fleet admiral sengoku will be the next nakama
The next new Nakama? Part 2
-
-
I believe Hachin will be the next Straw Hat nakama. He seemed to have the "straw hat attitude" way back in the Arlong Park Arc, and he even briefly befriended Zoro (before attacking him with a bunch of swords >_>)
I think since Yami has essentially forgiven him and since the Straw Hats saved Caimee, Hachin will feel obligated to join the crew.
Oda is making a pretty obvious attempt to "diversify" the crew, so I think a Fishman is the next logical choice for a straw hat nakama. I don't think it will Caimee because I am not confident in her fighting abilities, and because she has already stated her dream.
Hachin however is a fighter, has the comedic relief expected in a Straw Hat member, and most importantly, has the heart required to be a straw hat member. He also brings something unique to the crew, so he can help without being a hindrance (unlike Caimee).
-
Good point what's his dream though
that's pretty much the only requirement to be a SH -
I can't remember his dream being explained yet, so I can only hope some dramatic event either in the current situation or on Fishman Island will cause him to reveal his dream to everyone.
I personally hope it is something dramatic (albeit cheesy) like Hachin wishing to close the racial gap between Humans and Merfolk :P

how the hell is he supposed to achieved that
how about position? -
how the hell is he supposed to achieved that
how about position?I'm actually thinking Hacchan might be the next nakama, though the possibility for me is low. You've asked Aldaron42 on what will be his dream, and Aldaron replied something about abolishing the racial discrimination against the Fishmen and Merfolk. I'm actually thinking the same. Now for your question:
how can that dream be achieved?
-I only have a theory for this one. Hacchan may know something about what happened during the Blank Century. Maybe it's LEGEND of Merfolk and Fishmen saving the entire human population from a catastrophic event. The problem is that no human will believe such legend because there's no available proof. So Hacchan dreams of getting the proof, and that proof can be found along with the True History Rayleigh and Robin were talking about in the latest chapters. I think Oda will need to settle that discrimination before he end the OP series.what will be his position?
-just like what I've said earlier in this thread, the SH doesn't have an expert diver yet. I think a diver or frogman position makes sense for the SH.But others pointed out earlier in this thread too that the SH can't have 3 swordsman. That makes me think the possibility of Hacchan being the new nakama low.
-
Not sure lol it's just a fanboyish dream of mine ;D
Position is interesting point though. It does seem rather anti-Straw Hat to strive for stereotypical position in the world, but that would poetically fit if the dull minded Fishman Hachin strove to achieve political success in the human world to bridge the gap.
Comon Oda, fulfill this dream!
Estarapapax posted right before I did, so I'll edit in my response here.
That's an interesting point about the Void Century, and one that I didn't think about. Good catch. There is certainly the possibility that the Merfolk know something about the True History that the humans do not. I also agree that Oda will at the very least address this discrimination issue before ending One Piece.
Also, I agree with his position as a prospective diver, as the SH crew definitely needs one.
What I do not agree with is the idea that the crew cannot have 3 swordsmen. Why not? I mean, as long as he brings something unique to his fighting style, who cares what his weapons are?
Also, there is always the possibility that he might have a unique weapon better suited for his 8 arms, and it simply hasn't been revealed yet. Admittedly this stretching quite a bit, but the possibility remains nevertheless.
-
So kind of like the Liar Norland issue only at a much grander scale?:wassat:
Don't want it to be haccan though, looks like he has a good thing going in the takoyaki shop with Caimie and the other octopus girl. I'm still pushing for a merman with a weird variation of merman boxing that or a ninja who can't use smokescreens cause he has asthma:ninja:
-
Next Crewmate will be a girl.
-
What does Robin call Franky and Brook btw? Has she given them any nickname like she haas the rest of the strawhats?
(for some reason I feel this is related to the next "nakama" thread.)
-
Since they pretty much joined after she bonded with the crew I don't think she has any apathetic Mr. titles for them.
-
Does she even use those nicknames anymore? I don't recollect her ever using them after the EL arc. Bah, I find out later.
I wouldn't mind another girl joining, but I doubt Oda will add another powerhouse person. Although I have to admit that if another girl joins, she will either be a powerhouse/ specialized in some technique, have a devil fruit, or be as weak as Nami and Usopp. At this point, I will be happy with just guessing correctly who will be the next nakama.
-
You know what lowers the chance of any fishman or memaid joining anytime soon? They just got the Sunny which has a submarine on it. I kind of want a mermaid to join, but honestly it completely defeats the point of Oda introducing the sub and having them use it 1 time. Though I admit, there have been similar cases. Waver -Cough.-
-
Well the sub has a pretty weak limit. So you might see a Fishman crewmate that can go deeper.
-
I don't see it until a bit later though.
-
Like after the SH leave Fishman Island?
-
I thought Hacchi's dream was to open his own takoyaki stand, a dream that he achieved during his coverstory. Moreover, he's pretty much done everything he promised to help the Straw Hats with i.e., finding Raleigh. The only other consideration is that he and Camie promised to help guide them to Fishman Island. After that, all obligations to them end, though their friendship is probably cemented from here on out.
-
That is correct that Hacchi's dream was to open his own takoyaki stand.
-
hacchi wont join his dream is to own a takoyaki stand and he wants to protect camie and camie wont join her name sounds to much like namie im stil for a giant that has a devils fruit that alows them to cahnge size
-
how about the octopus woman on the cover story?
-
I'd prefer a mako shark Fishman with Fishman Karate, since we don't really have a traditional martial arts fighter yet. The closest to that are Luffy and Sanji, and their fighting styles are anything but traditional.
-
o, I must have missed the part about Hachin's dream. It was really just to open a stand? Too bad.
I guess that crosses off Hachin and Camie from the list, but I'm almost 100% positive we are going to see a Fishman become the next Straw Hat nakama.
Going along with the idea of crew parallels, we see that Blackbeard's crew has a wrestler. I am going to concur that the Straw Hats need some sort of hand to hand martial artist (not necessarily a grappler just hand to hand combat), and the Fishman Karate would be an obvious choice.
Hopefully whatever adventure they have on Fishman Island results in the 10th nakama…a Fishman Karate expert!
-
I was thought of Franky as hand ta hand guy..I mean he went boxin style against Fukurou..so maybe we'll see boxing against wrestling?..
I agree on ya that ta next crew should be from Fishman Island..hopefully Brook and maybe Franky get some more screen before that though..
-
camie wont join her name sounds to much like nami
It doesn't SOUND like Nami, though xD
And furthermore, Camie would be the first female nakama of the Straw Hats without any name beginning with "N" (the others = Nami, Nico and Nefertari) -
I think male and female doesn't matter, right now. Keep in mind the fish tank on the ship, for those mer-person favoring people. ;)
…I think it'll be impossible for them to find a crewmember in the Shabondy Arc. First of all, this arc is set up to be a fighting arc, making crewmembers stronger, and showing off fighting skills like Usopp's (he's gotten better), Franky's (Seen only a little), and ESPECIALLY Brook's, as he's the newest and we haven't seen NEAR enough of his fighting. I couln't give you an estimate of how strong he is at all. I don't know much at all.
Besides, Oda is very good at making everything feel natural. After the Thriller Bark arc, I wanted them to relax and not fight. So Oda squished in the Archipelago arc, which had fighting, but no really serious battles. Now I'm ready for the action, and here it is! At the beginning of the next arc, we can see if a new crew member would /feel/ right.
-
Has anybody thought that maybe the next crew member should be a logia user cause then the crew have a person from each devil fruit type ( just putting it out there)
-
@Shaman:
Has anybody thought that maybe the next crew member should be a logia user cause then the crew have a person from each devil fruit type ( just putting it out there)
If, and I say if because I have already stated my opinions otherwise, this happens I would hope that it is the most ridiculous and bogus logia there can possibly be…so that he/she is not totally broken.
-
why? all the other logias are are strong except honey queen but that was a one piece movie and a waste of a good logia type fruit
-
@Shaman:

Simply because it wouldn't be much of a challenge for logia crewmember to support the SHP in the New World if he/she were just a broken super power. It just wouldn't fit the crew….to me. But were it some retarded power that doesn't even make much sense...then maybe someone can think of a creative and only semi-powerful logia...? But even then it is hard to say, because they are somewhat invulnerable still.
-
ok how do you think about a plant logia user since its just plants which is strong but could also be weak and he/she could be human or merman geographer thats just my take on a logia crew member
-
@Shaman:
ok how do you think about a plant logia user
Perhaps. That would be useful to Chopper because the user could make herbs. lol.
-
i could imagine him rooting into the ground and sleeping with nami's orange trees and waiting to be watered XP

XD

Uh, I heard that giant thing happened in a filler arc.
Anyways, when the crew goes to fishman island, the next crew member will be made clear. We'll have that this-person-is-going-to-join feeling in our gut.
-
has anyone ever guessed the next new nakama where it wasn't totally obv like with brook.
-
its hard to find a possible member that isnt obviouse cause people would suspect that person will be in the crew im not surprised if someone said a rock is going to be in the crew
-
for a giant that has a devils fruit that allows them to change size
This would be cool IMO. For me, it would be extra cool if his original strength and whatnot at full, normal, giant size was condensed when he shrinks to the average human size ~~ giving him a speed and strength boost like Ichigo's ban kai. (lool).
-
Indeed, that would be cool, but, filler kills.
-
Yeah, it's too bad about that. Ergh. That would be so cool…
...but without that, I don't see how a giant will be their nakama. Alas. Still, fish/mer person would be cool! And I'm sure they'll find someone neat in the New World. The last member needs to be special... Like... it needs to be a person that really does even out the crew, where we think, "Wow! That's really great!" And we don't crave more members. If anyone can do it, it's Oda.
-
what about a female vegetarian. sanji only gonna prepare vegtabels and luffy wil go crazy
-
If that happened, the crew would probably force Sanji to cook some meat just to shut Luffy up (since he would be demanding it 24/7).
-
The more I think about it, the less probable "new nakama" seems. The current situation in the manga tends to lend itself more readily to "Arc Helper" characters than permanent crew members.
Even though the Straw Hat Pirate Crew numbers only nine (counting the captain), the number of panels it takes to showcase each and every one of them has grown to an unwieldy number. This is probably why there have been so many group attacks, lately: it allows Oda to let all of the fans' favorites shine, without having to give each of them a seperate, chapter-long fight.
Additionally, the appearence of ever-stronger enemies in the story requires the author to decide which path to follow: have the protagonist and two or three other characters dominate the spotlight, create new techniques for multiple characters and stretch out a story arc to the point that the story itself is in danger of being forgotten, or let multiple characters work together to topple a single, powerful foe.
Oda could probably work in one or two more characters into the crew, but each one will cause that many more pages of material he has to churn out on a story he doesn't intend to be his "life's work".
-
I don't see much of a point for Hachi to join. But maybe, by the end of the arc, Caimie miraculously turns 16 (shock! someone ages!) and can grow legs. They have a skeleton, a cyborg, a reindeer, and 2 devils' fruit users already, a merman/mermaid wouldn't be too weird.
-
Mermaids get split fins at 30.
Edit:
Also they have 4 Devil Fruit users, not 2. (brook, Luffy, Chopper, Robin)
And are you getting fishmen/mermen mixed up? I thought this prob had died.
-
@MonkeyDMalcolm:
has anyone ever guessed the next new nakama where it wasn't totally obv like with brook.
Dunno about anybody else, but I guessed Sanji (I mean at the beginning), Chopper (when I first saw him heal someone with Dr. Kureha, I knew it), AND Franky. Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Brook were too easy, and Robin was too hard.
-
At first I hoped Patty would join even though I thought it would be Sanji. But then Sanji showed how awesome he was.
Out of them joining, the most obvious were Zoro, Nami, Sanji, and Brook. Usopp wasn't as obvious since he didn't have a job as sniper yet.
The only one that was a surprise was Robin and Franky (in the W7 arc, but in EL it became all too obvious).
-
The current situation in the manga tends to lend itself more readily to "Arc Helper" characters than permanent crew members.
Agree, this should round out each upcoming arc and also will showcase the SH personalities showing them working with other people. Also I think the stressing of a particular character [at this point] during an arc to give them future nakama-ship isn't where the story is headed. Oda is moving toward the New World and big plot stuff, I'm pretty sure we have all the players right now.
Oda could probably work in one or two more characters into the crew
One would really be all I could swallow. I like Brooke, but without his clutch connection to Laboon I see very little "straw hat" in him. So for me, he gets grandfathered into the crew. Any new nakama would have to have some serious stuff going on.
-
Yeah the next crew member will probably be the last one, a fishman/woman. Dunno what the position would be though (helmsman?) Luffy said 10 men would be a good crew number. He has nine. I'm hoping the next crewmember will be a strong fishwoman since there's more than three times the number of boys than girls on the SH.
-
what about santoumaru. or is he to strong?
we dont have a fighter with an axe in the crew
-
I would actually like if Caimie joined, but she probably won't. I haven't even thought about Hachi, but you never know; I'm open to all possibilities. I would like to have another female in the crew, even better if it's a fishwoman or mermaid. But if it's a male I would like more of a fishman than merman, but ofcourse normal human is good too.
Someone with an axe would be good add to the crew but I think that Sentoumaru's desing is not that of a Strawhat. But if Oda would make him a member I'm sure he could make him fit there :)
I think that there will be two more crewmembers and then that's it, but I also think that we shouldn't think too much about what Luffy said in the first or second chapter; maybe Oda will change his mind or something. Actually I would very much like if Strawhats had a big crew but not that big that they would need to separate it to divisions.
For those who have hoped for giant or fishman/merman with DF powers I have to say that if I remember correctly Oda has said that they can't eat Devil Fruits or they will die. It was most likely in one of the SBS.
-
I want someone normal looking to join again for a change. Unique in terms of personality but someone who actually looks human. We haven't had one since Robin (yes i'm not counting Franky lol). A merman with good merman karate would be good too.
