Well, the name implies that when they take 10 steps they would feel their injury. I would say that it points to that. Eventually something would have happened though.
Chapter 450: "General Zombie Night"
-
-
Stephen´s Script is out for everybody who cares.
Btw, about Ryuma´s move - Did I get it correctly that nothing would have happened to Nami, Usopp and Chopper if they wouldn´t have moved? In other words, is this some sort of Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique?
While that's certainly possible, my take was more that it was a delayed attack or possibly a stationary air slice. The actual slice, so far as I could tell, was the quick removal of the sword from the scabbard. After that point, Ryuma simply walked past Namusochop, who ran towards the door from which Ryuma had entered. They RAN INTO the air slice as if it were a stationary trip wire of some sort and injured themselves upon it.
-
That's what I thought too, however the explanation that was given and the name points to Ryuuma cutting all of them extremely fast. It was such a clean cut that it doesn't actually affect you until you get ten feet from where you where first cut.
-
Ahh, now that I've read steven't script I see what you're talking about.
Actually, that's a hell of a lot better for the crew. At the point that the blade left the scabbard, all three of the strawhats were defending themselves from an attack. Nami was blocking with the climatact, ussop had his bag of tricks in front of him as he searched for a tool, and chopper was hiding behind his metal cross. This obviously didn't completely defend against the blow, but it may have saved their lives by turning a mortal blow into a flesh wound.
This also shows that ryuma was indeed acting with the desire to kill Namusocop. Maybe he feels that he has a better chance getting into Nami's paties after she turns into a zombie.
-
well, seeing as how the attack is an idiom for comedic storytelling, I'm 95% CERTAIN that Zoro is gonna fight him now. Zoro always fights interesting characters with something quirky about them.
-
This also shows that ryuma was indeed acting with the desire to kill Namusocop. Maybe he feels that he has a better chance getting into Nami's paties after she turns into a zombie.
Please don't take this the wrong way but that made me laugh. I know you meant to put panties but you put paties instead. Ryuuma wants to get into Nami's paties! Haha…just had to let that out.
Anyway, now all three of them will be thrown in the dark void, UNLESS, Sanji comes to save the day. However, I think he's in a trap somewhere so into the void they go!
-
Quirks.
Ok
First you say he's doing nothing.
Then we point of that he has done something, probably more then Zoro, Sanji, and robin have had. Then you say it just Quirks.
What do you exactly want him to do?
-
A little tidbit just wondering if anyone noticed. In the disco page, a zombie on the far right is making the same super pose Franky always does, and he even has arms of similar type!
-
Ryuuma's sword is already Zoro's !!!
Yeah i agree with that!
But before that, zoro gotta do nitoryu in order to defeat him as his yubashiri is broken. Maybe he would do some cannon move or even a shishisonson. -
What a great chapter!
So I guess I was right the Japanese character on Ryuuma's garb was Dragon. I guess that was a bit of a forshadow…
-
Several thoughts:
-
The sword guy (Ryuma?) seems to have super speed or mastered air cutting (it seems more like he moved the air with his sword than that he made actual contact with the 3, but i might be way off) Anyway, I predict some kind of cheesy Zoro fight where thy cut air alot or maybe zoro has to "cut death" (since this guy seems ot be an undead-type zombie) Yeah, that seems like the next step up towards mihawkdom…
-
what's the "RAINBOW" thing advertised at the beginning? It seems to have to do with the 10th anniversary... looks kind of shiny and cool.
-
does anyone else feel like we've had ALOT of new characters introduced in say, the last 5 or 6 chapters to the point where it's hard to keep track of them?
-
-

This is what I got out of it.
-
I was surpise that Oda brought Ryuma from Wanted into One Piece it was funny when Ryuma wanted to see Nami's panties like Brook(I miss Brook ;-;) i did like Franky beating up those zombies and and all the zombies danceing and the generals are cool
-

oopsie… this is what I get for not checking my spelling before running down to dinner. You're right though... paties sounds more explicit for some unknown reason.
Oh, and to mention something unrelated to my earlier faux pas:
What do you think of this line:
Nami: I found… her obituary!
Victoria Cindry... You died... 10 years ago!!!Hogback: You... You fiends!! You went into that room?!!
Cindry-chan...!!
Samurai Ryuma!!
Send these fools to the land of shadows, right now!!Was Hogback trying to say "Cindry and ryuma, go attack them?"
Or was it "Cindry-chan…(I'll explain later/don't listen to them/you weren't supposed to learn about that). Ryuma go attack them!"
It only matters because on the one hand, cindry is a fighter as well and we should expect her to be powerful and get a good duel. On the other, well cindry has been tricked that she was a servant girl who died for breaking plates.
The other item of note from that exchange is that Hogback apparently can't fight in his current state. If he was a monster like the other generals, he would have just attacked them himself instead of telling one of his companions to do so.
Okay, I double checked this tim.

That sounds interesting. But looking at the panels it clearly shows Hogback signaling both Cindry and Ryuma to attack them. Cindry holding a bunch of plates ready to be thrown further proves this. Also, Cindry didn't look affected at all when she heard Nami saying that. Her hatred for plates is curious though now that we know who she was and how she died. The story could be true actually. A famous actress should have no problem getting a nobleman fiancee. Maybe she did in fact break those plates and her depression caused her to get into that accident and die.
Looking at Hogback though, he really doesn't look like a fighter. And I want to know what is his infatuation with her.

its 4v4 soon with luffy, zoro, franky and robin fighting the 4 resurrected generals….
it so shouts out that luffy will fight the big guy, and robin the 4 armed one with pistols.... it soooo shows them
awesome chapter... loved the dancing zombies!

there are 5

Stating your opinion is one thing. But making wrapping your opinion in something that might look like a constructive critique while it definitely is lacking any common sense of the matter is a totally different matter.
Then you didn't read my post correctly.
If you say, "I find Franky boring" then its fine.
And another chapter were Franky bores me.
But if you try to find elaborate reasons for why he doesn´t his interactions are not good with the Strawhats, what consequently make him look out of place in that crew by that logic then it is totally fals from a logic point of view.
Franky doesn't interest me, bores me, and hasn't matched up to the other Strawhats in terms of how their characters appeal to me.
Neither I nor anyone else here has the right to tell you when to get bored or when not. But don´t make the characters overall portrayal overall bad just because can´t warm up for it. It´s childish.
I can't say that I hate him?
Folks, let me clear something up. I don't have an ego, and I don't believe that every single one of my beliefs is fact. So please, please, please stop concluding that I'm stating my opinions as facts.
And that is that.
-
@Pass:
Then you didn't read my post correctly.
Oh trust me I did read it correctly. Perhaps you´re not aware of what the words you used actually really mean.
I can't say that I hate him?
This shows me that you are the one who doesn´t get what has been said to him. I said that you can feel free to like and dislike whoever you want to and that we are in no position to tell you any different.
BUT what you do is writing explenations why his character is lacking interaction with the crew and seems out of place while the arguments you bring simply are false and everybody besides you sees it.
Folks, let me clear something up. I don't have an ego, and I don't believe that every single one of my beliefs is fact. So please, please, please stop concluding that I'm stating my opinions as facts.
And that is that.
The sole fact that everybody besides you gets it this way should actually get your bells ringing that you might not have explained that matter as you thought you did.
-
BUT what you do is writing explenations why his character is lacking interaction with the crew and seems out of place while the arguments you bring simply are false and everybody besides you sees it.
Oh for the love of Zoidberg. No, What I did was write explanations for my personal preferences.
Sorry, but I'm not going to type "But that's just my personal preference" everytime I post a personal preference, especially when it's very obvious that it was a personal preference. See? Aren't you a little tired of reading the words personal preference in this post?
Okay, would it help if I said I was sorry that I didn't get the right message across?
Get used to that, Ivotas. I'm not good at finding the absolute best words to get my messages across. -
There´s no need to freak out like a kid, it only shows how premature you are. If you can´t cope with the consequences of your doing then just remain silent and don´t cry around how everybody is getting back at you. Period.
-

….. Everyone getting back at me?
Jeez. Did I run over your dog or something? Chill, you don't need to admonish me. I'm not freaking out. And not being able to deal with the consequences of my doing? Hey, I didn't get the right message across, so I'm trying to fix that rather than saying it's perfect.
Can we just end this? Franky bores me, he hasn't reached the standards of what I like in a character, and I'm personally not feeling the same 'oomph' in him that the other Strawhats give off to me. And I'm not saying that those are facts, they are just how I personally feel about him. And that, my friend, is all I've been saying this whole time. I'm sorry that I didn't get my message across correctly.
-
wow great chapter!
I kinda wish I read wanted so that I'd know who ryuuma is…
if he had green hair..he'd pass to be zoro's father XD -
@Pass:
….. Everyone getting back at me
Just in case you didn´t notice, all the "Zoro uses a sword he´s lame" etc. comments are sarcastic comments in regards to your "elaborations". And yes we can end it, you seem to be lacking what it takes to understand what´s been said anyways. Say hello to my igno list.
-
Judging from what the surprise zombies said, I'd say the plan is to separate the Strawhats even further.
Oh yeah, and 4 zombie generals+Ryuuma (also a zombie general)+Absalom+Perona+Moria=8. Just a thought.
-
Throw Hogback, Hildon, and Cindry into the mix, then add all the zombies. That makes the mugiwaras grossly outnumbed! Oh, wait, this already happened at Enies Lobby. They'll be fine.
-

You forgot Cindry, which makes it to 9x8 SHs+Brooke.
I still think Cindry WILL fight. No matter how strong she is, or if she is good or bad. All that can come in the middle, or after the match. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Cindry is this arc's key character.
-

Of course, ants can't win against dinosaurs.
Anyways nothing really progressed in this chapter, Samurai Ryuma and his technique was really the only exciting thing to have happened.
-

Ah. Well, I thought when you said everyone, you meant pretty much every single person reading this felt the same way.
Yes, I understand. It's because my reasons are illogical?
Well, Ivotas, I'm not one who's afraid to swallow my pride. I'm sorry. I was wrong. I take back my elaborations. And I'm sorry if I came off as a jerk.
However, Franky's general attitude in the things I listed do bore me. But I guess I just can't explain why then.
-
Franky really hasn't given himself an identity this arc yet
-
Franky doesn't need to, he did that at Enies Lobby.
-
yeah I mean comeon
hes SUPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
-
Yeah, you're free to hate Franky, but the expectations given here are too high.
He's been given as much exposure and time as the rest of the crew. He's been in two jokes scenes and was the in the center of the "6 billion jackpot" with Luffy. Asking for more screentime for Franky would be like making him the star character of the arc or something, since he's been in every scene with Luffy, Zoro, Saniji, and Robin. Right now, Usopp and co are the main characters of this arc; a role which should change to Luffy and co soon now that they've been knocked out (hey, is that a "Psycho" throwback?).
So Rootbeer, I assume that no one hates you or wants you to love Franky. We just hate your reasoning. It you just left it at "Franky bores me" then you'd be fine.
-
I smell a technical RuroKenesque sword fight.
Cool chapter, can't wait to see Absalom and co. in action.
-
Oda just won't stop adding things! I smell an Ennis Lobby…
"Well slap me silly if it ain't THREE MORE CP9 AGENTS??"
"OH SNAP! Giant gatekeepers!"
"Holy crap, ninjas riding dogs!"
"WHOA! Weird S&M pirate... jurymen... guys!!"
"D'oh! A three-headed judge!"
"Not an ELEPHANT sword?!"
"BUSTER CALL!!!"
Remember that? Now it's more like this:
"A talking skeleton!"
"Ghosts!"
"Three-headed dog? A vampire? Zombies?"
"Invisible guy!"
"Ohhh, Doktor Hogback, he's the villain."
"Huh? Who the futch is Gecko Moria?"
"Zombie furniture… RUN AWAY!"
"Ghost PRINCESS??"
"SAMURAI! GIANT ZOMBIE WARRIORS!!" -
Haha, that is why it is so fun :D Ya never know WHAT is going to happen, except something funny :p
-
So Rootbeer, I assume that no one hates you or wants you to love Franky. We just hate your reasoning. It you just left it at "Franky bores me" then you'd be fine.
Mmm-hmm?
Well, I think I figured it out. I was thinking that opinions on a characters' worth were decided by personal preferences, not logic.
Oda just won't stop adding things! I smell an Ennis Lobby…

"SAMURAI! GIANT ZOMBIE WARRIORS!!"Welp, we're in the new age. We're in territory of pirates that are more like armies. Did you expect another 6-man crew of extraordinarily gifted people?
-
Oh, I'm not really complaining… I enjoy it. It just reminds me of Ennis Lobby.
-
Personally, Franky slamming the two Zombies' heads together while saying "YES" in English was the highlight of the chapter for me. And I loved the face he made right before he did it.
I think the little things were what made this chapter great.
-
Anyway, it was a surprise to see Oda reference his work in Wanted! And I think Shaggy, Scooby and Nami will be brought to Gecko as bait for Luffy since he specifically mentioned kicking someone's ass if something happened to the three of them, but I'll probably be proven wrong come next chapter.
Sanji and Usopoop smell.
-
This post is deleted!
-
The Zombie Generals and Ryuuma made it for me.
Ryuuma seems genuinely scary, unlike the slightly comical elements of the other major enemies. I think we may have found this arc's "badass" character. -

"SAMURAI! GIANT ZOMBIE WARRIORS!!"That's great. When you actually list it all out, you can't help but be amazed at how much STUFF Oda packs into this manga. There's even as many OH MY GOD! events between the buster call and meeting Brooke as you mention here(captain horde, merry, grandpa, coby & hemeppo, 1000 sunny, yami yami fruit, etc.)
Oh , and best moment in the chapter can not be debated. How can any franky supaness or undead swordsmen compare with DISCO ZOMBIE DANCE ROUTINE!
-
I believe we won't see Absalom fighting. By his reaction on chapters 446 and 447, he sounds more like a bossy coward like Jango and Spandam, and his only advantage on enemies are his invisible powers.

"SAMURAI! GIANT ZOMBIE WARRIORS!!"I think the difference between this and Eneis Lobby is that Oda is still essentially building the island bit by bit and revealing what needs to be. Personally I think a lot of the stuff prior to the SHs reunions with Robin was unneeded (the dog brigade, the jurors), but Oda believed that all that stuff was to show the SH destroy as much as possible to show them as a legitimate threat in the eyes of the World Government. It would be enough to just stop CP9 as we saw them on W7 and the Sea Train, but my guess is that everything (including the filler stuff) was more to show the threat of the SH as they get closer to the New World and their infamy grows.
-
i cant wait for the animed zombie disco
i hope next chapter we find out how much moria worth and see more brooke.
i wonder whats so special about zombie gen. skin? -
Wow. Delayed OHKO Man is getting popular.

Yes. Also, logically, a head navy base would have various task forces employed.

…Why would a zombie need to drink booze? I just realized that.
-
@Impel:
…Why would a zombie need to drink booze? I just realized that.
The same reason why you would need to eat Ice Cream…Because they enjoy it.

I'm beginning to think Brook's reintroduction into this arc will be as the savior of the captured three. With that it would allow those three an opportunity to fight as well as be the reason that them and the rest of the skeptical Strawhats accept Brook as a nakama. Not to mention giving the three reluctant to fight the will and desire to do just that here for the sake of Brook.
