Yeah, seeing Clay Armor would be pretty neat. …...or a giant Clay Mech. Now that'd be sweet.
Decent chapter tho, although I feel Kishi is kinda stalling. Next week should be much better. Dying to see what Dei Dei has up his sleave.

I'm foggy on the details here, but wasn't Sasuke not around when Lee used his full speed? I would think that he'd need to train on his own to get this.
Kakashi used sharingan on Lee during his match with gaara and taught it to sasuke during thier little getaway in the mountains.

Yup. Sharingan is bullshit.
"Hey. Remember that thing called hard work? You don't need that in Narutoville."
I've lost count of the number of times I got pissed off reading Naruto. This manga has an uncanny ability to annoy you. Like you're reading it and you're telling yourself "Oh come on Kishimoto… No... He won't dare... He's not going to do it GOD FUCKING DAMNIT HE DID IT" then you're pondering how you'd have handled the situation and always come to the same conclusion: you'd have done better.
A five year-old can think of a better technique than: "MY EYES COPY YOUR POWERS"
Seen better abilities on Saturday morning cartoons.
Yeah I was super mad on that cheap excuse for Sasuke getting Lee's speed and taijutsu because Kakashi copied it. I mean…WHAT ELSE DOES LEE HAVE IN A FIGHT? So after that, Sasuke is Lee+Kishimoto love and all his other XTREME JUTSU. Lee became 100% obselete. Naruto teaches you that no matter how hard you work, an annoying pretty boy will always outclass you with genetics.
Anyhoo off that rant, I wonder how a fight between Uuber Sasuke and Itachi would go now.
Well, going by the flashback, Sasuke would be yet again bitchslapped by Itachi. Seeing how quickly Itachi beat Deidara and how Sasuke is having difficulty with Dei.
After reading the translation it made me realize even more how entertaining Deidara was and how infuriated I'd be if he really ended up killed by Sasuke. If it happens I'm honestly considering travelling to Japan to smudge the walls of Kishimoto's house with insults written with my feces.
That's nasty Aldrich, for shame. But the question is, where does Kishi live? And how will you get past his Ninja Defence Security?
Wow, Shippuuden 18 did break all records of draggy. Gai doing random noises for a minute or so was unbelievable.
Kakashi used sharingan on Lee during his match with gaara
He never says that. Sasuke imagined Lee's movements and copied them.

If you're right, then that means that Sasuke didn't use the sharingan to learn the speed, but rather learned it and trained to get it with Kakashi's help. Which, would mean that Sasuke worked for it just like anyone else.
@Geg:
He never says that. Sasuke imagined Lee's movements and copied them.
And if you're right, then, Sasuke can…learn jutsu by imagining them.
Huh, I going back to read the chapter would help, but I just don't feel like reading Naruto right now...
Edit: whoops, I forgot to read the scans in taboo's post. It looks like Sasuke did use the sharingan to learn speed.
Well, that kind of sucks, and it pisses on Lee's hard work, though I think Sasuke did have to train to learn the taijutsu.
Huh, I going back to read the chapter would help, but I just don't feel like reading Naruto right now…
I know how you feel. I've felt that way for about the past 5 months.
And if you're right, then, Sasuke can…learn jutsu by imagining them.
Isn't that what a Sharingan does? It imagines a jutsu that it's seen before and copies it. It's been that way since Kakashi first used it. I think that's just the more techinal way of saying "it copies what you do".
my only consolation of that fight was that it was much more shit-ily animated
I think that's just the more techinal way of saying "it copies what you do".
I imagine that's why Kakashi was called the 'copycat ninja'. Has he done anything besides chidori that would make him a great ninja in his own right without the use of sharingan?
I know how you feel. I've felt that way for about the past 5 months.
I've been pretty much ignoring the manga since the start of June and I can't say I've lost any sleep over it. on the contrary-
Kakashi even stated something about not being good at anything before receiving his Sharingan. Something about not excelling at any specific thing.
Basically, Kakashi had no talent to begin with, and his only 'talent' now is copying techniques from other people.
The no talent that made him become a chuunin at the age of 6 and a jounin at 13?
Could just be faulty memory. S'been a long time since reading the early stages of Naruto.
@Geg:
The no talent that made him become a chuunin at the age of 6 and a jounin at 13?
He blew the right people.
Naruto's supposed to be a loser… But also one of the strongest shinobis of the Leaf! He has more potential than the 4th! But he fails many times... Yet he never stops trying! Despite surpassing Kakashi! It doesn't make any sense anymore. And it doesn't have to, people still eat up this shit as if it was caviar.
Probably the only thing that Kakashi did of any merit other than gaining the Sharingan was Chidori/Raikiri, and that wasn't even "complete" until he got the Sharingan. Thus outside his signature, all he became known for was being a guy who used an Uchiha signature technique without being an Uchiha. Probably that's only impressive for anyone not in Konoha…
Like I said before, Kakashi is more or less just a human plot device. He'll show up to save people, give off a Chidori or two, maybe some wacky Sharingan antics, and then be crippled for 5 weeks. And then lead someone through SUPER TRAINING
Oh well, Deidara is going to die.
Proof:
His robe came off.
Whenever an akatsuki loses his robe, he dies.
When they don't, they live.
FACT.
Edit: I was ok with he sasuke thing because he didn't have the stamina to keep up with the speed as long as Lee, and Lee would have still won in a real fight since his eyes, as we see later, couldn't keep up with speed like that.

Well, in its defense, neither did dragonaball(in waht is Z) and I mean, it's like 15 years later.
Naruto is my guilty pleasure. I know it's bad, but I don't try to make sense of it anymore. I just accept that it sucks and read it in anticipation of the next Narutimate Hero.
and I am enjoying this fight.
I used to think like that as well until I just got tired of it… Not too sure what was the thing that sealed the deal for me. Probably chap 340 + 15 Sasuke centered chapters in a row and Team Snake.
I haven't gotten a scanlated chapter of Naruto since Gaara was revived, its been so simplistic that spoilers and the ocasional raw have been needed

Imo, that is more troublesome than getting the scanlated chapter.

Thats where you an me differ. I don't think sasuke is that bad. I may go so far as to say I like the guy even. SO I semi-enjoyed those chapters.(dragged too much for my tastes tho at some points.)
when kakuzu turned into a tenta-rape monster is when I was about to jump ship, but I think I had quit bleach at that time too(bringing Kaien back and shit) so I stuck with what I thought at the time was the lesser of two evils.(needed something else to read weekly besides One piece and grayman)
What happened in chapter 340 tho?(too lazy to go check)
Well, in its defense, neither did dragonaball(in waht is Z) and I mean, it's like 15 years later.
The difference is that Naruto actually takes itself seriously.
That, and Dragonball is an older manga. You can't compare new manga to old manga.
Because Naruto, at this point, has no excuse for what it does.
@Cyringohn:

And low and behold, neither does Bleach. And yet, not nearly enough criticism as Naruto gets. Double Standard perhaps? You the viewers decide.
I don't think Bleach is in nearly the same boat as naruto.
As in, all characters are still characters, not powers with names. No one is left completely uninvolved or unrelated with the conflict at hand, like everyone who isn't team 7 in naruto.
and it just seems like the characters in bleach are fighting on a bigger scale than in naruto. The lack of a living world isn't as bad in Bleach because we are to believe that soul society and hueco mundo are the strongest of the strong in the world. It's on a larger scale that having a living world really isn't necessary.
Naruto is set in a world of ninjas, and the main characters are supposed to be ordinary ones in it. Being set on a smaller scale, it the lack of a world outside the main characters is more noticeable, because their conflicts aren't that big in terms of a world(Sasuke's revenge will not effect the surrounding countries at all)

and again, it is freaking 15 YEARS LATER!. I don't think one piece will be a timeless classic like dbz, but I don't see a problem with a series like dragonball(interms of having no purpose) being popular in it's own era.
and just because it was old doesn't change the fact that there were alot of other better series that got no attention back then because they lived in the shadow of dragonball, just like naruto today.
People are afraid to criticize older stuff because its old. Like people claiming cartoons were better in the good ol' days and music was better, when it really isn't sometimes.
Like the Thundercats. They looked gay. They really do. but because they are old, they are great.
why dont people like the same things I do

Riight, copy and pasting the entire previous arc (allegedly) isn't nearly as bad as Naruto. But ofcourse, I'm not far so I don't know if these allegations are true.
And the question isn't "why don't people like the same things I do" it's rather, "why the double standard?" How a series with supposedly no plot, copy/paste arcs, and repetitive fight with the sole saving grave of "cool characters" can be criticized less than an also (less) sucky series is beyond me.
Somebody explain this concept so that my infantile mind can grasp the logic. $5 says I don't get a straight answer.
As in, all characters are still characters, not powers with names. No one is left completely uninvolved or unrelated with the conflict at hand, like everyone who isn't team 7 in naruto.
Ugh, stop exaggerating stuff like that. Other characters are still used.
Like the Thundercats. They looked gay. They really do. but because they are old, they are great.
Off-topic, but since someone brought up Thundercats, I have to finally say it. Aldrich's avatar always reminds me of Lion-O:
Everybody knows that Bleach has no plot. People don't bust on Bleach as much because they tend to like the characters and the swords. What little 'plot' there is in Bleach is just there so two people will beat on each other with swords, and Kubo, as well as the fans, seem to realize that.
That, and for every shitty Bleach character, there's at least one that looks neat. Kubo's designs either really suck or are really interesting.
Naruto takes itself completely seriously and attempts to create a plot, yet fails. It would literally be a whole new manga if the Uchiha clan didn't exist.
And the Thundercats didn't look 'gay'. The designers simply didn't resort to using traditional anime bullshit designs, with bishounen fuckshits running around.
Last time I checked, Naruto didn't have the biggest of plots either since it's beginning and we've all been reading Naruto before Bleach was around. We all at this point should know that Kishi whores out Uchihas and isn't that great a story teller. Like Kubo, all the other crap is to set up fights too. I see no difference there.
But I guess you're right tho, must be the cool characters. I recall being a sucker for cool characters at one point in time, I believe I was 10.
Ugh, stop exaggerating stuff like that. Other characters are still used.
but what is their relevance to the conflict at hand? Nothing. Kiba, shino and hinata have no relevance at all but battle support. Hence me calling them "powers with names".
Only reason shika had plot involvement was because kishimoto killed asuma. I guess he felt the need to do that, but I really don't see the arc being any different if he didn't kill him.

First off, I'm a bigger fan of naruto characters than bleach characters. 2nd off, saying bleach has no plot is like saying naruto had no plot for the 10+ weeks sakura fought sasori. You really can't judge series during fighting. Bleach's main problem is pacing. Chad didn't need a whole chapter to talk about his new arm, and ichigo didn't need a whole 2 chapters to figure out that he can't charge into the enemies stronghold holding back.
That, and for every shitty Bleach character, there's at least one that looks neat. Kubo's designs either really suck or are really interesting.
Ok? Have no idea why you said this but w/e.
I will say though that Bleach's art in general is greater than naruto's. especially with kishimoto being lazy as fuck. (hand to hand combat is played off by blurs or whatever. Can't even tell what happened. Most recent example is when naruto rushed Kabuto. What the hell did he do?)
Naruto takes itself completely seriously and attempts to create a plot, yet fails. It would literally be a whole new manga if the Uchiha clan didn't exist.
If the uchiha clan didn't exist, it'd have no point after the chuunin exams.
Nothing wrong with the clan, just too much focus is put on the naruto characters in general. Doesn't work as well when they are portrayed to be small fry's in the big picture.
Like Kazekage. Killed by kimimaro, who was evenly matched with Lee and garaa because they were fucking lee and garaa.
Bleach is a character-driven manga. The only reason people read it is because they like one or more of the characters. Nobody reads Bleach to learn more about the Soul Society or how the Bleach world works. They read it to see <character>fight <character>.
Naruto attempts to be plot-driven. Most of the secondary characters are ignored, have had only one fight, and/or aren't developed at all. Naruto attempts to tell its story through the main characters, yet fails utterly since those characters are ridiculously strong and barely have any form of conflict. The 'fights' are almost always one-sided, with the stronger person easily winning or suddenly losing in some insanely bizarre twist is pulled out of Kishimoto's ass, as in Naruto vs. Neji. HOLY SHIT KYUUBI CHAKRA IGNORES ALL RULES</character></character>

Funny, you basically just described Bleach in your entire post. Replace Naruto and Neji with Ichigo and Grimmjow, and Kyuubi with Bankai, Shikai or whatever and there you go. Good job.
Sure, I'm a not-so-closet Naruto fanboy, but that was rediculous. Praising Bleach for the same things that Naruto is bashed for.
And how is Kyuubi a plot twist? We've known about it since the first chapter.
Gohn doesn't 'praise Bleach.' Fucking hate Bleach.
However, at least Bleach knows how to involve the characters in battles. Nobody that reads Bleach sits there and thinks: "Chad and Uryu never get any new abilities and never fights anybody." However, Naruto readers do go: "Tenten, Choji, Ino, and Kiba never fight anybody."
Naruto has too many fucking 'good guy' characters that literally sit around and do nothing. Bleach, like One Piece, has a central core of characters that still actually do things, while Naruto is fuckin' determined that 14-15 chapters of nothing but Sasuke is a good thing.
And who said anything about Kyuubi being a 'plot twist'? Gohn said that it was a 'bizarre twist to end the fight', as in: Hey? Remember how Neji blocked all of Naruto's chakra points and he shouldn't be able to use chakra? Well, fuck that. Kyuubi Chakra Bullshit Time! HOORAY FOR NARUTO WINNING ONLY BECAUSE HE HAS KYUUBI
Poor Naruto. It must be difficult to know that most of your accomplishments aren't earned, but cheaply gained by a demon living inside of you. Must be hard on the poor boy.
Bah. Reading Naruto is like an abusive relationship. He keeps dissapointing you, hurting you, and alienating you, yet you come back for more, hoping that he'll change one day, even though you know it will never happen.

From what I hear, Chad and Ishida are jobers . And no sane person cares about Ino or TenTen in the least.
And going from Kishi's pattern, each squad that isn't Team 7 gets their own little arc to fight. Kishi's rotates them out each arc kinda like JLU episodes. I recall the rookie 9 actually doing something with the exception of Ino and Chouji the cheerleaders. The current arc isn't over yet, so the jury's still out on the Shino gang.
How is Kyuubi a bizarre twist again? Like I said, we knew well in advance about it. Plus, it's the strongest being in the series to date, so ofcourse it's ubber hax. But it's not pulled from nowhere. Hooray for Ichigo winning because of Bankai level 30.
You arguing for the naruto side is more damage than any point Cyringohn can make.
and people seem to care about all the characters except chouji(only rookie not to make top 30 in character poll). So again, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Fighting =/= development

For one, it breaking open sealed chakra cores wasn't a twist. More like a stupid way to pull victory out of his ass. It especially defeated the purpose of naruto's point. (a no-talent ninja beating a genius) since he won because of his fox, but in actuality, got his no-talent ninja ass kicked hard.
And Hooray for criticizing series you've never seen. I think Ichigo has gotten more ass kickings than wins lately.

Gohn cares about Tenten. She has no bullshit powers, uses actual skill, and focuses on weaponry in a world where people shoot chii from their ass crack.
You keep making it out like somebody claimed that Bleach doesn't have overpowered shit in it. Nobody with self-respect actually likes Ichigo.
As for Kyuubi, Kishimoto could have just, you know, made it so that Naruto didn't use Kyuubi in that fight. The problem was that he wrote himself into a corner, since there's absolutely no way that Naruto could defeat Neji of his own skill. When you get to a point where you need your character to have some ridiculous power-up to instantly win a fight, something is wrong with your story. That, and the fact that Neji was downed in a single punch was nonsense.
And I will say, I still like Bleach, and Ichigo isn't as bad as Naruto. Atleast he knows how to use his power wilingly.
Can't argue with you there Gohn. Being defeated in a single punch was awful. I can't deny there there is indeed Jobber Aura surrounding Naruto.
@tony-kun: I don't recall ever being in any sort of discussion with you. But since we are now, tell what I am wrong about. Believe me, I'm sure I probably missed somethig seeing as my eyes are becoming heavy. How exactly am I killing my own argument?

Ima go and apply real life human physics to that. neji took a shot on the chin, which most people know from boxing, or more commonly, hajime no ippo, throws off your equilibrium, so you get KOed(can't get up before 10 count) without being unconscious.
@tony-kun: I don't recall ever being in any sort of discussion with you. But since we are now, tell what I am wrong about. Believe me, I'm sure I probably missed somethig seeing as my eyes are becoming heavy so I may just learn something.
For one, you project your own views as those of the entire naruto fanbase(Liking tenten is crazy, but liking the equally undeveloped and useless shino is perfectly acceptable)
and 2nd, you see the other main characters appearing for fights in each arc as acceptable development and usage of characters….when it isn't.
I mean atleast in bleach, you can imagine offscreen characters doing something useful or relevant to the plot. With naruto, not so much. As far as we know, they are just watching tv until kishimoto pulls them off the bench again.
Hell, most of the characters IN the arc aren't doing anything relevant to the plot besides fighting along team 7.
Seems like a catfight has broken out.
Naruto obviously won with his own skill. The problem is that Kishi fucked up and made the skill that Naruto learned during his training with Jiraya also a natural ability that only Naruto had. Naruto mastering the Kyuubi in that fight was the same thing as Neji mastering his Byakugan.
Of course, Neji also pwned himself by constantly saying "you can't change destinry, you''ll lose to me!" ….the little punk.
