Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but there isn't a DMC thread here. I'm here to rectify the situation, if I may.

DMC is my favorite new franchise of the PS2/GC/XB generation. DMC 1 and 3 brilliantly combined intense, stylish, over-the-top action with incredible atmosphere, great character design, and a cool mythology. DMC 2 was a mistake, but 1 and 3 are two of the best 3D action games on any system.

I'm extremely stoked for DMC 4, even if it's on the PS3. The game's director has promised that DMC 4 will have a longer quest, more weapons, and more stylish action than ever before, and even those vague promises are enough to pique my interest. We know some bare-bones plot details about the game, and we've met the new protagonist (Nero) with his starting weapons (the sword Red Queen and the revolver Blue Rose), but that's about it.

So yeah, enough of Lazzie's rambling. Any other DMC fans in the house?

I like it, far from being my favorite franchise or anything, but props to Capcom for resurrecting an entire genre in 3D. Before DMC beat'em all games were dead and buried, and it's probably its success that gave us Ninja Gaiden and God of War later, so yeah… Bravo Capcom.

I hope they bring back the relentless enemy A.I from DMC1. That was the only thing that was wrong with DMC3. The enemies lacked varied movesets and their attacks were horribly telegraphed.

Anyways, DMC4 looks to be another awesome entry to the series. When that games hits the PS3, I'll finally buy the system. DMC is easily my most favorite of all the action titles out there.

DMC 1's AI was definitely worlds better than DMC 2's AI and a few notches better than DMC 3's AI, but DMC 3's enemies get noticeably smarter in later difficulties. If not smarter, then definitely less passive and more agressive, not to mention some new abilities and DT. However, All of the vids and demos we've seen of DMC 4 feature levels early in the game, so it's hard to make any judgements right now as to enemy AI or game difficulty in general.

In all of the preview info we've seen thus far, the game's director has stated that he wants the game's actual difficulty to be a step below DMC 3, with the greatest challenges contained in the game's higher difficulty settings.

DMC 3 is the hardest game i ever played. I finally beat it on normal a month ago. And I had the game since it came out. I had to use alot of green orbs and repeat so many levels to obtain the rubies to buy stuff. lol

that looks real good. It also seems like Dante is the villian in this one. You play as a guy name Nero. Dante has a little stubble, does that mean he is older?

Nero uses one hand swordstyle it looks like. And with one gun in the other hand.

DMC 4 is now getting a same-day release on the XBox 360. Just bring FF XIII and Shirokishi over, and I will never have a reason to buy a PS3.

Devil May Cry is easily one of my favorite game series. The second one was horrible but the first one was awsome and the third one just blew me away. My all time favorite game quote comes from that game but I can't post it due to the fact that I don't want to spoil it for people who havn't played the game.

A few days ago there was an article in Famitsu concerning DMC 4…. The following info is a quick bare-bones translation of the article's content, done by some guy on Gamefaqs:

Only the PS3 version will be featured in the preview
-Realtime Style Changing
-Dante playable
-New Snow Mountain area shown + new boss
-The Map is now present on screen in the bottom right hand corner

A "possible" new sword is being used in one the shots which maybe acclaimed from Variel, the firey boss from the gameplay footage
-DMC4 is multiplatform with simultaneous launch.
-Nero can also charge up his arm and release power along by grabbing enemies from a fair distance away with his arm
-The bottom picture looks like he's doing air dash, but seems like the name of the move is hellbound.

You can also charge up your weapon.

This is one of my favourite games nothing can beat it in gameplay, not even its highly playable clone gow. I think the first one was the best, the second one was poor and the 3rd was great. Apart from dante woo-ing like a gayboy all the time, I hope he get's his DMC1 attitude back.

One thing I hope they do with dmc4 is making a way so that you don't have to start the whole level over when you die.

I love DMC. Easy to pick up and play, rock solid to master. Pulling off combos makes you feel so awesome.

I like yelling "KING CRIMSON!" when I use Quicksilver. Then using the rapid-punch attack with Beowulf.

I loved the first, skipped the second, and still working on the third (stuck on the twin boss fight), which I think it currently my favorite of the series. I may just have to get a 360 after all for the upcoming one.

New vid for DMC4. Looks like they brought back the atmosphere and vicious AI from DMC1, but with the enhanced gameplay from DMC3. Also looks like Nero can grapple some bosses with his arm. Reminds a bit of GOW in that aspect.

This looks like it'll be my first PS3 game (I prefer the controller).

Wow, that arm is pretty badass. Are they going to have different styles like in part 3? I hope we would be able to change styles on the fly while in mid combo, that would be insane.

I'm considering this series. I notice at Wal-Mart they are selling something called "Devil May Cry: Collection" for currently $29.97. I presume this is the first 3 games, right?

Thing is, I'm not big on horror but I never really got a scary vibe from this game. I kinda got a "Legacy of Kain" vibe from it. Is this vibe correct?

It is not really a horror game. It is just a monster action game, like GOW.

DMC3 is a masterpiece. Those different fighting stlyes are fun to play through and the replay value of part 1 and 3 are insane.

It's the first two games and the special edition of the third game. For some reason the 3SE copy doesn't have the red GH border, so I went and bought it and traded in my previous three.

And yes, it does has sort of a Legacy of Kain vibe. Not a horror game, but an action game with some horror themes. And trust me, it's all about the action, not the horror.

And as people have stated earlier, 1 is great, 3 is probably greater, and 2 isn't worth playing. That's the gist of it.

Yeah, part 3 is a prequel. So basically, if you start with 3, you wouldnt miss any plot points at all.

I'd still recommend to start with 1. The Dante/Vergil relationship has more impact in 3 if you've played 1 first. 3 is better than 1, but 1 is a damn fine game by itself, and got excellent reviews all around when it was released back in 2001. However, if you have to play only one game in the entire series, play 3. Preferably the Special Edition of 3.
