Have you ever noticed most of the One Piece arcs kick off with something outrageous happening?
Seeing the new arc has kicked off with the meeting of the living skeleton, Brook, I thought it would be fun to remember the other outrageous starts to the pasts arcs!
My fav one is the beginning of the Skypiea arc where the ship fell down on them! lol
Well, it's quite a transition from every fan girl in the world screaming:
"NO! ACE-KUN!", to everyone saying:
"BROOOOOOOOOOKE FUNNY-BOOOOOONES!"
So I'd say yes.
How about the crew being swallowed up by Laboon just after they entered the grandline? Thats how BW saga started.

Well, Foxy was a pretty crazy arc starter, but he appeared a little after the start.
Well, Oda's good points are his climaxes and WTF moments. I'd say every single one of them is amazing, leave alone saga starters.

The WTF moment in Lougetown was when Zoro met Tashigi. Another good one is when they arrive in White Sea and soon are attacked by Wiper and then saved by Gan Fall.
But that wasn't the immideate starter. Oh, and we forgot the craziest (maybe 2nd, after Brooke) arc starter of all, Garp!
One of the most surprising ones was the crew almost getting hit by the Puffing Tom at the beginning of Water 7. That, and the fact that something unique like a sea train is in the One Piece world.
Aw man, if we had Sea Trains in real life, that'd be pretty cool.
The entire crew almost getting raped by a Shandian raider, and then meeting Gan Fall.

No. It isn't a Sea Train. When I say Sea Train, I mean exactly like the real thing. Built my a fishman, rides to a huge Government island, has a crazy chef on board, full of pirate/marine fights. I'd pay like $25 to ride that!
Craziest arc starter was Luffy being half-eaten by a bird.
my vote goes to the ship falling on them to start off the skypeia arc. That shit was just awesome.
