quite the oposite in fact : I didn't said that the "monsters" won't fight others crew. what I meant was : Nami and Ussop and maybe Robin (given her powers) will probably have most of their "moments of glory" while fighting a great numbers of people.

EL exemples :
Luffy beating x1000 marines was'nt impressive but Nami zappings countless marines and holding against marines captains is.
Ussop on the roof of the tower of justice sniping marine soldiers was also impressive. (one of my favorite moment)

That's because Nami and Usopp don't fight only one opponent since the one enemy is strong, and they can't win except by the opponents stupidity(Kalifa). I'm not sure about Robin though since her best fight(and only fight)was against Yama)

Ivotas: i dont think the smell is part of Absoloms power. IRCC Chopper could smell him, through Usopps fart, in the bathroom… he could even localize where in the bathroom he was.

the odd smell is either

plotdevice disguised as pure coincidence.
Absolom came prepared since he knew chopper could smell him.
Usopps ammo.

Pretty sure the smell is associated with the power. Someone made a kickass post a few pages back about the green rose that 'camouflages' itself in real life and also has a strong odor.

Doesn't explain his seemingly psychic ability of course.

well technicly if it is absolom that is the source of the smell would it be covering his sent trail? Chopper wouldnt have any problem finding him unless it was from another source imo. (To me chopper doesnt seem to be reacting as if the smell is overwhelming like he did about Namis perfume in alabasta… or was that anime only?)

I really hope that Absaloms ability is revealed soon. I am pretty sure after chapter 457 that it is a Invisible fruit where he can turn himself and others invisible. Judging by the way his hands are after attacking Usopp and Chopper, he must have flamethrowers, laser like things or guns that are constantly hidden.

lol didnt think anyone would actually read that but what do you mean by psychic ability ?
as for whether are not the smell comes from absalom.. you are raising a reaally good point - but maybe that smells only comes up when he's activating his power? (just like how you can't smell much a flower when it's closed and therefore kinda have a leaf shape but whatever)

anyway i still believe that it's not gonna be invisible fruit.. it's way too easy and not really fun ^^" .. but hey we do have generic powers like the logia.. but then again nobody wouldv guess the soap fruit or the giraffe fruit

Well the fruit regrows once the person dies, so i'm guessing they lose their abilities. Nice thought though.

Despite the harsh criticism for this chapter from so many sides I didn´t find it half bad. Sure it was rather slow, didn´t really push the story ahead and the title gag was one of the more predictable ones … but ... I rather felt that this slight slowdown might be a good and neccessary thing for the pacing of the story (read as a whole later) after the couple of action and info packed chapters we were treated with during the last weeks.
And like others noted before there were some fine moments I really liked:

Robin ever more clearly giving up her distanced attitude towards the crew (using names instead of functions)
Ussops spontanous reaction when Nami was seized (so straight - can change really happen?:blink: But alas, everything Ivotas wrote about his effectiveness as sniper is so true:sad:)
and most important Chopper - he lost quite some of his innocence and naivety in this chapter - his clear and harsh judgement of his former idol … Isn´t this the first time ever that we have seen the little rendeer taking such a stance? On top of that he instantanously realized when Ussop pulled out the "wrong" weapon ... way to go Chopper!!

Small things, yes … but they all have their own direction and reason.

I dont thin Chopper lost his "innocence and naivety", i would interpret that more as his "doctor side" and ethics taking over these sides of him.
That makes him see how wrong and far from what a doctor can and is suppose to do aka help people without harming others..

I'm starting to lack the thought of caring about this point. Well, the invisible fruit seems most sensible, as a Paramecia. Also, a less thought of idea, remembered something off Simpsons. Bill Gates said that by altering light rays you can make things invisible. Sort of a far shot though. The invisible fruit seems to be spooky, which fits in with the arc. Perona I think will fight Nico. Sanji vs. Absalom and Chopper vs. Hogback. Hogback might have a fruit that can stitch up anything, but its unlikely. Would be good in a fight, get your arm chopped off and a few organs punctured, fix em up. As for Perona, her ghost fruit thing seems really boring for a fight.

Yeah I this is the first time I read a theory like that. If by any chance I read a post that featured the same thought then I probably have either missed it or completely misunderstood it.

I support the idea that Absalon is using his power to hide his weapons. The "strange smell" Chopper sensed is probably the effect of Absalon's weapons (like the smell of gunpowder).

personally im more inclined to think it was usopps weapon that made the smell since the absolom explosion was at the bottom of the stairs, and chopper was trying to pick up the sent at the middle/top of the stairs where the viperstar exploded.

Ah, Don Krieg with a Devil Fruit?

Nah, I don't think he's like that. I think his power is like the Invisible Woman's, but with an Oda twist: The Breath Breath Fruit (Iki iki). Using his breath, he can create a mist that renders him and those with him invisible. Also, the breath can be used as a weapon, similar to I-Pin's weapon in Katekyo Hitman Reborn. That would prove 4 things:

1. How he can render Nami invisible (breathing on her)

2. Why Chopper smells something like Sakura (Fresh Breath)

3. Why he has a muzzle attached to his face (enhance his power)

4. Why his power can appear like fireballs (Breath has been proven to be flammable)

he was invisible while licking them… theres not much closer you can come to beeing breathed on while his power is active...

apart from breathing on nami he was holding her (the mist around his hands should be affecting namis wrists) and she is kicking him in the balls or something which should affect her foot.. shouldnt it? hes grabbing zoros sword too without that turning partly invisible.
ofc it could be plot devices thats preventing us to figure out what shape he is or what exatly is going on. but i still find the mist idea unlikely. (dont have any better myself though and cant explain why nami became invisible in this chapter)

Perhaps it's a breath logia. That would mean that he could turn into breath (rendering himself invisible), cover other people in his breath at his choice (turning them invisible), and fire blasts that CAN be flammable.

The only snafu about that, though, is why a person with a logia would serve someone else…

I don't understand what you mean by "uneventful". Most of the One Piece chapters have had something important happen, or something important revealed. If you mean non-stop action, that's not what One Piece is about. But uneventful would be like the 5 pages it took for Oz to wake up in the current chapter… totally unnecessary. Or if they had ten pages of someone reacting to someone farting.

If there's important plot revealed or if events actually occur, then that's not uneventful.
