@Vegard:
Yeah, I knew that SOMEONE had pointed it out before me… But seeing how he asked, I figured I should mention it anyway.
That wasn't me; it occured to me watching it, but I never said anything about it.

This thing sure is thin.
SO which place is already shipping these? Rightstuf?
And how close are they to actually hitting stores?
Now that I have the money and since Funi failed to ship copies to cons, I really want to get a my copy. It's really cheap right? Like 30 bucks for the entire set?
Where can you confirm that it failed to ship to cons?

It sounds like a lot of places have them in stock all ready actually. Like Best Buy and WalMart and stuff.
But as far as cheap goes:

thnx. I'll probably check FYE tomorrow after work then. Hopefully i can snag a copy. :d
I'm gonna check WalMart within the next few days to see if they've gotten it yet.
I was at my Wal-Mart yesterday, they didn't have it. Come to think of it, I didn't seen DBZ Season 5 there like I did last week either.
Mine's shipping out Monday or Tuesday. Good thing I ordered off Amazon. FYE had it in today for $50.
The waiting game continues….

amazon shipped mine out today.
I should get it right after the holiday
Quexi, have u ordered any dvds from that site u posted?
I wonder how reliable it is and how quickly they ship…
No, but it had a 5 star rating on google
Just got the shipping confirmation. It should be here by June 2nd.
A feature I think would be a good idea for Second Voyage would be to have the textless version of the We Are again, only using the original logo. They can switch back and forth between having a textless version with the original logo and then the new logo with each set.

Totally. If they did that, I'd propably stop complaining about the edited logo. I still think they shouldn't have edited it at all, and I also think translating the title-cards was unnecessary, (Luffy announces the title of the episode anyway, so it doesn't NEED to be written in english) but that would basically fix my biggest problem with these sets. They're awesome, but those two edits are unnecessary.
Happy first official DVD set release guys!
My dvd shipped ont he 24th and just got it today ont he 28th!
It looks Wonderful. I cant wait to watch it later!I had go throught the coupons to find it LOL
It is very thin for the dvd boxes.a Little smaller than my Naruto DVD box
The first(?) review of the set is up.

Wow, that review praises it so much.
I love how they put "highly recommended" in bold print.

Wait, "Doesn't take itself seriously at all"? What about ChouChou? Kuro's plot? And that's just the serious parts of THIS set. Just because the villains tend to be somewhat silly, that doesn't mean that the show is a comedy. (Which this review seemed to be implying.) I also fail to see how Zoro's fighting-style is "hilarious".
That review was great, only thing I didn't like was when the reviewer said that the show didn't take itself seriously at all. I feel that's untrue. Unlike Naruto, which takes itself way too seriously at some points, One Piece does take itself significantly less seriously, but has just the perfect intensity that we can both enjoy the series and be shocked by it's occurances at the same time.
Then again, the 20 or so episodes are very light-hearted, so that was probably what the reviewer meant. When we get to Third Voyage and Arlong, it'll probably be a different story.
Ah, so the aliasing is the reason it looks bad on my mac. Well, worse than all my other DVDs since those don't look great either.
By "not taking itself seriously" he means the gags, character designs, etc… Yes, One Piece has some emotional and serious plots but most series would also have practical character designs and such accompanying it.
Got the set, and I'm loving it.
Also, curse my local Walmart for not having it… But sure, they got DBZ movie set 2 and Vexile. >_>
Maybe your WalMart sold out all ready ^_^
Damn, I really hope my Walmart gets it!! D:
All else fails, Amazon.
i got mine from FYE(on sale for $40) yesterday!
I ended up watching it all last nite! The dub and translation turned out so well!
Zoro specifically sounds amazing now! Most of his big dialogue moments sound perfect. I didnt get why people were saying he was the most improved of all the voices but now that I've watched the boxset but now I get it.
My only qualm would be the lack of unedited logo on the japanese track version and not enough extras. The staff commentary was a bit hard to find, too.
But overall it's totally worth it. It's only annoying that I have to wait so long to finish the Kuro arc now.
Also, Colleen gets progressively better as Luffy with the early episodes. She's still not exactly on par with the seiyyuu but she is pulling off a really amazing Luffy in her own right now. I love her laughter now.:D
I'm just crossing my fingers that Vale makes the same effort to perfect his Sanji voice that Sabat did with his Zoro.
I just got mine today. Best Buy only had three of them when I got there. I'm currently on episode 3 right now. It's great so far!
I'm letting one of my friends borrow the set now, since I already watch my copy of the set 3-4 times already. And I hope my friend enjoyed watching the set now. ^_^
@Amazon.com:
Popular in these categories: (What's this?)
#4 in Movies & TV > Anime & Manga > By Studio > FUNimation Entertainment
#45 in Movies & TV > Animation
It's also number 8 in Anime and Manga
Hmmm, looks like One Piece is a success. :silly:
It could very well be TOEI won't supply FUNimation with the 'unedited' footage you guys want so much.
I just my copy today at FYE also. I haven't watch it yet.
I'm personally not putting much hope into my Wal-Mart even tho that's the place I planned to get it. They didn't get movie 8 till two weeks after it released, and they only kept it on their shelves for a week or less before removing it from the store.
I went there last week (or the week before) and they had all the new DBZ releases that came out May 27th but no OP. I can't buy it anyways.
I'm going to repost what I said on the other thread.
Ha, so I went to Best Buy to buy the set, but I saw that it wasn't on the shelf. So I decided to look for it under new releases, but I saw a bunch of boxes, and looked through every single one of them until I found the set. I now have it, and am a very happy boy.
I also finished it. It was a really great buy!

Then why did some of the "earlier" episodes on Toonami use the eyecatchers and previews WITH THE ORIGINAL LOGO? If anything, maybe Toei refused to give FUNi the japanese credits for the opening and ending, (They said they'd be on the DVD, but they weren't) but I'm pretty damn sure Toei wouldn't intentionally send FUNi edited openings. Why would they intentionally edit their own work?
Because they're Toei =P
Because they're Toei =P
Even so, I seriously doubt that they'd actually say "Edit out or logo or else we'll pull the license away from you!", as FUNi did say that Toei was set on their release being as close to the original version as possible. This is actually the first anime by Toei I've seen that actually has the next episode-previews on the american release, except Dragonball GT, which for some reason got to keep the previews even though both the original and DBZ were missing the previews… I still think the logo-edit was FUNi's own idea, and I wish they'd stop doing that.
It is possible TOEI may have forgotten to replace the logo once or twice.
Bought mine yesterday from Best Buy, and I am really enjoying the set. So far I'm nearly through the Buggy Arc. The highlight so far is Buggy's VA. He executes the line, "What did you say about my nose" lines so prefectly.XD

I'm thinking it was Funi's idea too, but I would argue the logo is better than the original and changing it now would just be needlessly inconsistent.
It doesn't look like Wal-Mart got it yesterday and Best Buy is selling it for $40.
I ended up ordering from DDD. $30, free shipping. (Also ordered some Farscape DVDs to replace some old/missing ones)
Whatever faith I may once have had in Toei was lost the moment I watched Slam Dunk.
I have ordered the DVD off of Amazon, and I'm expecting sometime between June 3rd and June 5th.
i bought the dvd today…only watched a few episodes, but so far i am very pleased....and, although its a small thing, i am very happy that they went with "Roronoa Zoro" as opposed to "Roronoa Zolo", really feels like One Piece now, thanks funimation
Now I'm a little hesitant to buy it since I'm sure these box-sets will be repackaged in another box-set in due time.

If you don't go buy it now then 4Kids/the terrorists win.
Lol Strongbad456.
I got mine yesterday and stayed up till 1:30 am watching it. I finished the last 3 episodes of the 2nd disc when I got home from school. Much lol happened.
Does anyone else hate Kaya's new voice? I really wish it was a little less childish…

Really? I missed this. When is this happening?
