Can't wait for this game. Unfortunately it got bumped up to UA's release date, so it looks like I'm cranking out $100 that day.
No More Heroes is coming over!
-
-
Unlimited Adventure is $40.
-
Then it'll be $90 then!
-
Would this game be worth getting if I liked Viewtiful Joe (seems to have a style similar to NMH) and Resident Evil 4 (I know that I can handle the over-the-top amounts of blood), along with the sword mechanics from the Wii version of Zelda: Twilight Princess? From what I've heard about Killer7's story, it made it so I didn't buy the game, but the story in this game sounds less complicated.
-
Would this be a better game to get than Super Mario Galaxy? It looks fun but I wanna know just how repetitive and short it is. I know none of you have played it cause it isn't out yet so you can't answer, but what do you think from what we do know now?
Also, I hear it's a sequel to Killer 7. I've never played Killer 7, so do you think there will be missing puzzle pieces for me if I played this?
-
1. Get Galaxy. IIRC No More Heroes is around 11 hours. But still, Galaxy is a blast and as much as I'm looking forward to this game I kind of doubt it'll be anywhere near as fun as Galaxy.
2. It's not a sequel to Killer7 -
Apparently there's a few references to Killer 7, but nothing that'll interfere with the plot if you haven't played it.
-

I gotta say, I'm really starting to get interested in this game. Even tho tons of people are telling me to get Galaxy, if I can afford to get another game alongside Unlimited Adventure, I think this may be it.

Something is desperately wrong with that post.

No More Heroes Gametrailers review
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/29844.html?type=flvYeah, I'll probably pick up my copy tomorrow and depending on school work will start a play through on Thursday or Friday.
-
I'd go to the gamestore to see if they received a shipment, but there's a gigantic motherfucking snowstorm going on outside :'(
-
I'm definitely considering the game, but I wanna make sure if it'll be the type of game that I'll keep coming back to and playing when bored or if it's just good for a one shot. If it's a simple one shot, I'll probably get Super Mario Galaxy as Mario games tend to be great to replay.
-
This looks like a game I'd thoroughly enjoy… I so need to get a Wii!
-
Personally, I don't replay many games, and I don't think No More Heroes will be any different. I can see myself playing through it to completion and then tucking away neatly on my shelf. I'll definitely be buying it though, looks pretty sweet.
Super Mario Galaxy on the other hand, I can see myself replaying quite a bit, even after getting the 120 stars. Mario games have great replay value, and Galaxy is the best for some time, in my opinion.

IGN Review : http://wii.ign.com/articles/846/846921p1.html
Gamespot Review : http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/heroes/index.html
-
Woah not what I expected from the Gamespot review.
Figured it'd get around an 8, like the IGN review.
-
Holy shit @ the Gamespot review.
And the average user rating on 1up is about 9.5
-
Dammit, I must say I interested a lot in this game despite knowing Mario is probably the better game. I think I'm ultimately gonna cave into it and get Mario later, I don't play games often (I have a shitload of incomplete PS2 games) so I guess replay isn't a big deal with me.
-
I never saw what the Mario hype was about. It was just another game to me. Same thing with Bioshock. Not one of those "Holy shit, this game is awesome" games, that Call of Duty 4 and Twilight Princess gave me.
-
Mario always gets attention when he's got a new game out (Galaxy is very deserving of the hype if you ask me though), and Bioshock's HolyShitness factor comes in after about halfway through the game.
-
This games been getting good scores.
Now I'm really gonna have to check this one out. -
Yeah, I'm definitely gonna pick this one up on the weekend.
-
Xplay gave it a 5/5 btw. But um… yeah, it is xplay...
-
I see nothing wrong with X-Play, their reviews seem pretty accurate most of the time.
-
How can they be accurate when they openly, and frequently, admit bias against certain genre of games?
-
I just bought it today, pretty good game so far, it's pretty difficult on mild mode (the hardest mode) especially since you don't know the controls right away, but I didn't want to puss out and go with "sweet."
-
This game is the shit. I chose Sweet, but I don't know if I should do it on Mild instead. I don't think you can change the difficulty once you started a game.
-
How hard is the game on sweet, Steve? KHII hard? If so, I may go with Mild.
-
Hard as in stupid Sephiroth boss fight?
The second boss fight took some time, it's not too difficult but not so simple.
-
Wow…
Beat the first boss...
That leaves 9. And for the first time in awhile...
The game doesn't feel like it's my job. I actually enjoy it.
But I don't see where it can go from here. Seems like a Star Wars meets Assassin's Creed placed in modern day California. 8 bosses, plus the short intro stage. I'll have to keep playing and find out if there's really anything deeper than just killing the main guys.
-
How hard is the 1st boss?
-
@bunshindattebayo:
How hard is the 1st boss?
He isn't too hard; he's got a really obvious pattern, once you figure out what it actually is.
-
Man, so I guess I must be the only guy on the planet that doesn't like this game, huh?
I ended up buying it after months and months of being totally pumped, and within a couple of hours gave up because I was having no fun at all. Don't get me wrong, the action sequences are fun - I had a great time swinging the Wii remote like a retard to suplex people - but the problem is they're too few and far between. To get to the next major action sequence, you need to get money by driving to the job place, getting a job, driving to the job, doing a pointless minigame or painfully short fight, and then driving back; and should you screw up, you need to drive back just to get the job again and drive to it again. And only then, after repeating this seeral times, are you allowed some fun. I shouldn't have to work for my fun in a game.
Which brings me to my least favorite part about this game: the goddamn motorcycle. Whoever programmed that thing obviously has a definition of "fun" somewhere around the vicinity of masochism, because that is the most frustrating piece of shit ever. It doesn't move particularly fast, even with the turbo, it's impossible to steer, and the three Wii remote functions assigned during it the controller can not tell the difference between - whenever I want to slide left I either slide right or jump, and most of the time I just jump for the hell of it. Then I always end up crashing, which takes a long-ass time to get out of, and considering the amount of crashes I get into , it feels almost like I'd go faster if I walked. Also frustrating is the fact that the game is supposed to feel "large and expansive" because the city is huge, but the problem is not much of it is even used for stores and stuff and none of it looks particularly interesting, making driving through it more of a chore than anything else.
My final complaint is in regards to the characters. I can't like Travis. He's annoying as hell and all of his attempts at humor just make me feel uncomfortable; when he groped that poster in his room and said "moe," I honestly wanted to laugh, but I was mostly dissapointed because I expected him to be some nerd-turned-exaggerated-badass ala Gene from God Hand or Dante (in badassness, not the geekiness), and instead he's some greasy nerd that reminds me too much of the irritating anime geeks I've unfortunately met. The rest of the characters I've met are all extremely bland, and the enemies are so faceless and identical I can't even keep track of myself killing them.
I don't know. Maybe I don't like this because I'm comparing it too much to God Hand, which was superior even in the action sequences. But this game just reeks of unfinishedness and poor planning, trying to pull off everything from minigames to motorcycle racing to sandbox open-world play, when it really should have just stuck to its strength: beating things up. All that other stuff is done really frustratingly poorly and you can't get to the fun until you get past it, so I'm not seeing myself opening this game up again in a while.
-
I think Travis was supposed to come off as annoying/moronic. But yeah, it's pretty unpolished in a lot of aspects but I'm having a blast playing it.
-
Just bought it 5 hours ago, started playing it 3 hours ago,and finished the bossfight against Dr.Peace 15 minutes ago.And I gotta say,THIS GAME IS THE BEST GAME ON THE WII EVER!Even though I haven't played Super Mario Galaxy yet.:ninja:
-
Out of all the Wii games I got, I'd def say this one is my favorite. Only thing I could fault this with is the dead city, and somewhat too straightforward level design. Everything else is top notch.
Just beat Shinobu BTW. Her super move is retardedly strong.

I can't count how many times she used that when she was just about to go down (and killed me in the process). After facing Shinobu, Destroyman felt like a cake-walk.
-
I dunno if any of you guys played through the whole game yet. But…
MAJOR SPOILERS ARE LOCATED BELOW ME. D:
! This game is a total mindfuck, especially when you select the real ending. Dear God, I didn't think there'd be that many movie references (Star Wars, specfically Obi-Wan Kenobi, Duke Nukem Forever, and even Back to the Future.
! Well, this game was a good purchase. I especially loved the dialogue between Travis and Jeane. Game ratings…lulz. -
i after i took my last dump i selcted real ending and saved it over by accident and i wanted to c the other ending options is it the "normal" story ending when u kill jeane
what jeane said in fast foward(i can remember)
! jeanes dad left her mother to b w/ travis' mother and so she killed her self in anguish so jean decided to kill him and ur mother
-
There was a video that slowed her dialogue down a while ago, although it was still hard to hear at points.
She also talked about her stepdad molesting her or something. I'll try to find it again.
edit:
0SsGqc3rZ1sThe audio's actually really clear in this one.
