger to be with her, then impress her and now to protect her. girls don't take damage in this series, they only lose clothes. half the girls seem to fal in love with kenichi. and so on.
this whole manga is just one big ecchi training series.

Kenichi VS Shou is easily one of the best fights yet. I should really reread the arc. It's been a while and that was one of my favorites after Ragnarok.

At least this is interesting and doesn't just rely on the ecchi. That's the mistake many anime/manga that use a lot of ecchi make.

Quite the opposite, it offends me even more because the series is excellent on its own merits without any of that ecchi crap; it just detracts from an otherwise excellent series.
As to the 'it only bothers you if you let it' contention… I see where you're coming from but to a certain extent that's not REALLY true. If I could simply choose not to be distracted or bothered, I'd 1. Do a lot better in school and 2. Be Buddha. It IS true that letting it get to you is a choice we can make or not make, but the 'fanservice' is still distracting and since it's one of the few weak points in the whole series, I don't think carping on it here and there is at all unreasonable.
Also it's been escalating recently I think.

His demeanor is pretty different from the way it was at the outset of this series, and yet his guiding principles and basic personality are about the same. Pretty good writing, that.

this series is like 375 chapters long, and has been super ecchi the same since chapter 1. It was obvious from beginning and continious throughout the whoel series that there was going to be this ecchi level to the manga. It wasn't just sprung on later, or just starting. I guess maybe you can say recently in last 20 chapters or so we have started to see actual nipples (though barely), but we have had like perfect outlined nipples through clothing since day one, its not liek all of a sudden you can't show your kids or ministor this. i would not have felt right showing them before, and this new stuff isn't any more raunchy.
so i just don't see merit in bitching about something 375 chapters later when it has been aroudn since day 1. now if say one piece started to be as ecchi as this, or naruto did or whatever then that is merit to bitch. but not when nothing has changed.

I think it's getting worse and more distracting, and I think it detracts from the quality of the manga, and this is the thread for posting what you think about the manga and that's what I think about the manga and I posted it here, in this thread, where you post what you think about this particular manga.
