I can't decide if this looks good or shitty.
Well, being optimistic never hurts! (Oh, wait…..)

If you guys can't watch it on IGN, here you go.
EDIT:http://wii.ign.com/articles/820/820172p1.html
Two-player play, online mode, and Artificial Life confirmed.
And new screens.
A lot of the textures in the first couple of shots look funky, but the desert level still looks great. And looking at the new features, I'm really impressed about how much they're packing into this sucker.
This game will suck out any remaining masculinity I've got left.
I can't decide if this looks good or shitty.
Honestly, it doesn't look that far removed from the original.
Also, Sonic Team USA.
Going to have to buy it, just because the girlfriend loves sparkly happy magic shit.
NiGHTS was a fun Saturn game, anyway, so it'll probably be enjoyable.

IGN's hands on, coupled with some new screens and trailers.
Alright, after seeing the most recent video and pics, it does look a lot better. They just have to fix the shitty framerate.
I'm reasonably optimistic.
This game looks cool and all, but I haven't heard much talk from fans who have got it? Anyone got it yet, and is it worth it?
wIkK3d GrRrafFiXX!!
I think we actually had a thread over the sequel.
I've never played the original in a long time, but I've had immense interest in the art-style and concept, and am actually contemplating on finding means to get the original after watching a walkthrough on youtube. (Fucking Soft Museum)

I dunno, I might get it.

Ouch.
Pretty bummed out right now if this is accurate. Was really hoping this would live up to all buzz around it and it's prequel. I can't even think of a shitty dreams pun to fit the situation.
Now, off to check out some other reviews.
Nintendo Power gave it 9/10…and NP's been pretty fairer since the redesign.
IGN had the harshest review, from what I've seen. The other reviews said it was pretty good. I may actually pick this up.
i never played or heard of Nights until Sonic Adventure DX on GCN.
I just saw the commercial last night and i think it looks like a cool game and I may rent it when i can.
sometihng I heard about wifi too
I got the game, and I have to admit, they kinda screwed some stuff up. Some of the missions in the game aren't in the NiGHTS style (You play as the Kid in some of them, and in in others you are a transformation of NiGHTS (Boat, Roller Coaster Car.)) But the game was pretty enjoyable overall. You should use the Classic controller or the Gamecube controller to play, because the Remote control just sucks and the Nunchuck isn't that bad, but it lacks a completeness I needed to play the game correctly. The voice acting can be annoying at times, but by the end of the game I was used to it. They challenge you to get at least C ranks in all levels to get the final ending, which I did pretty easily, and the final ending is pretty different.
There are always three missions in all of the normal worlds, along with two more missions that vary between worlds. The three sustained missions are The Chase Mission, based on the Classic NiGHTS stages, Links Challenge, which is a test to get as many links as you can in the NiGHTS style, and the Boss mission, which is a harder version of a Boss you faced at the end of the Chase mission. These missions were pretty good, and I liked them. Now the other two missions can be pretty much everything, like the child's stages and the NiGHTS transformation stages. There are also other twists, like saving Nightopians from a Black Hole type cloud and playing the Dreams Dreams theme while flying and hitting the Notes. Some of these can be hard, but enjoyable as well. Persona masks are cool, but not a required thing in most levels except for the Dolphin Mask, which allows you to go in the water, and during some boss battles, especially during the final one.
Overall I would say it's a good game, but they should have tried to aim more towards the original formula. My dream is pretty addicting, and alot of the objects you can get are cool. Wi-Fi racing is pretty much perfect, and I have seen no lag what so ever, or any frame rate issues. There are some glitches though, but not game breaking (I had to restart a mission once because I got the key in a chase mission, but the enemy just got frozen, and the I didn't actually get the key, and I couldn't attack him to get it, because it registered him as defeated.) You should buy the game if you are a fan of the series, or if you want to try it and see how it is, just rent it, but I wouldn't overlook it if I were you. (But I don't think I am, or this could be alot more confusing as you would have already had gotten the game and know all of this stuff.)
tl;dr: It's a good game, at least try it, use the classic controller or the Gamecube controller, which you can actually use. (It has the same control options as SSBB. (FANCY.))
And now for story stuff, in a spoiler:
! Will is the main male character, who is having Nightmares because his dad suddenly left on a business trip and he's all depressed and lonely without him because he was his friend or something, and helped him learn to play soccer too. He escapes the Nightmares and makes it to the dream gate, which is the access point to the levels and My Dream, anlong with an explorable place in itself. He meets NiGHTS and has fun with him and stuff, then he finds out he is actually a Nightmaren and is somewhat afraid but then everyone seems to forget this until the final ending after the initial level and the related speech he gives to Helen, the female lead. She has nightmares because she has a recital coming up with her mother, but is spending less time with her and more with her friends. Pretty much the same deal as with Will about the whole Nightmaren thing, but Will helps Helen overcome it, like I said. Both instances Reala is the one to introduce the facts to the children, either purposely for Helen, or while talking with NiGHTS, as Will learns. Reala is always evil though, and never joins NiGHTS side, contrary to what most people suspected would happen.
! Then in the final level, NiGHTS is taken by Wizeman to have his mind and soul replaced with another, more obedient one, and the Kids take a lead off of the floating rubble that Wizeman left behind to end up in Bellridge and save NiGHTS by flying on their own. Then in the normal ending they save NiGHTS and succeed and their paths. (Will wins his game, Helen's Recital goes off without a problem.)
! But the final ending is somewhat darker. They realize if the stop and destroy Wizeman once and for all, all of his creations will be destroyed as well, including NiGHTS. The kids are reluctant at first, but the battle goes the same way. Then after it all, NiGHTS begins to disappear in a White light and takes his final bow, smiling. The kids wake up crying, thanking NiGHTS.
! They once again succeed in the tasks, but then Helen ends up at a previously mentioned stage in a park, and Will is walking by said stage with his friends and his dad when the soccer ball he was kicking around falls down the stairs. He sees the stage, and Helen, who is playing the Dreams Dreams music on her violin to her mom, BUT THEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT. Will rushes down, while the screen shows the city, and Helen opens her eyes to see Will standing there smiling, and it begins to snow. (Helen's mother is apparently gone, and Will's dad seems to have forgotten him, as neither of them appear during this last part after the lights go out.) Then the credits role playing Dreams Dreams~Sweet Snow.
! Then we get a final video for each child, showing them asleep, panning up to the top of the clock tower, where NiGHTS is standing, playing his invisible flute.
Edit: Now everything has been spell checked. If there are any prominent errors, blame OpenOffice, not me.
Yeah, disregard IGN's rating. Their rating is mostly based around the idea that they thought the game was gonna suck. They didn't even bother acknowledging the control problems (which are solved using the GameCube or Classic controllers, as cbajd5 mentioned).
Everyone else has said the game is overall decent. Not fantastic, but still good. It seems like Sonic Team is more prone to fucking up games released on multiple consoles (recent Sonic games that weren't on the Wii, DS or GBA). They already screwed up Sonic and Phantasy Star on the PlayStation and Xbox consoles. :\
IMO I like the game. I love the art style but I would gove the game a 7/10. It's a nice game but would be average to other consumers.
Thanks for the review.
Kind of getting a ''Yoshi's Island'' type vibe from the little I've read.
Shame it didn't stick to the original more, I was hoping to re-live the days of watching my brother play it as I had my eyes glued to the television, baffled by the flying, purple flamer.
Nostalgia's a bitch.
Oh it follows most of the formula of the original (though not 100%) and it lives up to its name. It's just not game of the year type of awesome. It lives up to the standards the first game left and worthy of grabbing.
Certainly better than someone who's been around since 1991 yet can't seem to do 3D right at all.

Heh, that actually made my hard-ass self smirk.
I'll probably rent this first. From the videos I've seen, it still looks like a load of fun.
Finally got my own copy as a Christmas gift.
I forgot how the game liked to kick my ass with the rankings. :ermm:
Oh yeah, should also be noted was that NiGHTS' ambiguous gender has been…altered with. He's now voiced by a British woman, so now it REALLY makes you think "Is NiGHTS a woman...?" :wassat:

They refer to NiGHTS in game with masculine pronouns, and in he manual they avoid using any pronouns what so ever in his descriptions, so they're trying to make it into some sort of conspiracy.
PANIC.
God this game is the gayest game ever.
Yet fun.

"ALTHOUGH THIS GAME IS sort OF GOOD, WHEN I PLAY IT, I FEEL GAY. THEREFORE, I HATE THIS GAME."
I got it yesterday, pretty fun but it should have received some more development time. Also the hard ver. of the second boss is a real pain!
