People who ague for this thread forget that if you post your theory here it might goes under the heavy posts of others. Example: poster a: here is my theory. Then 10 other posters come with their theories and everyone who read this will say "oh no i don't have the time to answer them all". People might even not notice the good theories if they go under :(
That will not happen in an own thread for each theory. I mean in those threads you are oblige to stay on topic.
I will start the discussion: what are the criteria for a "groundbreaking" theory? -

I also think that luffy and hancock have or will have a connection.
Either she is really his mother or in some kind of connection to Dragon or she will become his fiance. I totally know that all this is only speculation until more details are given.First of Luffy has to impress Boa Hancock so that he can return with their ship.
Second Luffy has to have a final influence in Hancocks desicion to join or neglect the Whitebeard fight. I think the most probably way is that she becomes friend with luffy and then starts to give up her Shishibukai rank and becomes a normal pirate again.
She seems to have high ambitions, she lets herself call pirate empress, she looks so much down on others and now she has the same haki like luffy, the king haki. So after hearing Luffys name und Luffys ambition I can see her making a deal with him of becoming his wife after he becomes Pirateking to be PirateQueen. It is not bad, that her later husband cannot be turned in stone by her and does not fall that easy in love to her like the other men or women. Reasons Oda will give, either way, if she is his mother or will become his wife or Oda finds another way.….wow....roflmfao.....

Only because Luffy is somewhat familiar with Boa's secret mark, does not necessarily mean they have a deeper relation than is apparent. Why is it so hard to understand?
I am not saying thatit is impossible for Boa to be related to Luffy. All I am saying is that we should not jump to that conclusion based on Luffy's familiarity with the mark alone.

I thinking of Boa Hancock will be luffy's fiance
As seen in chapter 520, she's really crying out of emotion for heroic action of Luffy and probablly she may fall in love with luffy. The tear of love ^_^
Luffy is the only man that are not fall for her beauty and thus also the only man that she can love ^_^
It would be fun to see Hancock chasing after luffy and helping him become pirate king. (she's already a queen)

If she joined I see nacks and jokes on the crew because Luffy saw her naked, just like when Robin said Luffy done some things to her and it was time to take responible (meaning she saved her life when she choose death and not what Sanji thought). While this is…possible....but it seems pretty improbable.
For one thing, a tear of love? If Hancock fell in love with Luffy at the end of this chapter...wouldn't there be a better way to show it? There are only a few circumstances where one cries and is in love, and this doesn't feel like it.
Plus, One Piece's romance so far is a series of "lol marriage" jokes, like with the manly couple of Mr. and Mrs. Igaram. Frankly, at this point of the series any romance suggestions seem improbable.
And I'm more against Hancock joining the crew. She's already the captain of her own pirate crew, so why would she do that? She'd have to lose her crew and her position as empress first, and then she'd have to be convinced that Luffy's crew was a worthwhile one to join--which would be touch without them actually being there.

Okay, when did Oda become Rumiko Takahashi? I'm doubting that Boa will fall in love with Luffy and want to be his fiance ala Ranma and Shampoo (besides, he'd have to beat her personally, not her sisters). The only pros to that happening and her chasing after him would be: the whole crew's (especially Sanji and Brooke's) reaction to her, and the epic showdown between Alvida and Boa. Personally, I think that in a way, (pertaining to her tears) she is pissed and moved at the same time. She's pissed a man has bested her sisters yet she's moved that he's willing to protect their secret.

There has been love in One Piece, but not romance. When people get all hearty-eyed over each other, there's always a silly, unromantic reason (as Lola's marriage proposals), or they're in love with each others' appearance (Sanji, Absalom etc.)
