Just for a change of pace, this'll be a thread for saying something negative about One Piece. I love One Piece to death, but there has to be something wrong with it on some level.
A character you didn't like, a scene or arc that annoyed you, some logical hole you didn't like… even if it was temporary.
I was mad that Arlong didn't die. I don't like the lack of closure, because I can't imagine hating him any more than I did then, and it would make any later encounter feel diminished.

I wasn't particularly annoyed that ARLONG didn't die, but in the long run, I did get extremely tired of the fact that NOONE does. Seriously, Pell, Pagaya and the Franky Family should have STAYED dead, and we never even got a decent explaination for why they survived being blown up, electrified or shot with a shower of canonballs.
And I felt that the conclusion to the Thriller Bark-saga was anticlimactic. "Hey, I know I was ordered to kill EVERYONE, but because I'm such a nice guy, I'll just injure Zoro and then leave. Bye."

I'm seriously extremely happy that those people survived. It gives a whole other feel to the story.
Okay, here's an idea. A challenge, if you will. How about we talk about the things in One Piece that we don't like so much, WITHOUT mentioning the fact that nobody dies? Because I can't help but feel we're covering old ground here.

The part about the giants, I can accept, but how the hell did Paulie have time to cover the entire side of the island in ropes without anyone noticing? It's like Brolli surviving Dragonball Z Movie 8. No matter how many explainations you can think of, that still doesn't change the fact that they SHOWED his body being ripped apart.

I've always reconciled this with the fact that the WG doesn't seem to actually be tyrannical. Their methods are sure assholish, but every island we see is completely free to do whatever it wants. The WG isn't taxing them unfairly, or oppressing them with an overly anal Navy. They have normal lives.
This is actually one of my only complaints about the series… it seems like the WG is being built up as this super villain, but then we barely see any of the effects of their villainy. I'm hoping the truth of the Blank Century really upsets the balance enough that Dragon's revolution is better justified.

Meh. you know those static electricity generators that your physics teacher used to stand his hair on end? They generate a couple of thousand Volts. Volts aren't really a problem for the human body to handle. It's the Ampere that kills you and Oda hasn't specified any ampere as far as I can see. It's probably assumed it's supposed to be leathal, but untill it is I'm going to assume it's a harmless ammount. (atleast in that specific lightningbolt)

That's Paulies special skill: rope controll. He can do that stuff instantly by haveing the ropes he throws out tie themselves into knots wherever he wants.

Sorry for splitting this… but is this part only about Brolli? I haven't seen the anime covering EL or the BDZ movie, so I really can't comment on this.

And many sucessful and great comedy anime in Japan are based on puns. The Japanese seen to love puns, and the language is great for that :/

What really annoys me is that two guys in Rob Lucci's past (anime only) look like Waluigi and Wario. WHERE DID THAT COME FROM!? Psychotic stare, weird facial hair, EVIL GRIN THAT DOESN'T CEASE TO STOP! Who the hell is Lucci, a freakin' Mario Brother!? Plus, Spandam pisses me off. Just 'cause he did that evil thing to Franky.

Personally, I thought Skypeia and Alabasta dragged, because it seems like all the time spent on world-building isn't contributing hugely to the main story. Also, Croc's plan was needlessly complicated.
And, of course, Arlong should have won.
If it's any consolation to the people who are mad that no one dies, I pretty sure that Robin killed Yama in Skypia (in quite a brutal fashion, might I add).
I guess the fact that the Strawhats never kill anyone makes the fact they themselves are immortal a little less absurd? I dunno =_= But it doesn't really bother me, since I love the cover mini-arcs.

I really don't see your problem with Franky. He's funny as hell and a testament to Oda-sensei's creative genius. You also didn't mention why you don't like him except for circumstances that don't have a bearing on his personality and character and his "unorthodox" fighting style. Seriously, if you hate unorthodox fighting styles, you might as well hate Luffy or Nami or PERONA:)

Actually I love Oda-sensei's world building skills and don't really see why anyone should care just because it slows down the story a page or two. IMO One of the incredible things about One Piece is how it show cases all these different, magical worlds that really take our breath away. Then you get to see how these locations and their environment set scenes for incredible battles and their environment even has an effect on the battle. Case in point, lack of water in Alabasta affecting the fight against Crocodile, big waterfall in the middle of Enies Lobby affecting Franky's fight against Fukorou etc.
Oh and I seriously don't see how Crocodile's plan was overly complicated. It was pretty simple in inception though rather difficult to pull off. Basically get everyone to hate the King, give them weapons, calmly watch the government and the citizens wipe each other out and finish them off yourself to take over the throne. Oh and as a bonus to solidify your country's military status, get Pluton. Pretty simple but of course difficult to do as had been seen. Seriously though, you're trying to take over a country. It shouldn't be as simple as snapping your fingers. Not to mention the thousands of complications that could arise. Like undercover princesses in your organization and a bunch of kick-ass pirates to get in your way ;)

I love one piece storyline and it's unique quirky eccentric characters, but I'd have to say it has it's share of problems.
1. Too many damn fillers, ok fillers are ok to make the series long but too much in the anime gets really annoying especially when you want it to hurry up and get to the main story arcs.
2. Puns are fun but after a while they get annoying, especially one after another.
especially when brook is involved ( though I like brook but he gotta lay off the
puns repetition.
3. Like those side stories in the front of the arcs in the manga but should be put in
more than just the title page say maybe 2 pages or 3, so he can further develop
the past characters side stories.
4. Needs to stop saving everyone let some villians die or the world government powerhouse that way he can add new people with more crazy quirks as wg officials.

The thing that upsets me are the plot points that don't have an explanation. Franky converting himself into a cyborg while still conscious, how the four blues are aware of each other even though it's practically impossible to sail across the two calm belts and grandline and come out unscathed, how Pell can survive a several ton explosion at such close proximity and so forth. I don't care how weird something might be, as long as it has a decent explanation I'm okay with it, so give us an explanation damnit!
None of the arcs so far have been truly amazing to me. I love the series as a whole but each arc had something that bugged me. The arcs before they hit the grandline were all well and dandy but were used more to set up the characters and the world rather than as much for the plot except maybe as foreshadowing. Enjoyable and glad to have it but nothing extraordinary. Alabasta still has me confused at points and I've read it three times. I believe I get it but not totally sure. Jaya and Skypeia were fun but something felt like it was missing or bits could have been better. Don't really know how to explain it. The fights of Water 7 were fun and I loved watching the Straw Hats run around and face multiple enemies but some of them felt too fast or too easy. Thriller Bark ended to abruptly and again something felt a little off. So far though, I think Fishman Island is going to be truly epic and my favorite in the series.

I knew someone would bring my hatred towards Franky into question. Though I was sure it would be a down and out Frankytard who, as usual, would throw a hissy fit, then try to act calm and cool through bad jokes. I wasn't expecting such a polite response. Though "your Franky hating ways are illogical" is in no way less annoying. Sorry, KOF. You almost must be really new to the forum if you're not familar with every reason why I hate Franky by now.
I've already thoroughly explained why I hate the guy more than one dozen times on this forum, and I don't want to do it again, but here's a little sampling of reasons why I hate him: his personality is annoying (remember when I said he was annoying as fuck? What else would I be reffering to?), all his poses and yellings of Supppaaa gets on my nerves, his fanabase is the Narutard equivelent of One Piece, not to mention whenever he does something that I like, he's quick to revert back to his annoying behavior or do something that I don't like, etc.
Now, you can accept what I've said and come to terms that I hate the guy, or you can post some "your hatred is still illogical" posts and change my mind that you aren't an overobsessed fan. Your choice.

I find Brook to be annoying as fuck 80% of the time. His 'comical' side comes off as way too forced. He's like one of those crazy, bad jokesters that only have one or two jokes in their arsenal and laugh at them all the time like they revolutionize humor. When he's serious, or at least in non-wacko mode, he's fine, it's just that he's in wacko mode most of the time… He's easily by least favorite Strawhat, and his legion of fans doesn't help.

I can't think of anything other than his art, and even then it's very VERY low complaints. His style is something that truly amazes me, he managed to start from a very LQ Toriyama style to a standalone style. I would say the complaint is that some of his characters look really bizzar, and at some point all of his villains look the same.
I really like the new guys Franky and Brook and it's really hard for me to find something I don't like about One Piece.
I didn't like what Lufy did to La Boum. Destroying the mast of Going Merry to hurt La Boum … I don't get it.
And his Jolly Roger on La Boum's head looks terrible.

And on Eenies Lobby I was extremely disappointed that we never saw the prison Impel Down itself. Maybe there was no prison at all and the government just kills all prisoners? Impossible. We know that there's someone down there and still alive.
What does it look like? Who is imprisoned there? Wasn't it destroyed by the buster call?
So far abou the manga. There are too many really crappy things about the anime. I don't want to post all of them.

There isn't enough pillaging being done in a story about pirates. Never mind the 'Luffy has only looted one time' argument, other than Buggy, Krieg, Eureeka, and the Piggy Pirates none of the other pirates introduced so far has really been shown pillaging villages. I realize that there are standards of decency even Shounen JUMP must adhere to, so rape and torture are out of the question for this series; but couldn't we get at least one real gangpressing (Davey Back Fight hardly counts) or one vessel taken on the high seas?

The terrible drawing Luffy made on Laboon's head doesn't really bother me. I mean, it does suck, but that's just how good Luffy's artistic skillz are. It's the intention that matters, and that picture is there as a mark to symbolize Luffy's promise, so I like it.

As far as the Brook discussion here, I'll have to agree that he gets a little annoying a lot of the time. Could be his personality, could be a defense mechanism he's created as a living skeleton to cope. …Not going into that further, since this isn't a psychological analysis thread. I must say, though, that I LOVE him the rest of the time.
What I dislike about One Piece is Pell not dying and Enel. For some reason, I never got into him even a bit. I understand him, but...The whole Skypea arc kinda dragged on for me simply because of him. Sorry if I offend anyone with that. He just seemed like a prick with a God complex to me. Not to mention the crazy back drums were very distracting...
I think we should see one Arc where Franky needs to wear pants (for safety or social reasons), and we just see him constantly sweating and cursing about how awkward they make him feel.
I also love Brooke's bone jokes. Not just because I'm a reasonable fan of puns, but because nobody seems to like them except for Brooke and Luffy. And they both love them so much, and I keep cracking up whenever Brooke goes "YOHO! SKULL JOKE!", just pointing out and celebrating how bad the joke was.
On that note, I would like to see a bit more of the Strawhats in situations that brute force can't fix. Infiltration or some such, because with brute force, you ain't stopping Strawhats. Aside from issues while sailing, there aren't a lot, when I think about it (I know, i could be wrong).
And the fact that we will more than likely never learn what's up with Sanji's eye drives me mad!
