No anime series is for everyone, but that doesn't stop Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, etc.
Um….there are people that love anime and hate them. There are people that love anime and are apathetic towards them. There are people that fucking hate anime.
What is with OP fans and their disgusting sad-as-shit emo inferiority-fucking-complex!?
"Naruto is popular! That's unfair!"
"Bleach is popular! That's unfair!"
"All we are saying is give One Piece a chance!"
"It should have the right to be popular like those popular series just because we love it!"
I'm not into conspiracy theories, but it's clear CN never really cared about One Piece.
Cartoon Network doesn't care about cartoons.
Cartoon Network doesn't care about anime.
Cartoon Network doesn't care about their programming schedule.
Cartoon Network doesn't even care about ratings.
What Cartoon Network cares about is positive responses from advertising clients and renewal of contracts.
The overwhelming majority of television exists, believe it or not, solely for the two and a half minutes of ads between that show they happen to air.
Sure, if they can get rights to tie-products, that's great. It still doesn't help their show.
Hey folks guess what? Did you know you can say 'shit' on any television network? All that has to happen is for SPONSORS to want their name to be associated with a program that would happen to do such a thing. Beyond the writers, actors, animators, etc. 90% of television relies solely on who wants to pay a network to make a show.
CN doesn't have it out for OP. So stop your fucking juvenile and sophomoric tirades. They exist to bring you ads and if for some reason OP doesn't get responses REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY PEOPLE WATCH IT then the sponsors drop out. And what sponsor wants sloppy seconds?
God! You guys think it's so simple. The world of big business according to peewees.
Edit:
"Why do you think so Greg?"
Because I used to be a journalist for an anime magazine. I've attended closed door Cartoon Network press conferences. I met the then President of CN. I listened for an hour straight as they described shows in 15 seconds or less and then talked about how it could be marketed and to whom. There isn't someone at the top going, "Golly! I sure do love anime!" There's someone going, "How can we market this program to the target audience at the appropriate time and what sponsors would best suit this timeslot for said audience?"
It's bleak. It's dark. It's called life.
