lol i swear i was about to ask that.
Bleach Discussion Part 2

-
i dont know anyones names in this manga besides the main 4 chars + main captains
-
facepalm Yes, that's Hisagi.
-
Thanks person who loves to face palm themselfs. You should do it harder next time.
-
It's character exposition with humor thrown in. What Kubo does best.
So yeah, these chapters are a big improvement over Hueco Mundo. The fights (so far) are short and sweet and we're getting seriously entertained. Can't ask for much more in a shonen manga.
We're still in the Hueco Mundo arc.
-
We're still in the Hueco Mundo arc.
Kubo confirmed Hueco Mundo ended prior to "Turn Back the Pendulum", this arc really has no name so far but its pretty much the Winter War.
-
You got that confirmation?
-

Me neither Im bad with names and attacks. Only series im good with is one piece and Naruto. But Bleach is my worst.
-
I honestly don't think this is the "winter war", whatever this arc is called I have no idea. How bout we call it the king's key arc since that's what aizen was going to do before yamamoto and his group of captains/vice captains came into the fray.
-
I honestly think this could be the final arc, GM. I see two things happening:
The smart thing would be: Final battles nao, series ends.
The likely (read: Kubo) thing to happen will be: Aizen/Tosen/Gin/Perhaps a few Espada escape and regroup. Trainingz continue, and as much as I'd like to see Orihime have some actual powers, this is getting ridiculous… >_o
-
You got that confirmation?
Kubo mentioned it in one of the Jump TOC. He said that the Hueco Mundo arc has ended and "the war has begun".

Am I some kind of Bleach-nerd for knowing/remembering the names(full names in most cases) of all the captains, most vice-captains and a small bunch of zanpakutous? Plus of course the full names of the main characters and whatever names have been given to the Espadas.
I guess it helps, when you remember almost every name in One Piece, which has quite an impressive amount of characters.
The presumed Winter War? So far, so good. The pacing is nice now.

I doubt that seeing as how kubo said in interviews that he has no idea how this series will end.

One piece character's name tend to be easier and shorter, all of bleach's characters names are japanesse, I find the fact that you know them amusing.
-
I have no idea how I even remember names. There are still a couple of faces I go "what's his name agan?"
-

Nah, some folks are just better with names than others. Like myself. For reasons unknown, I can name just about every character in Bleach. So, don't feel too bad,
In regards to the chapter, I'll miss Cuulhourne. He was wierd and funny. I like wierd and funny. But, being killed by one of the ever-awesome Squad 11 crew ain't a bad way to go. Also, that fracion Izuru's fighting? Badass.
-
I was actually hoping for yumichika to die….damn kubo and not killing off any important good guy characters.
-
Regarding Hueco Mundo and the war etc. This is not the Winter War and we are still in Hueco Mundo.
Not to shit on anyone's parade or sound like a know-it-all but in the entry that was posted he says that the Hueco Mundo arc will be 'put on hold' not completed. It seems we may safely assume he meant for the flashback and that we are now back in the thick of Hueco Mundo.
And for anyone that remembers all those names, you're amazing.
-
And for anyone that remembers all those names, you're amazing.
The only names I can't remember are the random arrancar that appear every so often. It's easier to remember their names when you play a game where said character is in it a lot.
Besides, Bleach's cast isn't that big compared to series like Negima where there was like 50 characters introduced in the first chapter.
-
Okay, agreed that games make it easier but still. Wow.
It's a bit sad too because when a name gets dropped and it's supposed to be some big shocker, it just goes right over my head like, "That was a character? From when?"
-

All that says is the Karakura town battle will finally begin.
Nothing states the Hueco Mundo arc is finished. Besides didn't Kubo say Unohona would be fighting in the "Winter War?" -
There's literally nothing left in HM outside Ulquiorra and maybe Yammy and Wonderweiss…for all I see, I don't even know what this is anymore.
There is a spoiler: pretty much Kira wins against the bird-guy after giving a speech.
-
no falco punch? (900 bankai's)
-
I don't even know what this is anymore.
According to his entry, this is still HM. He just said he took a break from it with the flashback.
-
come on hell arc…..i'm serious.
-
You and me both.
-
-
You serious? Since the moment I saw that giant knife plunged through the Hollow I've been freaking dying to see whatever it is that arm is attached to.
-
yeah i'm serious. most of the bleach nerds are more concerned about whether or not orihime and ichigo will get together not to mention everytime I even bring it up I get these responces: how can kubo's story go to hell? or That was probably a one time thing? I like to believe that when an author shows something that big really early in the series, he/she has allready planned for it to have a major role in the story and I also get: Hueco Mundo is the hell arc (sounds retarted I know but i've heard it). BTW congrats on getting married (not to sure on how late I am congratulating you).
-
Yeah, I got that same vibe as well. Kinda like us getting to see Shanks early or, heh, the TITLE of One Piece, that almost felt like part of his 'big picture' that he wasn't/isn't ready to explore in the series yet. Thank you, we were married on 08/08/08 so it's not too late! ^_~
-
As much as I want a Hell arc, everything can and probably will be wrapped up by the end of this arc. Aizen will probably reveal everything about the King and the King's key.
The only thing I can see happening is the Espada being wiped out this arc, Aizen leaves with a cliffhanger, and escapes into Hell, with Hueco Mundo being under Soul Society control now.
And then Aizen pulls another group of Hell fags out of his ass, and we get our final fights of the series. Pretty much like what happened in Flame of Recca.

Was this posted here yet?

I lol'ed the whole way.
-
I think the next enemies will be the vasto lorde guys. The ones higher than the arrancar and supposedly stronger than the captains.
-
Halibel 1 Espada ftw
-
Can't believe how predictable and bland this series became since Hueco Mundo…

Fixed. Sorry, but it's true.

Absolute win.
-
I agreed with one statement from that article.
Bleach is an unusually cinematic comic.
Kubo has a great grisp on style, design and flow of his chapters and his characters. He easily has the most aesthetically challenging layout in JUMP.
-
Kubo may know how to make storyboards for an action movie, but that doesn't really translate well into a manga.
As for this week…predictable but Kira's speech and putting Wabisuke around the Eagle guy was cool.
-

You don't enjoy the flow of his comic? I don't mean just storyboard style, his entire layout impresses me from his mid-chapter covers to his variety of color work and most certainly the angles he chooses the depict action from.
I don't always think it's the easiest to understand but that doesn't always mean something straightforward is best.
Rather anecdotal here but before I actually read Bleach I flipped through it just to check out the artwork and designs. I used to plaster my dorm walls with scenes that I had NO CLUE about but it was just beautiful stuff. I think of anyone in JUMP he's got the best handle on style. That's no knock to anyone else, just if he were creating a live-action film, I think it'd be along the lines of early Miike and Takeshi work, both of whom I think have an iron-fisted double-handed grip on the penis of 'style'.

Kubo may have a handle on structure but it just have an extremely hard time translating in a series that is supposed to move from week to week. So many of his pages are just empty spaces with fights going on, with nothing else to draw us in outside the participants. If this was a movie or an anime is would come out amazing, but in manga form it just feels like he is creating what feels like extremely stretched styles. I'm not saying Kubo doesn't have talent, I just think that it doesn't feel right within the format of manga.
-
This chapter was awesome all because of kira. I find it interesting how he gave the exact same speach he gave to matsumoto but made it sound more dark.
@ greg: glad I wasn't too late to congratulate you on that wedding.
now for what's being currently discussed: I honestly find kubo's story telling to be some what a bit confusing at times, i'll have to re-read chapters in order to kinda grasp what's going on. His paneling at times is very dramatic and quite genius, not to mention the style he gives his characters are plain yet unique.

I am pretty sure Kubo is doing the same…To the BANK.

Abirama Redder release form does look like Tizoc they even have the same color XD

I totally know what you mean especially that one blast that the smiling whale pulled off….or was in the 'jow fellow?....where it was a tiny dude in one corner and then basically a 2-page spread of white.
But that's also why I think it's great in how he pulls it off because he's saying, "Look. Look right here, I wasted two pages on this. That's how impressive it is and you're not likely to see this again soon.", and if your mind isn't IN his realm then yeah, it sucks, but if you're living in there picturing that stuff going on well then, you're in heaven.
That being said, I'm nowhere near being a big Bleach fan and I'm certainly not in that realm most of the time at least not (exactly as you said) week to week. If I can sit down and read a tank at a time, then I'm totally in the mindset but since it is inherently a series that moves at a...'reduced'....pace then I really can't complain about that aspect. Anyway, just my two cents.

Me and Bleach names/events. Who said what to whom and where?
-
I too just have to agree that Kira's speech at the end was absolutely epic. The battle itself was okay, although I must have missed something because I don't remember him hitting his wings (if that's what he did)
-
Kira's little speech in the end was fucking awesome. He's quite scary when he's in serious-mode, which makes me hope he's the one who gets to face off against Ichimaru when the time comes.
Pretty cool of Kubo to have a character give a speech saying the exact opposite of what the usual Candidate For Awesome characters say, and still have it be every bit as badassed as when they do it. o/
Also amusing that he gets to be in badass-mode in this week's anime episode as well. This filler arc is surprisingly good, and may actually turn out to be canon with the rest of the series maybe.
Abirama Redder release form does look like Tizoc they even have the same color XD
See? I was right. :p

Yeah, you pretty much nailed it in the head. Bleach is one of those series that is really easy to pick apart page-by-page and chapter-by-chapter, but works really well when read/watched in bunches. Helps with getting immersed in the story, which makes it much easier to appreciate the way he does things.
Me and Bleach names/events. Who said what to whom and where?
Kira Izuru, vice-captain of the third division, formerly under Ichimaru Gin. Blonde-haired guy with the goofy hook-sword and eternal :< expression.
He was talking to Matsumoto Rangiku, vice-captain of the 10th division under Hitsugaya. Blonde shotacon with big breasts.
Don't recall where/when. :/
And since I somehow never said so before, congrats on getting hitched. Wishing you happiness and all that good stuff.
-
Matsumoto and Kira fought during the soul society arc. That's where kira first spoke about his shikai and that's where he also explained about how everytime he strikes someone's sword it becomes 2 times heavier with each hit.
-
Way to fucking go, Kira! That's an awesome speech. Because it's true. And not without a touch of irony considering this is a series almost entirely about battle and war.
And this is the sort of fighting that I like in Bleach. Not pure power against pure power (although that's always awesome when it involves Zaraki), but rather distinctive powers/techniques and how you use them.
That said, it's a shame this guy went down so fast, I thought he had a really cool design.
-
I get the feeling that ikkaku's battle is going to be the only one to use ban-kai
