Actually I'd prefer it if the game was like Sonic Rush, i.e. 2.5D as I felt Sonic has never worked well in the third dimension. He works well in 2D so why change it?

Seems like things are on the up and up for the franchise.
I've heard this so many times it isn't even funny
-
well the franchise isnt exactly going up and up, but i was definitely a fan of the sonic rush game and glad that they're making another one.
I hope they keep the creator of the music from JSRF as the BGM provider for this sequel, the soundtrack of sonic rush was fucking awesome
-
So why does this actually look worse than the first Sonic Rush exactly?
-
well im hoping its because of jpeg compression, but it could also because sonic looks pretty flat (outside of the what i assume to be bonus stage levels on the water), like a only-slightly-rehashed version of the sonic advance games
-
^ Lord have mercy…..
-
i knew blaze would be back. but i didn't see her coming
-
Ugh… I really wish Sega would stop making new characters and revive some of their old ones. Heck, a recent opinion poll stated that many fans wanted to see Mighty return.
-
Ahhh Sonic! Stop having new characters! Raah, why can't Sega learn that adding new characters EVERY SINGLE GAME is stupid?
-
Hmm….I didn't really like Blaze, but I do like the looks of that racoon character (looks like a racoon anyway)
But as nifty as the racoon looks, the amount of main characters in the Sonic universe is getting ridiculous.
We've already got: Sonic, Tales, Knuckles, Metal Sonic, Charmy, Vector, Espio, Eggman, Amy, Cream, Big, Rouge, Chaos, Gamma, Emerl, Tikal, The Chao, Shadow, Omega, Blaze, Jet, Wave, Storm, Silver, Racoon girl.
Not to mention old characters who haven't been brought back yet. Like Ray, Mighty, and Fang. (I'm sure they'll pop up eventually though)

I´ve read in a forum that this is fake…

I don't know how I feel about this new game. Rush was okey until I beat the final boss for the first time. I didn't touch the game after that (unless you count taking the cartridge out from my DS). I sorta liked the musics though.

Don't forget Gemerl, Mephiles, Metal Knuckles, the Tails Doll, Bean, Bark and beta character Honey the Cat. Anyway, I agree with you. With all these characters I fail to see why Sega has to make new ones every bloody game. I'd rather see Sonic, Tails and Knuckles as the main playable characters or the return of fan favourites (bar Shadow) in the next Sonic game then half a dozen new ones.
-
^ Does Honey actually count? Considering she never actually starred in a game.
I´ve read in a forum that this is fake…
Nope it's legit, I read on that horrible Sonic Stadium forum that it was leaked from Sega of Europe.
-

Valid point, though I believe a doll of her in her second costume could be seen in the intro to a game, possibly Fighting Vipers 2.

Damn -_-

I found some pictures
-
It's hard to imagine that someone at Sega actually thinks this will outsell Halo 3.
-
Mario keeping up with Sonic is just wrong on so many levels. But the game doesn't look to bad tho.
-
Bowser is so at a disadvantage…
-
I'm more worried about eggman there…
-
Eggman is fast.
In Sonic 2 for example, he easily outran Sonic.
-
Duuuuuuuuude!! Those screens make me want to do bad things to my Genesis. I love it!
-
why isn't sonic triple lapping everybody?
-
That looks hilariously awful. Yeah, I'll be skipping this.
-
He was nerf'd.
The main problem with this game…is...well, it doesn't seem to have any Mario or Sonic characteristics besides the characters. If there aren't any mushrooms or rings...well...it seems like you could replace Sonic and Mario with Naruto and One Piece and no one could tell.
I mean...the game looks like all the characters might play exactly the same.
-
That's true, it doesn't look to have any of the personality of either series. It kinda looks like a serious Olympics game, with these characters tacked on. A little TOO serious.
-
How can you people say this is gonna suck? It's Sonic & Mario!! And it's an Olympic game. Those always rock!
-
This game looks really fun, if only because Dr. Eggman and Bowser can finally battle it out.
Even if Knuckles is ruining the scene by simply being the dumbfuck that he is.
-
Olympic-based video games have always been a collection of shallow mini-games, which both the Wii and DS have far too much of already. Plus, there's not even any attempt to represent each franchise in any way other than having the characters there.
Basically, it's what everyone expected it to be from when it was announced: a shoddy cheap cash-in.
Bowser vs. Eggman would be pretty entertaining though.
-
The Wii is about gameplay interaction, so of course it's going to have a lot of mini-game-based games. That's the entire point of the motion sensitive controls. A motion-based game where you're trying to run or jump over a hurdle makes much more sense than a motion-based RPG where you swing the Wiimote to do Squall's Renzokuken.
That, and this is the first Mario & Sonic game ever made, so its very existence is a milestone.
Was always kind of funny that Guilty Gear walked up and purchased Sonic. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
-
There is always a chance the series will be represented more. We've seen what, two screenshots? Not a lot of info to base final, definite opinions on. I'm not saying that it won't suck, it just might, but two screens are hardly enough to determine so.
-
& we still don
t know if these screenies aren
t fakes.
Are the two games developed only by Sega ? ( Sega is shit nowadays ) -
I think this Olympic venture is much better than Square-Enix's upcoming Final Fantasy fighter. At least in this you can play curling with a Wii remote.
-
I found 2 more screenies :
Edit:
The DS Version :

@Cap'n:
I hope these games end up like the ones in Munich
same as it ever was
-
You know what would be awesome. If there were Mario Kart-esque powerups.
IMMA GONNA SET THE WORLD RECO….banana peel
-
Hahahaha! Hitting the leader with a blue turtle shell would be legendary.
-
I wonder… Is this game going to introduce a Super Saiyan Mario? I mean, we do have Sonic the Goku rip off here...

I mean Golden Hair and all that… That pic is Kaioken...

The curtain doesn't match the carpet, is all. His golden hair is in a special place.

Mario can keep up with and possibly beat Sonic because the gravity in the Mushroom Kingdom is 5 times that of Earth
-
I have calculated Mario's attack speed based on the muzzle velocity of real life turtle shells and came to the conclusion he moved at mach 18, Sonic won't even have time to blink before Mario goes medieval on his furry ass.
-
Mario's training weights are 10000000000000 cubicle grams.
Sonic's shoes are red, which is the color of blood and means that he killed his family with the power of 5,000 hatred volts.

And Mario's color has been red for more years, and let's not forget that his Cap must weight 1,000 Tons. That Plumber is a force to be reckoned…

]Olympic-based video games have always been a collection of shallow mini-games**,** which both the Wii and DS have far too much of already. Plus, there's not even any attempt to represent each franchise in any way other than having the characters there.
And not all of them were bad.
That game was by far the best "party" game for the SNES, even tough it was merely "mini games", yet they had style, not like this upcoming game that looks utterly simple…
-
Um… sounds sort of different, but imo Sonic games have been abandoned lately, and its good they are reviving them.
-
That's because Sega went bankrupt.
Guilty Gear walked up and purchased their asses.
