Actually, Hachi, Caimie and Pappag are honored guests on the crew, so they kinda join, just like Kokoro, Chimney and Gonbe kind of join. There was also Gan Fall, Conis and her father. Vivi was the longest staying special guest who wanted to join, but had duties as a princess that anchored her to Arabasta.
I'm pretty interested to see how the whole ship going under water thing works out. Is the ship going to just be placed inside of a bubble and brought down? Or are we going to see some strange Oda logic?
I thought it might be waterproofing the outside of the ship and maybe there's a current that'll guide them down there while they stay inside.
Putting a bubble around Sunny is parallel to modifying Merry for flight. I'm beginning to think that Oda is intentionally drawing all the parallels between Fishman Island and the Sky Islands. Perhaps there's a Poneglyph there, and we'll find out more about the Void Century. Not that I'm saying there will be another Survival Game and ancient civilization, like Shandora, but I think that something will lead to a Poneglyph being found. Perhaps the parallel is about where Poneglyphs were hidden. Either way, I'm sure that it's going to relate to the plot in some way.

Yep – it seems as though he's got some sort of metal feed-bag (or muzzle) around his mouth, and some sort of exhaust pipe on either side of his body -- which may also keep him buoyant. And while it's possible that Motobarou moves his legs around under water to propel himself forward by swimming, the feed-bag and exhaust pipes would seem to indicate instead that he is ... erm ... "gas"-propelled.
"Motobarou" sounds like a pun of "Motorboat"
I would like it to be a straight shoot down to fishmen island next chapter, if not I would like Oda to do something that can keep me interested.

It´s probably me a lot more chapters to skip before they get there. This arc is IMO by all means the Fishman Island equivalent of Skypiea´s Jaya. And Jaya actually also didn´t start at Jaya but with talk about Sky Island. Let´s compare it.
1. Reference to Sky Island through the ship that fell out the sky as well as the Log pointing up/the Log thing and the refence to Fishman Island already happened in Water 7 but right now they are practially on the same spot FI is located (just they were back then for SI).
2. A dumbfuck monkey causes a bit of trouble/a dumbfuck mafioso causes a bit of trouble
3. They head for Jaya in order to find ways to get to Sky Island/they head to the Shanbondie Islands in order to be able to get to Fishman Island.
Ok, on part 2, Shandondie used two chapters more then Jaya but of course that doesn´t matter. The point is that in these beginnings the patterns are practically the same, which is why I find it very unlikely to expect the adventure on Shabondie to be over in three chapters. Add something like 10-12 to the three and I´d say that's more like it.

Understandable. But you might consider rereading it now. You don´t know when it will come into play later on. I mean that Masira salvage thing might have been boring to some other guys too, but then again, if you´d have skipped that you wouldn´t have gotten Crickett´s reference to cloud giants in the end of Skypiea.
Not that something similar happened. But with him giving the Strawhats his number in this chapter I think it´s safe game to assume that he´ll come into play at Shabondie later like Masire did at Jaya. Also now that it´s over those five chapters are fun for the crew interactions alone.^^

The Shabondie Islands are extremely well detailed, definately one of the most interesting places Oda's come up with.
I have a feeling that the Straw Hats somehow for some reason are gonna call up Duval and his gang during this arc before they go to Fishman Island and the New World. There's no reason, nor way they'd reach the Straw Hats after it.

OP has always managed to be stupid funny .. and Cool/dramatic.
It's one of the things that makes it great … It never manages to make it too serious ... one of the big beefs I had with DBZ ... is it lost a huge part of the humor that made DB so great.
I like that OP doesn't sacrifice that ... not even as the battles get more epic and the main characters get uber strong. :D
