You know what? I don't even care, I got to see JM's Jyabura, so I can now die happy xD WOW.. what a freakin' AMAZING Jyabura T__T I commend her, and cannot WAIT to see more photos from Fanime xD I do think that the group was very nice though, I don't think it matter what the Kaku was wearing Jeans or anything like that, they looked awesome, and they cosplayed as awesome characters. I'm not gonna say that that Kaku looked better than PirateNeko, cause it doesn't matter. I'm not wear NEAR skinny enough to be cosplaying Spandam, but I did anyways and I totally don't claim to be the best, I'm just happy to see others cosplaying characters they like, so I think this group did a great job ;3

Maybe they decided to wear jeans cause they were running low on cash? xD Who knows, all I know is that they cosplayed One Piece, and they looked really nice ^^ I don't by any means think they're the best Kaku ever, but they're certainly NOT the worst I've ever seen x_x

Yeah, like I said, I thought their Kaku was awesome! I think what impressed me the most is the color of her hair and the way she did the sideburns _ Sucks she wore jeans, but yeah…But seriously. They are an awesome group, I can never get enough of CP9 groups even if the arc is over, lol!

Honestly, I think the jeans comment is just trying to grasp for something wrong with the costume. She was amazing, and you couldn't even tell that they were jeans in person. In fact, a few of us are looking at the pics right now, and had to go look back at them to see if she really was wearing jeans. The Kaku on this forum works really hard on her costume too, but you don't need to nitpick another cosplayer to make her seem better. They can both be good.
Also, you guys are such flatterers. (man blush) XD I'm so glad you liked my Jyabura!!! I'm sad that I totally left my tie on the bed, but it covered up my sexy fake muscles anyway.

Totally agree with you JM!!! I'm pretty sure I've had to wear mismatching things before x_x;; I mean.. I KNOW I have XD LOL Mine was really obvious and I didn't care, I was having a BLAST O_O!!! I'm soo glad I got to see pics of you all since there's no way I could go, I am impatiently waiting on pics of the Thriller Bark group!!! Ohhhhh xD I've seen bits and pieces of the Perona in your group, and I can't WAIT to see the rest of them!! Especially your Ab's costume…been dieing to see it all finished and put together for months xD

The Kidd's coat is looking pretty good. The one drawback for me is the goggles.
As for Law's color… It's kind of a mustard? I dunno if it's just the lighting, but the latter Law coat has better colors fabric-wise.

it really depends on how much time you want to spend time on your sword. Mine is made of a combination of Balsa wood and basic 4x4. There other methods, but woods the easiest to manipulate in terms of tools easiest to use if you don't have a metal workshop. And most cons don't allow metal swords anyway. And the haramaki is based on your own personal taste. But for it to look good you kinda have to have a stuffing effect so that the haramaki looks kinda bulky and give it a 3-D effect.

There's a wooden katana tutorial on deviantART. It was mainly used for the swords in Bleach, but the template can be easily modified for Zoro's katanas. Thing is, you'll need to plunk down extra cash for all the tools you need to make it (like a planer). This method can be expensive, but it develops a lot of hand skills and is quite durable and best suited for cosplaying.

Using spray paint is fine. Just make sure to get some sand paper too, just in case you mess up the paint job.

hmmm, for the haramaki, i'd say use a rib knit fabric like this:

i saw a Soccor Special Zoro use it and he's prolly one of the best i've ever seen. it also might be easier to get the lines on the haramaki right with that type of fabric
now, to get a bit back on topic, OMG the Sanji that lobster posted back on page 8 (yep, that long ago) is what i ASPIRE to be! haha, other than the shirt being a little to dark, it = perfect

Hmm, I should totally think about remaking my haramaki someday, or darken the one I have because the color is too light. Mine was made out of a ribbed tanktop from some shop at the Plaza across from the hotel that A-kon was at. I just cut off the collar and folded it in on itself. Since then I've hemmed it down to fit me better since I've lost weight since then ^^

As for my swords, they are wooden bokken I got from E Bay, without hilt guards since I wanted to make my own. I used circular pieces of wood that I bought from Hobby Lobby, and cut them to the desired shapes (with help from my step dad). For the wrapping on the hilts I used bias tape, which someday I'd like to fix and make more accurate since I ran out of time on mine. And I spray painted all of the swords, used a gold pen for the details on Yubashiri and Shuusui. BTW I had originally made Shuusui purple for some stupid reason, but I am going to repaint it black because I think it would look better.some progress pics

Found this ad for the cosplay magazine COSMODE. from what i've been told, everyone who appears in the magazine is a legit cosplayer, not a model. And in some of the specials, they include American cosplayers. i would've tried sending in a pic of one of my costumes, but you have to be 18+ :(
