I imagine the coaches are going to be Oujou's and Deimon's, one covering the defense and the other for offense. I guess that doesn't really give room for one outside of their region though.

If this manga is moving to more realistic football then I'd have the ultimate defense (Oujou) and the ultimate offense (Deimon or Seibu) and have them cover their respective teams.

And Chuubou or whatever the little new guy is most be something. I mean he was put in the offensive line without question
Yeah im kinda curious about that to, Especialy since hes such a small guy. What secret weapon could be possibly have that could let him duke it out with people like Banba or Kurita. I mean if Komusubis strength didnt cut it what can be bring?
Clifford seems like a nice enough guy, Most of his attitude is just an act to freak his opponents out, So he is pretty much a nicer Hiruma.
Man cant we get some spoilers, im dying to see which other teams are coming.

You know the more I think about it, the more I believe that Juumonji is still going to make the team. My only complaint now is this "bench". It's what, Hiruma for QB and I guess any reciver for Cornerback? Oh and I guess Musashi/Koutaru for kicker. So if a lineman goes down there doesn't appear to be anyone to replace them.
And can I get some Marco love?
Back to my point, it was clear from the All Star training before Teikoku that Juumonji was supposed to be a major player, but the clusterfuck that was Teikoku removed that. I still believe Juumonji is going to play a major part since he's such a pivitol part of the story. He makes most spreads (his number was featured on the last spread), and he's constantly ranked as one of the most popular characters. I know there's this Agon thing, but I'm beginning to think that Juumonji really will get back on the team for good. He'll prove himself. I mean hell the guy completed the Death March… what else does he have to prove?
Also I like Clifford. Maybe we'll finally get a real quarterback instead some cop out "perfect spin" crap. Also I hope these teams start getting really fleshed out. Like I don't just want Panther, Clifford, and like three other characters on the USA team to be important. Since everyone on the Japanese team is important, the USA should be as well.

Somehow I sort of imagine "Militia" as a US military team…don't ask me why.
Read the chapter: somehow Gaoh forcing them to take on the Russians first was hilarious...and somehow, barring a Kyoshin/Hakushuu wild-card we don't know about, it seems set up that Japan's path will be:
Russia -> Finland -> Germany -> U.S.
Though I also got a chuckle of team US being sent to a strip club during the selection ceremony.

Finland has Nokia. Just make the players all obsessive technophiles and would have been better.
Currently I have a hard time imagining any dark-horses in the tournament…the American side is obviously going to end with them going to the finals (unless there's something we don't know...the Indian player seems to get quite a bit of show and most likely will take on the Americans next if they beat Australia) and Germany's starting to get similar hype for being "the best country in NFL Europe" (though it's now defunct...and considering that outside them the only other team left was in Amsterdam when it folded). As for Finland/Militaria...somehow I have a hard time taking either team seriously enough to make either the quarterfinalist for Japan.

I guess Yuki's last hoorah was that three page touchdown he made with no build up. Shame, he was like one of my three favorite characters behind Juumonji and Monta. S'well.
So the Russians are up first. And someone is stronger than Gaou? This should be interesting. Hope we get a lot more characters appearing soon.

I have some newfound respect for the author for the first time in a while, thanks to the Finnish guy. I haven't laughed this hard at a manga, well, ever. Seems sort of weird to me that team Finland would be one of the contestants, I didn't even know there was a football league in the country.
Aside from that, the chapter was still really good. I'm actually really looking forward to the games starting this time around.

Really? Militaria? Why not just called them Jobbervania? They've introduced Hakkinen like they would a major player, so I doubt they'd toss Finland out.Mexico vs. Sweden

I suppose now would be a good time to hop in :) I just finished reading from the beginning of the series to the current chapter and I absolutely love this series. I've never been a fan of football to be honest but the humor, drama, and action make this a really fun read. The stereotypes are always hilarious and I'm glad to see he keeps coming up with random funny stuff like the tooth care.
One question though that no one seems to have mentioned. Look at the silhouette on the last page. Perhaps that is Hiruma's father? Look at the ears carefully. It might very well be that he is on the American team.
Oh and a side thought. I wonder what Agon was doing with Komusubi and the Hahas a few chapters back. I must admit Komusubi was one of my favorite characters and I was disappointed to see he didn't make the cut.

I'm thinking the guy at the end of the chapter is the "evil" character that Sena has to run against. Since Clifford was on offense and I assume Panther is a running back, I'm going to guess this is the antagonist Sena must surpass.

No, Panther is pretty much set as Sena's "opponent".
This character might be the top receiver on the team. After all, we have opponents for Sena (Panther) and Hiruma (Clifford), but not for Monta.

I just hope Sena and Monta don't go pro or something after this, because Panther and Clifford don't strike me as final opponents.

I'll be angry if the America team doesn't have a set team for defense. It seems stupid if the Japanese team does with America having so many more players. I think Sena V Panther would be cool, but Shin V Panther rematch would be a tad more interesting.

I would love for Agon to try to hurt Hiruma and have kurita just go ballistic and beat the shit out of him, because even though I like Agon I think he'd needs to have more respect for Kurita.

So spoilers are out, Agon steals the main teams uniforms so that only him, that middle school guy and the players he brought can play. And his reason for doing that was simply for him to have a sucky team that can be crushed and get to swoop in and save the day thus making him the star. And Sena recognizes the mummy guys voice, so theres hope for Habashira

This week's chapter was strange…I didn't expect Agon to literally create a "B-team" for him to star on...but it is Agon so...at least Chubo is getting a bit to shine so far. (BTW: I still think the mummy is Usui myself but Rui would be cool)

I got my Juumonji scene. I'm pleased. Ahh…
I love the idea of seeing the Japanese B-Team playing against Russia since it's honestly pretty cool. I still don't get how Takami Quarterbacks over Karin. I guess everyone realized she was a waste. However I'm hoping that this isn't a one and out for these guys. I hope to see substitutions and all that jazz. Plus Onihei doing something FTW.
I'm warming up to Chuubou. Slowly, but surely. I'm pumped for next week now.

Its funny how no one questioned Mummy Man over how he knew the uniforms were.
It could be proof of him being Unsui, not backstabbing his brother.
Still, I would like to see him being Rui. (Ishimaru and Yukimitsu got debunked in the 1st page)
Btw, didn't anyone notice that Unsui was the only on there who isn't in the main team? (Mummy Man???)
Ps. Didn't knew that Yamatos hair was black (thought that it was just the shading from the previous color pages), he also looks a bit like Akira from Devilman :P -
I think the mummy man's Usui. But I wouldn't be surprised or heartbroken if it was Rui or someone from Teikouku.
My question is… who exactly is on that reserves team? I know Takami's at QB, the offensive line is Kumosubi, Onihei, and the Ha-Ha bros., and that the weakling from Hakushuu is at wide receiver, but I dunno about the other teammates. Does anyone have any clue?

My only real problem is that some of these characters on the B-team should have been reserves in case anyone on the A-team had any problems or got hurt…but if they honestly crush Russia without one A-player playing, that pretty much seals that no one will be a threat to the Japanese side except the Americans. (though Germany could have one or two problems...)

Actually I think you might have confused Kisaragi with Karin. I didn't see Karin in the chapter at all.

You're right. I think that is the Hakushuu Receiver. Kisaragi or whatever. And forgive my Karin hating. I still just despise her build up amounting to a spin that Hiruma and Kid should easily be able to imitate.
Also I think that boob guy from the Sado Strong Golems is there. I think he's the guy that scores the other touchdown before Taki.
Wow 14-0. It's been a while since Deimon has ever held a lead like that. Me thinks unless Russia pulls out some aces this match will be a gimmie. Rodchenko can't possibly hold this entire team up.

I doubt Agon would pick someone from Teikoku since the Alexanders are all-stars in a way and someone from Teikoku could outshine him. I was also surprised that they started the match already and I guess the B-team can be considered as sub players.

My guess is Militaria in the second round and then Germany in the third. Germany's going to be a rough match, and of course the USA is going to be way better than anyone else. I'm still not sure that Japan should beat Team USA.

Suzuna must have put it together while Sena and Monta were off recruiting. Otohime and Urashima, I saw coming, along with at least one of Seibu's girls, very nice.

Im dying to find out what Chuubous hidden power is. I mean is he a cannonball ramming into people really fast, Or some kind of extreme version of Komusubi, Or some kind of natural at technique who can block like Akaba? or some mix of all of the above? What could he possibly have up his sleeve to take down the world strongest.
And its sealed that the mummy man is Unsui, Habashira would never just stand by and let Agon fuck everyone over. So yeah seems were stuck with dull ol Shinryuji Ishimaru :ermm: But hey atleast Onihei is doing something worthwhile^^

Recently started this series. it's pretty enjoyable. My favorite characters so far are Kurita and Hiruma. The top panel here had me laughing for a good few minutes
