No my intention was never ever to abuse any lack of knowledge in japaneese. that would just be stupid as it can be thrown back into my face.

what i wanted to know was if you knew about translations. because imo no translation from whatever language can be word for word and still keep its meaning. words that get translated are in most cases "roughly" the same and with multiple meanings it gets harder.
and the more different the grammar in the two languages the harder it is to translate meaning word by word. cultural differences also play in.

metaphores, jokes and play on words are the hardest to translate of all. (play on words needs explanations)

that is why i think you should never focus on one word in a translation no matter how "reccomended" the translation is.

I know what you mean, that's why when I translate something I always write the phrases other possible meanings. Also if I think it's a metaphor I will translate it that way, but I will write it word by word in brackets.

You finally used Canon to support your Shanks=Mihawk. Your right, I can't show you where Mihawk beat Shanks. There aren't any facts or info that say Mihawk is stronger than the Yonkou, what the fuck are you talking about? There aren't any that say that he's second to Whitebeard, either. Yeah, Mihawk has the title of World's Strongest Swordsman, and Whitebeard has the title of World's Strongest Man. But, there could easily be a "World's Strongest Merman" or "World's Strongest Axeman" that defeats them both. :P We don't have enough facts and information now to prove anything. Well, except Luffy + Blood > Crocodile, or Blackbeard > Houses on Banaro Island, or Sanji = incredibly weak to girls. Those are facts. Everything you're coming up with is pure speculation.

It has been proven that Mihawk is a better swordsman then Shanks. But Shanks' true fighting style has not been proven (unless you want to judge on one clash, which would be foolish).

But logic points to Mihawk being stronger. I just don't get when people act as if they're sure one is stronger than the other, when we have yet to see Shanks in battle and his fighting techniques.

not sure any of you guys remember me but i pop on apforums every once and awhile but i read virtually everything in the manga section OiP truely doesnt insult anyone unless they say something to him first and if i say that about OiP(the guy who used to argue with WB and OiP all the time about the Luffy>Zoro thing) then he must be true. I don't say failure I say WRONG, it's one of my trademarks.

I don't see how that is an insult, it's a debate. You say my info is wrong but you'll say it in an indirect way, but in the end you're still saying my post is wrong.

I don't see the problem with that, that is your personality or it could even be a tradition from the country from which you were born. I just happen to have another personality, I'm very direct with my words. If I think your post is wrong, I'll just come out and say it.

When I say "you should have read that part of the manga properly" It's for a reason, the person has missed some important info so I want them to re-read a certain part.

These are just your typical phrases in a debate, they've also been used against me many times. So I fail to understand how these can be seen as insults, they're just typical debate phrases. I also think you misjudge superstar too, he only uses the typical debate phrases and some random jokes. I also don't recall fixius doing anything, he's pretty new.

One piece is on the last island in the Grand Line which makes it hard to get. There are 4 yonkous in the second half of the grand line which makes it harder.

or it could just as well have been that Shanks never actualy desired the worlds strongest swordsman title and thus has never challenged him for it just throwing it out there as a possible scenario, and in a continued what if scenario if Shanks and Mihawk tied when ever it was that they last fought and after they parted Mihawk went on to defeat or in some otherway claim the title he so sorley desired and Shanks just went about getting a crew and starting up his carefree pirate life wouldnt that still make them equal even tho one of them now has a fancier title? but do note this is purley imagination from my side but still a possible scenario me thinks.
