This is a chinese-english translation and is as good as Jojohot's scan can be read or seen (watermark issue). Since several mistakes were made in past translations we will start posting translations here to get peoples opinions before using. Also note that this is michiyohayashi's first time translating OP - so fit the names appropriately (eg Angry Face Guy is zoro, snotty long nose is Ussop. Girl is nami or Robin, etc)

Without a japanese Raw I can't really compare, so I think this must be ok. It fitswith the spoiler. But I think the Attack Zoro used at least was Tou Rou Nagashi. I read the Kanji for Blade (刀; Tou), Wolf (狼; Rou) and sink (jap.:流し; Nagashi). So it must be Tou Rou Nagashi instead of Tatsu Maki.

That's the first problem. If you guys are gonna release scanlations, DO NOT go with that method. Many things get lost when translating from Japanese to Chinese to English. Many grammatical errors come up. It's basically falling into the category of being no better than a Hong Kong bootleg fansub.

I know you guys wanna do things quickly, but PLEASE don't use that method for your translations.

Also, it kinda helps to have someone who's been following the series do the translating, as someone who's not in the know-how may not know the traits of certain characters, be it their personality or the way they speak. Because of that, you end up with some differences during the translating process.

Like that for example. The name "Sogeking" gets lost in translation.

Unfortunately it is not about quick it is about time available. Take a look at the site. FH has released over 10 different chapters since the christmas Holidays began. When the year ends and a new one begins almost everyone needs to go back to school. when this happens we do our best. This is why we always make the option of doing a version 2 and tell people to come later. And this is also why we do HQ releases of the same chapters later.

Everybody starts somewhere. You can not always have somebody with a know-how available, can we? i am sure you know this. As time goes on, this new translator will get the know how as everybody also helps out in the way they can. We'll do our best.

That…really doesn't touch up on much of the point I was making, though. :wassat:

It's ultimately best to go with a Japanese to English translation. Otherwise you end up giving yourself more work for a later release. That and when people see the first one and can barely get by with what's been translated from a Chinese translation of a Japanese comic, they end up being put off by it and turn somewhere else.

Rather than giving yourselves headaches of doing a second edition or an alternative, more accurate translation, it just makes more sense to make a translation from the original source and be done with it.

As someone that can read Chinese I just want to say that the JoJo hot translations are fine. In fact my friend who understands Japanese, Chinese and English often reports the Chinese translations better.

Obviously though when you translate from one language to another it will never be as accurate, and this is even worse when you repeat this process again.

Eh, given my lack of knowledge of both Chinese and Japanese, I'm probably not the most qualified person to comment, but I have a few things to say, since you asked for feedback.

First, you'll obviously want to make sure your new translator is brought up to speed on the various names and nicknames, and how they've previously been translated. Though I do kind of find him/her referring to Lola as "Fat blob" amusing.

Second, there are a few differences between this translation and another one posted in the discussion thread, some of which seem fairly significant. I don't know which is the best, but I do find a certain part of your translation a bit confusing.

Maybe it's just me, but I have trouble following what is being said there, and it doesn't seem to quite fit what's being said around it.

One other thing: did they really wonder if "Meatball" was on his palms?
