i keep hearing people say that blackbeard is the strongest. since his logia ability is unlike any other. the fact that he beat Ace and gave Shanks those 3 scars says something. But for me i think it could be D. dragon. wether he has a devil fruit or not he has taken over lots of islands
Who is the strongest in One Piece (currently)

When Whitebeard was first introduced, it said he was the strongest man in the world. The only thing that could have changed between that time and now would be Blackbeard, and since he had some trouble beating Ace, I doubt he could beat Whitebeard just yet.
-
Whitebeard was called the strongest man in the world.
This could be him personally or it could refer to his crew and the fact that he is "closest to One Piece"
Blackbeard was strong enough to scar Shanks (when he had 2 arms) and now he has a incredably powerful fruit.
Mihawk is still out there.
Then there's Aokiji, Sengoku, 2 other admirals not to mention Dragon. In my belief all these people are amongst the "strongest" but until the hold a tournament we're never gonna know
-
Whitebeard, unless stated otherwise. We can't work on much, because we've haven't seen all the strongest characters, and the ones we have seen haven't really been in a real battle yet except Blackbeard and Ace.
So, Whitebeard, for now.
-
It is unknown, but the way the plot is progressing, it will eventually be Blackbeard if it isn't already. Whitebeard is old, sick, and (probably) doesn't have a Devil Fruit. And we know what happens to people in anime when they get old and sick… Blackbeard is younger, healthy, and has the most useful Devil Fruit shown so far (I won't say strongest, that goes to Eneru and the Rumble Rumble Fruit).
-
NightMare Luffy was the strongest being in the One Piece world. But he's gone now.
-
Nah, that was Nightmare Moria, but he was too powerful to even use his power properly.
You know what Uncle Whateverhisname said all the time (In Spiderman's Emo Flashbacks)…
With great power comes a great Responsability...
-
Whitebeard was referred to in his intro as "The Strongest Man in the World". And since that came straight from Oda, that's a fact until it gets proven otherwise in the story.
@Kaimei-Karasuhebi:
You know what Uncle Whateverhisname said all the time (In Spiderman's Emo Flashbacks)…
His name is Ben and it is spelled "Spider-Man". There's a hyphen.

No….not this thread AGAIN ><
-
Sengoku's goat or Spandam's shoes. It's a tough call.
-
@Kitsune::
No….not this thread AGAIN ><
Isn't it expected for a thread such as this to be repeated over the course of a storyline or manga series?
On topic, I would say it would be possibly be Whitebeard or one of the Four Emperors of the New World because when he and Shanks clashed, they split the sky open. Granted we don't have any evidence that if someone from the Shikibukai clashed with an Emperor, the phenomenom wouldn't happen. Or four that matter, one of the Admirals. However, considering the difference in numbers between the World Government, the Shikibukai, and the Emperors, I still say one of the Emperors.

But…..it was just...like....a month ago that we all decided that this thread=teh fail ><

I wish people would shut up and just assume that when Oda describes Whitebeard STRONGEST MAN ALIVE he means that Whitebeard's the STRONGEST MAN ALIVE
STRONGEST MAN ALIVE
STRONGEST
-
The major people that I would consider are Whitebeard, Shanks, Kaidou and the other emp.. Possibly dragon since he is the biggest threat.
I think that most of the strongest people are non-DF users.

What the hell is the Rumble Rumble fruit?
-
Whitebeard is the strongest.
Strongest shown in action is Blackbeard. -

Oops…I must have missed it. Sorry about that. Certainly explains your first post.
-
@Kitsune::
Eneru's lightning logia.
Uhhh….Enel ate the Goro Goro fruit. Is that Funimation's translation or something? It sounds dumb...
-
I'd say the bald Gorosei. Obviusly, He wields either Shodai or Nidai Kitetsu and we know those are one the strongest sword in the world
-
Oops…I must have missed it. Sorry about that. Certainly explains your first post.
Huh? What do you mean? ><
-
I think the Yonkou are all tied. So they are the strongest currently.
-
Whitebeard was referred to in his intro as "The Strongest Man in the World". And since that came straight from Oda, that's a fact until it gets proven otherwise in the story.
His name is Ben and it is spelled "Spider-Man". There's a hyphen.
Well, sorry, but it's been AGES since I saw the Spider**-**dude movies or the 90's animated series (even tough I've seen commercials for the re-runs).
-
I think the Yonkou are all tied. So they are the strongest currently.
then you are wrong.
The Yonkou have been (in my mind) shown to be weaker than they were originally hailed to be.
Mihawk > Shanks
BB > Ace
Moria only slightly less than Kaidou (if not equal)seriously? it's the crews that set the Yonkou apart from the rest of the SBKs and the world gov. And in numbers and power (at least, named characters) it seems that WB's is greater than Shanks at this moment.
-
Uhhh….Enel ate the Goro Goro fruit. Is that Funimation's translation or something? It sounds dumb...
That's the actual translation.
Goro is the Japanese sound effect for Thunder. In other words, Rumble Rumble is pretty much a literal translation of it.
If you think it sounds dumb, you must also think 'Goro Goro' sounds dumb, since they're essentially the exact same thing.
-
The Strongest Man Alive is Whitebeard end of story, but now just who is the strongest woman alive in the OP universe?
-
The Yonkou have been (in my mind) shown to be weaker than they were originally hailed to be.
Mihawk > Shanks
BB > Ace
Moria only slightly less than Kaidou (if not equal)mmmhhh. Mihawk is kinda equal to Shanks. definetly not stronger. By that logic Blackbeard should have been stronger than Shanks when he was able to give him his scar. He wasn´t. The last evidence on this case comes from Mihawk himself, remember:"Getting Pirate King will be even harder to accomplish than being the best swordsman."
BB is stronger than Ace. But then again, Ace is Whitebeard´s commander of second disvision, what means ( in terms of hierarchy ) that he´s got the commander of the first division, the first mate and Whitebeard himself before him - strengthwise. don´t think you can draw conclusions from a fight ( 3th or 4th of any crew ) - ( Captain of his own crew ). For example, is eneru that strong just because he beat every Strawhat in a matter of seconds? sure he is strong, but the real "worth" can just be estimated by a fight between the two captains.
Moria is not sronger than Kaidou. Why I can say that with such certainty?
It´s simple: I know how Moria´s Devilfruit works. I know what sneaky Bastard he is. and I´m sure that he went all out in his 1on1 against Kaidou, and even that wasn´t enough. Let´s think Moria used all of his Devilfruit´s specialities like Doppelman and still wasn´t able to beat Kaidou…doesn´t sound like a patt situation strength-wise in my book. The last comment on this whole thing: I guess the Yonkou´s aren´t that far away of the Shichibukai, BUT the Shichibukai are lonesome fighters, which means just one man has to be strong. The Yonkous on the other hand need a very tough crew and actually "do" pirate business.
So while some Shichibukais may be en par with the fighting abilities a Yonkou possesses, the key difference is the fighting force that the crew displays.on their own Shichibukais may be able to take one of a Yonkou ( take, not win! ), but with his crew fighting with him, it get´s much much harder. after all the world is divided into three powers, so one power = 7 Shichibukai and one power = 4 Yonkous WITH their crewmates.
And based on the fact they´re supposed to be in balance, i´d say the Yonkous have an edge. -
That's the actual translation.

Did Luffy eat the "Rubber Rubber" fruit?
Oh well, it doesn't really matter.
-

i don't think he have that much trouble beating Ace :getlost:
-
@kuma:
i don't think he have that much trouble beating Ace :getlost:
I was thinking about that after I posted it and I think you're right. There really wasn't any evidence that Blackbeard was forced to go to the limits of his power to beat Ace.
-
Whitebeard is only the strongest in paper.
BB is the most powerful entity in OPverse.
-
mmmhhh. Mihawk is kinda equal to Shanks. definetly not stronger.
Yes. Yes he is. They used to be sparring partners, then Shanks lost his arm so Mihawk didn't see the point in sparing with him. It says it in the manga.
Let´s think Moria used all of his Devilfruit´s specialities like Doppelman and still wasn´t able to beat Kaidou…doesn´t sound like a patt situation strength-wise in my book.I don't have much proof to back this up, but I think that Moria lost due to his crew being killed all around him. He was equal to Kaidou but his crew members weren't so they died, then Moria has to flee.
It fits in his character and it fits in past worries of Luffy as well. The last comment on this whole thing: I guess the Yonkou´s aren´t that far away of the Shichibukai, BUT the Shichibukai are lonesome fighters, which means just one man has to be strong. The Yonkous on the other hand need a very tough crew and actually "do" pirate business.

And based on the fact they´re supposed to be in balance, i´d say the Yonkous have an edge.I totally agree with this. Although we have to realize that some SBKs DO have crews (BB for instance) just not as much…
-
my thoughts on Mihawk and Shanks, don´t have that much time right now:
It´s right Mihawk abandoned Shanks as his sparring partner, but the way I understood it they trained swordfighting. Which puts two-armed Shanks right on position number 2 of the "world´s best swordsmen" - list.
And it´s only understandable that Mihawk wouldn´t want to do sparring with him anymore because ( in the way of the sword ) there was only so much Shanks, who I´m not sure to be a "sword-only"-fighter, could teach him.
Look at it like this: If Zorro and Luffy fought, I´d be sure Zorro would win although he is not as strong as Luffy in the terms we are discussing right now.
He would win because he only needed one swing and Luffy would be down, while Luffy would have to hit him several times. Nonetheless Luffy is able to beat enemies Zorro would not be able to beat. And i guess this thread means "strong" as in "who can beat MOST enemies" at the moment. So while I believe Zorro is technically stronger than Luffy in a fight 1on1 ( stronger because he can beat him ) Zorro at the same time isn´t as strong as Luffy ( because he can´t beat as much big villains as Luffy can )But exactly as Luffy Shanks has more to him than his fighting style against enemies with swords, his Aura and the splitting of the sky should be enough to mention. So you can´t estimate the power of a non-sword-fighter by letting him fight a sword-fighter, that would be like estimating the power of a sword-fighter by letting him fight a Logia.

fair enough. I like lots of these ideas
BUT
Mihawk and Shanks are both sword users. As to the "aura" thing, I'm pretty sure Mihawk's got something similarSo Mihawk > Shanks in personal strength
Which is relevant to this conversation
btw: I LOVE your name

Just stop right there. Don't tread this realm again. You're just going to start a spam war.
I'll just say this: Shanks lost an arm and wasn't affected. How do you think Mihawk would fare after losing an arm?
In any case, Whitebeard is the strongest, until his title is revoked or he is outclassed, which I don't see happening until the very end of One Piece.
-
Not this shit again…
-
Blackbeard woo~ >o>
-
Despite his devil fruit, Ace was still able to slap Blackbeard around a bit.
-
fair enough, back on topic.
The strongest men are Whitebeard, Sengoku, Blackbeard and Dragon. Between those three, there doesn´t seem to be any evidence as to who is the strongest atm.
But for the sake of the thread I´m gonna pick Blackbeard, not because I really know it, but because I guess he´s the final enemy ( you know, the one made out of pure evil who stands for everything we don´t stand for ) and so he and Luffy have to be the strongest two, at least at some point of the story.
To skarlath, thanks for sharing some love, always appreciated, now I have to get my hands on one of those avatar thingies I keep hearing the youth talking about. Hope it won´t cost too much.

This is the goofiest argument ever.
YOU THINK BANANA SOUNDS DUMB SO YOU MUST THINK BANANA IN SPANISH SOUNDS DUMB TOO
-
Whitebeard is labeled by ODA himself aka 'The Author' as the 'World's Strongest Man' so the answer is obvious….
Its clearly Sogeking.

Yes. Yes he did eat the Rubber Rubber Fruit.

It was originally a 4Kids translation.
-
Yes. Yes he did eat the Rubber Rubber Fruit.
Okay, have fun with your Rumble Rumbles and Rubber Rubbers and Pieces Pieces and Human Humans and Elephant Elephants. I'm sticking to the Japanese versions.
-
No, gomu gomu was the onomatapia for the SOUND that rubber maks.
Just as goro goro is the sound of thunder. -
And Supa Supa
alot are onomatopoeias. They just sound better in Japanese, because let's face it, what doesn't?
-
And Supa Supa

Well, what I dislike is the people who go around thinking how awesome something is in Japanese, and then bashing an English translation that is pretty much dead on to the original.
And speaking as a long time student of the Japanese language, I can think of plenty that doesn't sound better in Japanese.
-
"Bara" refers to the sound a knife or other sharp object makes when it hits a cutting board, while "Barabara" means to disconnect.
"Baku" is the sound of sheet metal being struck, while "Paku" is the sound of eating. It could also come from the phrase "baku baku tabeteru", which can be likened to "chowing down" in English.
"Supasupa" is the noise a knife makes when cutting through something.
"Moku" is the sound billowing smoke makes.
"Meramera" is the noise a fire makes when it burns.
"Gorogoro" is the noise thunder makes. -
Isn't it expected for a thread such as this to be repeated over the course of a storyline or manga series?
No not when
A they stated the strongest man alive
B the strongest man alive is still aliveif he died due to his illness this this would be a purpose to this thread and the countless other ones however how it stands now its just collective garbage that takes up bandwidth
-
Whitebeard.
duh.
