@Dragon:
In my opinion, it was probably the best Marvel movie. Don't tell me Spider-Man still is, because Iron Man had no romance bullshit to make it bad. This movie had great action sequences, and Robert Downey Jr. was great in his role!
Too bad I didn't stay after the credits.
I agree with you, i just saw it and i also didnt stay after the credits. I went with my family cause they wanted to see it and my dad was like COME ON…ah how i dont like not having a car
@Kefky:
Seriously, this made every other marvel movie looks like shit. I don't think I'll ever be able to watch the Spider-man movies again.
I think Batman Begins and the original Superman are around the same level, though.
Even though this aint a superhero movie, id say Transformers is at the level too
@AWB:
Screw seeing it with my uncle on Monday. I saw it yesterday. It just took me a while to write the review.
Let's look at some past Marvel flicks, shall we?
Hulk: it had the right idea but didn't pull it off properly
Spiderman triology: they're a joke
X3: different director, different direction. That one had some pretty bad moves.
Daredevil: Some moments of wtf and the movie having no plot for a majority of the movie ruined it
Fantastic Four films: sucked balls
IronMan: the ending credits are too long.
I walked home from the theater thinking just how I would write a review that would do this movie justice. How could I write a movie review that would match my love, amazement, and appreciation for not only this film, but for how IronMan is portrayed in this film? Well, I know I can’t do that but I’ll try my best.
! First off, for the comic book fans, if you’re one of the anti-IronMan fans due to much of Tony’s decisions in the past two years, prepare to have your opinions changed. This movie shows how great the character can be. And I think Tony is the most well developed of all cinematic Marvel characters.
! The film has the perfect opening. It’s one of those “stuck 15 minutes in the future” opening. It’s right there, to display the character’s personality. And it does a damn good job of it.
! Now what I like in a movie is a good mixture of interesting characters that [may] evolve, plot, and fun. This mixture isn’t good, it isn’t great, it’s incredible.
! The film is made to entertain both fans of the comics and those who have never even beard of Batman. The film savors every second of the story. For instance, the scene where Stark and co. eat pizza and the conversation they have. It really savors the moment.
! Also, IronMan isn’t really a super hero in this movie. He doesn’t go around seeking out bank robberies or saving kittens from trees, he only puts on the suit when he knows he absolutely has to. And for the most part, his performance as the IronMan could be described as rookie-like (how I wish rookieish was a really word). He makes mistakes and the suit malfunctions at times. Remember what I said about savoring the moment? They really savor the scenes that show his progress from zero to hero.
! Romance is also of notice. No bullshitting here. Maybe it’s because all of Marvel movies had done romance scenes in a real hokey manner, but this is different. It isn’t “I’m a playboy but I think I found the one I’ll settle with” kind of romance. It’s romance that actually entertains on screen.
! Great acting from all the lead actors and actresses by the way. They help make this movie great. Also, it doesn’t overdue the references to other comic book characters, like in a few other Marvel movies I can think of.
! So if you’re an Tony Stark supporter, hater, someone who’s never picked up a comic book in their life, someone who wants to see a great movie that works on numerous levels, or someone seeking a fun time, this movie is for you. Hell, the only way you’d hate this film is if you’d hate being happy. This film proves that with the right director and the right direction, a superhero can make a splendid movie.
! One thing I hope happens is that director Jon Favreau directs more comic book movies. You really have him to thank for how wonderful this movie turned out. Also, maybe, just maybe, he might end up directing…
! >! The Avengers Movie
I can only hope he does.
^ Agree 100%
This was the best movie since Transformers, and everything that happened in the movie happened for some reason. And look forward to
! War Machine in the next movie "Next time, baby, next time"
And it was funny too, and it never felt boring and no boring love scenes
