Well anyway, I talked with my buddy again, and he's pretty convinced this is going to happen. Most importantly, he says that Toei is VERY unhappy with the way CN has been doing things lately. All in all, their the ones behind the 8-ball here. But honestly, this thing could go either way.
Is your friend creditable?
-
Is your friend creditable?
Well, he keeps abreast of the comings and goings in this business, so I'd say yes.
-
I wouldn't mind so much if I actually HAD Nicktoons. But if it's for the best…
-
Though they give you reruns of Fairly Oddparents and My Life As A Teenage Robot, Nicktoons has pretty much been shit since they removed Angry Beavers.

…
I dunno what to think of this one....
Wow.

Do they still air shows like Cat Dog and Invader Zim on there?
From the good ol' days~
-
CatDog was on at 10:30 A.M. as of last summer or so, I don't think so now. I don't know or care about Zim. I didn't like it then, and I didn't like it now. Lame gross-out humor. But they show Rugrats, which is a major plus. Needs more pre-Dill stuff, though, but it is mostly pre-Kimi stuff.

How could "One Piece" just so easily make the jump from Cartoon Network to Nicktoons Network in the first place?

Toei can revoke the rights at any time if they want to.

Since when was this? Was Toei Animation the one that paid Cartoon Network to air the episodes?
-

No, Cartoon Network bought episodes to air. Toei doesn't pay anyone, they pay them.

But since when could Toei Animation revoke the rights at any time? How do you know this?

Well, because it's THEIR show. They made it, they own it, they have complete control of it. If they don't want someone to have it, then they will not have it. That's what they did with 4Kids and with Viz's DVD rights.

VIZ's DVD rights expired and 4Kids let Toei Animation have it back because they didn't want it anymore. We don't know what's going on with Cartoon Network.

I wish Toei would revoke the rights of the first 13 episodes of Dragonball and the first movie.

DAMMIT!!!!!!
We're getting DirecTV this summer and The Angry Beavers was the show I was looking forward to seeing the most! Do they at least have AAH! Real Monsters?
-
I have not the slightest clue.
-
Catdog was on weekdays just recently, but seems to have gone in the last month or so. No "AAH! Real Monsters?", the only older shows on their weekday schedule is Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, & Rocko's Modern Life. If you count Jimmy Neutron, that too.
Rocket Power sometimes comes on, but usually in the middle of the night or some other bad schedule.
Weekends is mainly newer shows.
-
I would prefer it if One Piece didn't get thrown onto Nicktoons TV. I don't have the kind of money needed to get Digital Cable.
Plus, lord only knows what kind of editing THEY'LL want.
-

As long as they're NOT mad at FUNi who I think we can all agree have been more than doing their part to make One Piece successful.
The fact that Toei is unhappy what CN is doing with One Piece makes me think it is not cancelled because if it was canceled why would Toei be angry at how they were treating it since they got rid of it?
-
My hope is Toei owns CN so bad it returns to CN with a great schedule.
-
Hopefully it doesn't go to Nick Toons, it'll never get the popularity it deserves in that place :( Not to mention the editing.
-
Where is the source of One Piece going to the Nicktoons channel? Also, if it's a rumor that was posted by someone with no proof, it probably is false.

GaryPotter heard it from a credible friend of his.

Fucking humps…

yea, they do, I watch Nicktoon network every friday.
but i think its' bad to put one piece on NTNetwork. The'll be editing everything. No blood, the closest curse we got on CN was crap so we'll get worse here.
One Piece should have its slot at 10:00 on saturday on toonami. I also wouldnt mind if it was on IO anime on demand
-
GaryPotter heard it from a credible friend of his.
I see. Thanks for telling me.
Anyway, I do not believe this. Why? Because anyone on the internet can say they have a credible friend and such. For example, I can say that I have a friend that works for Nintendo and such and lie that I know about the new Zelda game. Also, another reason I do not believe that One Piece will go to the Nicktoons channel is that only cartoons that were made by Nickelodeon go on it. Which means the chance of One Piece ever being on the Nicktoons channel is almost 0%. Lastly, I believe that One Piece will come back to Cartoon Network because Cartoon Network aired 128 episodes and I doubt that the Funimation One Piece episodes got lower ratings than the 4kids ones.

WHERE ARE THE RATING CHARTS?
No one ever posts them.. -_-
And isn't the rating system flawed anyway, because of that whole "Nelson Box" system? How can they even tell?
-
DAMMIT!!!!!!

Doesnt matter… ..It'll get pulled like with every new channel. Channels that werent included on basic cable you had to pay extra for... ...Since its a new channel, and they dont have much of their original program to air (and lack commercials) they have to add shows that will get subscribers.
Once they get enough subcribers (usually a few months after your local cable provider gets it) they pull the shows you like and start airing nothing but their own more recent crap.
Wasn't Nicktoons TV created to air the older shows though?
Fucking humps…
Yeah but youre average watcher grew up in the SpongeBob age… ..they dont want to see Rocko or Stimpy... ...they want to see 24 hours of sponge bob... ...just incase he/shes bored with whatever particular Spongebob episode theyre airing on their normal channel.
Nicktoons is no different than Toon Disney... ...they used to air classics... ...the only disney cartoon they air that I consider "theirs" are shows you can see on their normal channel.
I see the same fate for The N and Noggin, if they havent done so already.
Anyway, I do not believe this. Why? Because anyone on the internet can say they have a credible friend and such.
Then dont believe it. I sure dont… ...but because he said that it does give fans some hope that theirs a future. Rather than say "LIAR!!" you should say "I hope he's right"
All thats occurred if they did occur were just talks... ...no one said its going to happen... ...its a "might happen because they talked about it"
Well anyway, I talked with my buddy again, and he's pretty convinced this is going to happen. Most importantly, he says that Toei is VERY unhappy with the way CN has been doing things lately. All in all, their the ones behind the 8-ball here. But honestly, this thing could go either way.
I hope it does, and I totally understand Toei's attitude… ...I cant really explain right now because it may hurt OPs future, but if it does get picked up by Nick, maybe then I can explain how truly stupid CN is.
-
GaryPotter - who is this buddy of yours?
But since when could Toei Animation revoke the rights at any time? How do you know this?
Animation studios and sponsors typically reserve that right at any time. There was a recent incident involving this were Aniplex and Gainax revoked the Gurren-Lagann rights from ADV and gave it to Bandai USA.
-
Toei is mad at CN? I wonder why… maybe they didn't like the edits that were happening XD

More likely they were pissed that CN really didn't give a crap about One Piece.

Ding Ding Ding
-
First of all if Toei did contact Nicktoons or whatever all it would really indicate is that Toei is shopping the series around, and I doubt Nicktoons would be the only network contacted.
@Lobster:

Since Cartoon Network is a cable channel and not one of the big network channels, its ratings aren't generally released. Most ratings information for it comes through hearsay or "inside info" or whatever
The rating system isn't perfect but there are a lot of homes that have Nielsen boxes so there's a decently large sample group, and they're completely randomly picked. Sure, it's not a perfect system, no system would be, but denying it has any legitimacy just because you don't like the results is stupid (read certain Arrested Development and Jericho fans)

They air new stuff on there every so often.
Also, another reason I do not believe that One Piece will go to the Nicktoons channel is that only cartoons that were made by Nickelodeon go on it. .
Pinky & The Brain used to air on there and that wasn't produced by Nickelodeon.

Two Words: Hammer Gun
-
I'll upload the other one soon.
-
they messed up, they said it was the entire first season, its only part 1
-
13 episodes can be considered a season.
-
only by production though, right?
-
-
That's a really great looking ad. Thanks for scanning it.
-
But since when could Toei Animation revoke the rights at any time? How do you know this?
Sailor Moon cries in a dark corner.
-
They put an Avatar add in Shounen Jump?
-
Nice to see it get a full page ad.
Thanks for the scans
-
I hope they don't consider Avatar an anime. If they did, who cares just as long as I get to see One Piece in English starting from Episode 1. Its like watching the subs all over again.
-
Most places consider Avatar an anime. Even tho it's not Japanese it is the genre enough for people to point and go "Anime", and thus it is.
Also, reading upside down is hard.
-
I hope they don't consider Avatar an anime.
..that's not what I meant. I was just wondering that because it's not actually a comic in Shounen Jump; and I thought SJ only ran advertisements for their own products in the magazine.
And I don't believe in that "anime = Japanese only" thing anyway. In Japan the word refers to all animation in general.
It's so stupid that it's segregated and junk in America. I tend to agree with the latter, that any location can create an "anime"So yes, I for one am happy that the barriers are being broken and blurred these days.
I get to see One Piece in English starting from Episode 1. Its like watching the subs all over again.
It's probably going to be an even more enjoyable experience.
-
Uuuh… why would they simply advertise their own products? They'll be paying/taking away money from themselves. SJ is a magazine, it's got ads. They tend to advertise Ballpark Franks on the back cover, they advertise a lot of games, be it console or online (they advertise MapleStory quite a lot) as well as other things.

Mmm,
Well I've never actually gotten the opportunity to read one for more then 15 seconds.
