I love how they emphasize "OUR" Pirate crew. A little jab at 4Kids perhaps?
This Friday, huh?
Don't care much for recorders.
Just wanna know, if anyone does go, how the episodes are.

I knew it. When I saw a few weeks ago that OP was scheduled for an hour at comic-con, I figured it would be the first 2 eps (but this says 3, so even better). I will be there!
They love premiering stuff in NY, don't they?
Well that is really great news. ^_^
Goddamnit, I go to school in the city. Just being in class while that's going on will drive me insane! Next year I plan to start hitting up cons in New York.
I don't consider it exciting news. We'll be getting 13 which we can own ourselves in 43 days.
Yeah, Buuhan is right, pretty soon we'll all have our own. But I am counting on someone to tell me if they play Vic's version of "We Are", and how it is.
I guess most people are most excited about what CN will say about One Piece coming back. Toon Zone reported that they have a new scheduling manager (I dont think that's her exact title, but you get the gist of what she does), so it's all up in the air.

The new manager could be an interesting turn of events.
What I mostly want to know is why CN doesn't have anything beyond the last episode they played when Australia is playing the next episode this Friday. That answer might not come from CN, ladies and gentlemen. That might have to come from a Funimation rep.

That's kind of similar to what happened with the 4Kids version.

That doesn't sound good.

Can't you just skip class one day?

Same here dude, I go to college right in the freaking city and I could be there instantly after my classes if I wasn't schedueled for work Friday and Saturday. I would switch my work day, but I already did that this week.
Guess I'll have to wait till May….
how does bitching about fried dynamite have anything to do with one piece?:ninja:
easy. that hsow, George of the jungle and other CN shows are moving to toonami this weekend…BLAH!
isnt toonami supposed to be anime?
I'll be glad to get the OP dvd in a month or so.keep my mind off this whole Funimation/CN chaos
To whoever is going
Don't just ask about the cancellation. Ask specific questions like when was the last time they sent CN episodes. Also be sure to quote what the article said about OP NOT returning AND mention it's not on the schedule through May which is an awful long time to shuffle a schedule. If they said that shuffling thing again, ask if they heard it directly from CN or if they're just assuming.
Thanks.
@Sandai:

How so? I wasnt into One Piece back when 4kids was dubbing it, so I dont know much about what happened when they were in charge of it. I didnt get into it until about a month before Funimation got it.
By the way, Sandai, you took Gavin down?
Well when CN was still running the 4Kids episodes, Australia was getting some of the episodes before we were, the episode we're Crocodile Impales Luffy for example.
By the way, Sandai, you took Gavin down?
Yea I change my avatars every so often, shame I don't have a banner
to compliment my Apollo Avatar.

I agree with Quexi.
Ask this question as well:
Do they know when One Piece is returning to Cartoon Network?
Comic Con is sold out already. :getlost:
You fail us once again
The day of the Con will soon arrive, so I hope that you atleast manage to relay some data from your other contacts throughout the city. For Quexinos is not as forgiving as I am.
Lobster, your preference of the dramatics is quite retarded. Never said I had a posse of contacts in the city at your disposal to ask about dubbed openings, and answer to the "Compass" mystery.
They've got a program that they call "One Piece" from 5 to 6 Saturday, is that gonna be a showing? Sorry if someone already asked, I didn't want to browse all those days.
And I don't understand how they can do a "Behind the scenes" when they only have one of the FUNi VA's that'll be there, according to the guest list (Justin Cook). Well, too bad I won't be going Saturday to see it.
whether its true or not, It makes me feel better. I'm tired of being pissed off over this, and if it turns out to be wrong, then I get pissed then instead of now. Now I might need to change my signature. Sorry CN (maybe?)
Still Cartoon Network sucks, they let Naruto air, even with the crap fillers, but no, one piece gets through the boring part of the Skypiea arc and it get pulled off. Someone should go over there and destroy the building.

That's a very progressive statment at this point.

It's all about the ratings.

That'd be no different if One Piece was airing with crappy fillers which it like Naruto has, besides the demographic won't really care.

Zephos thought about it but he backed out.
I'll be there too folks. EGX we'll have to meet up again for a bit.
If you still have my cell, sure. Just don't call me before 3:30. I'll be at work from 8 till then.
Ah, just being in New York and not being able to go disappoints me greatly. Just make sure you ask the right questions if you're going to ask, and have fun.
I'm way more disappointed I can't go. T.M.Revolution(J-Pop) is gonna perform there and I can't see it. I love T.M.Revolution! Life's just not fair. Plus if the One Piece episodes air there I'm missing that too.
I've pretty much accepted that OP is never gonna get a fair shot in English.
Between america and it's standoffish attitude to all but the most basic of anime ….And 4Kidz and it's complete hack job and butchery of the intial american exposure.
The people who would've loved it now no longer care ... because they think that 4crap version was a true representation. And the people who are into it ... watch teh fansubs.
I'm honestly just glad they are doing box sets of uncut dvds. :D
My anime shelf looks supa lonely with just the 8th movie. :D lol
(note I own way more Anime than that .. just so far thats the only OP worth buying in the states >_< )
The people who would've loved it now no longer care
I'm not sure I want to be associated with a group of people that are so thick-headed that they can't even bother to look online to figure out what the original is like.
This is exactly the attitude that appauls me.
"OP should be given a chance and everyone would love it."
No, no they wouldn't. OP isn't for everyone. I for one am glad finicky dumbfucks like that avoid it.
I concur, I've really had it with this crap. I realized that One Piece not being on Cartoon Network doesn't change the fact that I like it. I know I live in a country in which crap like Naruto and Bleach is more popular, and I don't care. I'd rather be an individual than some bland member of a fan base. It's funny, the Naruto fanbase actually contributed in turning me off the series.
One Piece doesn't have to be liked by everyone. As long as I like it, it's still the same One Piece. I'd rather spend my time enjoying the series, then trying to convert people to it like its some religion.
I wont make to AX in july or ComicCon in California next month if OP appears at the ComicCon(doubt it)
I am searching everywhere for any news possible about this.
has anyone gotten a reply back from CN yet?
this better not end up like DBZ did at one point

No anime series is for everyone, but that doesn't stop Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, etc. It doesn't mean we shouldn't hope for it to gain success. I'll always love One Piece, even if it doesn't have an audience here.
But it still blows with what's happening to it's future here. At least FUNi is doing really good right now with it. I just hope it can last.
If there were an overabundance of dumb fucks in the fandom, I for one, will be able to easily avoid 'em. And if I had a chance to alter One Piece's success here… Even with the risk of having a flock of dumbasses join the fandom... I would do it.
I'm sorry... I just don't like that whole "Well, at least we don't have dumbasses!" (when we actually do...) reason...
You know what the really sad part about this whole thing is? If DBZ had premiered on CN they way that they are now, it would have been a complete failure. DBZ succeed because it got a great weekday afternoon time slot, and because it was actually advertised. It wasn't thrown into a late-night slot once a week. I'm not into conspiracy theories, but it's clear CN never really cared about One Piece.

Im starting to agree with you, GP.

It probably wouldn't kill CN to give One Piece one of Naruto's time slots. Too bad CN would rather continue to suck Naruto's dick than do that though. I'm surprised they still have other shows than Naruto on Toonami. I expected them to try pulling what they did with DBZ by now and turn Toonami into a two hour Naruto block.

I wouldnt be surprised if that happened, actually.
I remember when Toonami used to be the reason I rushed home after school….boy, have things changed.
But, IIRC, Blue Dragon is only 52 episodes long, right? I wonder what it'll be replaced with...
