    • RE: Predicting Oda - The yet unseen 4th type of Devil Fruits.

      @climhazard:

      No, just no.

      YES this is a Shonen manga, but Oda is by no means your standard mangaka.
      He has stated that Blackbeard has the most powerful devil fruit therefore that is the LAW

      Actually, I don't think that was ever stated, at least not in the manga. It was stated that it was unique even among Logias. There was also something about it having the "true power of the devil" or being "the most evil," but that's not the same thing.

      Unless you are refering to something in an SBS question that I don't know about.

      @Groene:

      Did Moria already had his devil fruit when he was an equal to Kaidou?

      It was never stated, but I assume so. Every aspect of Moria's fighting style revolved around it on some level, so it's hard to imagine him without it.

    • RE: Shichibukai Discussion Thread

      @Zik:

      Only in regards to ppl lusting for her, she hasn't been seen to be hedonistic….........yet!

      She's way more prideful of her beauty, or even greedy when it comes to wanting to be shichi even though she doesn't want to fight in the war.

      The shichi and 7 deadly sins became a little irrelevant ever since Croc lost position and BB came in seeing as it's not like the deadly sins those two might rep are the same....

      Ah, but I once read a version of that theory that said that the original Shichi each represented a single sin, while BB represented all 7 at once. Or one could say that BB just doesn't fit the theme at all, like how he doesn't fit the animal name theme of the original 7.

      Based on what we know of the Shichi now, here's how I'd match the sins.

      Moria: Sloth. Definitely fits, and has an interesting twist if what I read on another forum is true. Someone said that sloth is actually considered a sin of despair, which would fit with Moria's trauma of losing his entire crew in the New World.

      Donflamingo: Greed. He seems pretty greedy, so I guess that fits.

      Mihawk: Pride. His attitude seems pretty prideful to me. We don't know a huge amount about him, though. If I'm wrong about Hancock, I could potentially see Mihawk being lust, considering his vampire-like theme and the associations of vampies with lust, but there's really not a huge amount to go on.

      Kuma: Wrath. This would be based entirely on his past, of course, because his current personality doesn't seem to fit with any of the sins.

      Hancock: Lust. I know Hancock herself doesn't seem to fit this too well, though she is rather infatuated with Luffy. 😁 But if you think about it, even if Oda went with a seven deadly sins theme, there's no reason he'd have be universal in the way he applies it to each member. He could simply say that for one of the Shichibukai, the sin will be the way people behave around her, not the way she herself behaves. In which case, Hancock definitely fits.

      Alternately, she could be pride.

      Jimbei: Gluttony. Simply because I'm not sure what else to give him, and he is a big fellow.

      Croc: Envy. Some of his actions and motivations could be considered of a covetious nature.

    • RE: Shichibukai strength

      I think that both Moria and Croc are underestimated by a lot of people.

      I think a lot of people underestimate Croc because in the third fight, he got annoyed, said he'd fight Luffy "as a pirate," and stopped using his powers, until near the very end. It wasn't that he was limited in his moves because of the tomb, he purposely decided not to use them. At least that was the impression I got. Maybe I'm wrong.

      But assuming I'm remembering things correctly, it means something interesting. It means Croc never lost a single fight in the entire manga when he was going all out the whole time. That kind of makes it tough to really gauge his powers, doesn't it?

      Now, I know that Luffy had nullified Croc's defensive ability anyways to an extent, but how much of a difference would there have been had Croc used offensive abilities of his fruit the whole time? Think of the Ace/BB fight. Now, I know Ace lost anyways, but imagine how badly he would have done if, after seeing BB hit him, he had simply said "Well, since you can hit me, I think I just won't use my fruit at all. Have fun with your fruit though, use it all you want."

      As for Moria, his shadow power let him create an army of Zombies. Which means, in a sense, every single zombie in Thriller Bark, including ones like Samurai Ryuuma, were a part of Moria's power. Yah, Moria had Hogback's help with the Zombies, but I don't think that should count against him too much. Think of the corpses Moria used as tools made for him by Hogback, similiar to the way Nami uses the Clima-Tact made by Ussop, or the way Zoro uses swords made by (insert whatever famous swordsmiths made them.)

      Thus, I think it's perfectly fair to consider all the Zombies simply part of Moria, so if you want to pit Moria in a one-on-one fight against another Shichi, you'd have to give Moria his entire Zombie army to be fair. And that suddenly changes things, doesn't it? Even if you ignore Odz and simply give Moria the Zombies he had available at the start of the Thriller Bark arc, it's still a very powerful army. The weak ones are just fodder, but the General Zombies are quite potent, and all of them together with Moria himself would be tough to fight.

      And the interesting thing is, every time Moria defeats a strong opponent and steals their shadow, Moria increases in strength. Right now, he's pretty weak though, since he lost his whole army.

      @roamingwyoming:

      I was ghetto and somehow managed to miss this entire incident. Someone wanna be kind enough to… enlighten me as to what/how/where it happened?

      Kind of off topic, but then again this thread seldom has anything to do with Naruto anyways:

      @CosmicDebris:

      Carter banned for 2 months for being so low as to bring a deceased mother into his insults. AWB banned from this thread for dragging the whole thing out too long.

      @Geg:

      so the creator is incorrect or mistaken about something in the fictional story he is writing

      okay

      Retcons aren't unheard of, though. I'm not certain when the databook in question was written, but perhaps Kishi has changed his mind. Though I haven't seen anything to indicate that thus far.

      @Kurapika:

      Great so if I'm right I'm stupid cuz Kishi's stupid and if I'm wrong I'm stupid for believeing in a wrong theory… i so love how the world works :getlost:

      I wasn't saying that myself, I was just reminded of a sig I saw on another forum.

      It basically said something like "If it turns out that the 4th Hokage is Naruto's father like you predicted, it's not because you're special, it's because Kishi is as stupid as you are."

      And it is a trend I've noticed at times. Sometimes the same posters who make countless threads and posts utterly mocking Kishi for his "stupid and ridiculous plot choices and chapters" will then mock theories for being "stupid and ridiculous." Which I find ironic, considering the fact that if Kishi really is so absurd in his choices, than that would mean those theories would just have a higher chance of coming true.

      @Kurapika:

      sorry but who/whats ffa?

      ya didnt expect many to agree but i was curious about opionions is all. maybe there not the same but i can still think it untill its either proven or disproven. there are many other theories out there in mangas that are a lot weirder

      I've heard your theory before in other places, actually, though I'm not sure if it's been talked about much in this thread. Knowing Kishimoto, it might just turn out to be true.

      Of course, anyone who brings up that theory in the meantime will be horribly mocked by most, and if it turns out to be true in the end, they'll just be told "You only got it right cause you're as stupid as Kishimoto" if they try to say "I told you so."

      EDIT: By the way, ffa is Fire First Ace, a poster here who is routinely mocked. (Though not as much as LPS, or Lobster Pot Sticker)

      Hmm… so is there anyone here who doesn't despise the Naruto manga with all their hearts? Aside from me that is.
