It is just two more, right? Then they're rerunning?

So, if they're any intelligent posters left in this here OP anime section, I'd liked to know if the Funi Piece is canceled or just on hiatus?
(Don't feel like reading through 18 pages of BAAWING.)

It's gone, dude. CN's Upfront today all but confirmed it.

Proof?? I dont believe you unless you have proof.
-
Has anyone paid attention to the Toonami schedule for the States?
Samurai Jack is listed as airing ONLY on April 5th. No future dates are posted, unlike Blue Dragon which has airings on the 12th.
Wrap your head around that one, folks.
-
Bakugan will be returning to Toonami.
-
-
It's not confirmed. Nothing was cancelled.
-
thank god. someone better have the two eps on Veoh
-

Uh-huh. Right.
16 fails.
-
Oh! Oh no! I've made the trolls angry! I guess they weren't happy that they had to use their brains instead of just watching Beyblade and scratching their butts.
For all of you who can actually think, let's look at this logically. CN said that they will show no more One Piece "at this time." Now, that could mean anything, really. Let's not forget that 4Kids said they weren't doing more One Piece "at this time." So realistically, more often than not, it means that something is over with. Then there's the flip side. CN has said it doesn't have anymore episodes of One Piece to air in the first place. So in order to bring One Piece back, they would have to order more episodes, something that has not happened. CN has given no indication that it intends to buy more episodes. Nor does CN seem interested in the One Piece property at all anymore. Let's not forget that Duel Masters, Rave Master, and Zatch Bell were all dumped in pretty much the same manner.
So, One Piece is VERY unlikely to return to CN. Hell, it never even got its own show page on their website. While not impossible, the show probably isn't coming back. And let's be honest, do you really think it will come back?
-
I think it, FUNimation is persistant and now that they know something is afoul they are bound to either correct some mistakes or alter the fans an alternative. Our problem is that we do not want false information being spread. At this point in the game nothing is for sure.
-
GaryPotter speaks the truth. The odds of One Piece returning to Cartoon Network are extremely low at this point. It does have a better chance than say Zatch Bell im my own personal opinion, but that chance is a very very very low miniscule one.
They just might as well scrap Toonami all together at this point and rename it Narutopia since that seems to be the only show they're doing something with on the block nowadays sadly.
-
These facts make me a sad…whatever the hell I am.
-
It's not good that he considers the statements of a network to be the same as that of an anime dubbing company. That comparison would only have worked if Funimation said something similar to what 4kids had once said, not CN.
GP needs to cut back on the conspiracy theories for a while, watch some Beyblade to calm his nerves.
-
Gary, we're talking about 4kids, i know Cn does rash things but not this rash. They have to flat out confirm it.
-
People, you need to stop blamming Naruto for everything in life. CN never advertises new episodes and the show only has the two premier spots that it does have and that's not for long considering how CN is ten or so episodes behind what Studiopolis has dubbed.
-
I have yet to see any proof that backs up GP's claims that OP is done or has little to no chance.
And I still say you folks with ties to C/N reps shouldn't be pissing around the question of what the deal is with One Piece. That is of course, if you actually HAVE ties. Sounds more like you're just reading some piddly information that they send down the wire and that you only have one-way communication with them.
-
CN is fickle these days and change their minds on the turn of a dime.
-
one piece will return, in a couple of weeks, mabye tow months or so, CN will realize the ratings are so bad, one piece will be back.
-
As much I want One Piece to come back, GaryPotter is probably right. One Piece probably isn't ever coming back to CN. CN has their plans for the future of Toonami and they don't include One Piece.
-
Look I'll believe GP if One Piece is gone for a whole year, that would make it more plausible.
-
Woah, WTF is this?
You won't believe this. Samurai Jack is being replaced on April 12 by…Bakugan. WTF? I can't believe this.
A show is being replaced by the show the previous show had replaced. What in the holy mother of hell is going on at Cartoon Network nowadays?
Anyways, let me just address the Yu Yu Hakusho issue. The ONLY reason CN even bothered airing the last season is because they had already ordered all the episodes right from the start, and not airing them would be in violation of their agreement. In the case of both Zatch Bell and One Piece, they ran out of episodes and made a conscious decision not to buy more. As far as CN Australia goes, I guess CN in the US just doesn't want to air those last 2 episodes for whatever reason.
But seriously, CN is really in dire straits if they can't even keep their schedule consistent one week to the next.
-
…
I don't even know what to think of this one.
-
Hmmm… I'm gonna go negative just so if it comes back I'll be uber excited.
-
@Yuugi's:
CN is fickle these days and change their minds on the turn of a dime.
Already knew that, as the schedule changes with Blue Dragon, Bakugan and Samurai Jack prove they're not sure what to do.
Bakugan's return to Toonami doesn't change anything about what we know on One Piece at the moment. The only thing we've been able to conclude is that C/N doesn't have enough new episodes to air and are waiting to bring it back to promote the uncut DVD's.
-
Cartoon network is random they can"t even keep a consistent schedule, yeah One Piece fans things look bleak for "One Piece'' to return to syndication in toonami. but lets not give up hope I feel Gary is being too pessimistic on things, Cartoon network have not really confirmed One Piece's cancellation .Buying the uncut legal release can help support funi and help them convince Cn to keep the show on air, call this being foolishly optimistic all you want I am trying to keep a open mind.
-

I'll be frank… You claim GP lacks proof that One Piece won't be returning, but where is your proof that it will? If you're just assuming it will then you're in the same boat as GP at the moment.
-

I take Funimations strong affirmation that their show will be returning over CN's vague announcement via proxy. Until Funimation themselves tell us it's not coming back, there's no reason to give GP's theory any thought.
-
Basically,
Cartoon Network=World Gov't
One Piece=Straw Hats
It's most likely not coming back but who cares. We're getting uncut DVDs with crazy release dates. Plus, this makes it easier on FUNi as well since they won't have to adapt the episodes to meet CN's standards anymore.
-
Jesus Christ!
What's with all the doomsday theories? Can we actually wait a few weeks and see what happens before throwing our hands in the air and shouting how "it's over"?!
Most likely it'll be back in a month or two. If not… well, we'll see when we see. -
Oh well
OP was one shitty anime anyway
only moments i liked were the jet gattling/ LuffyVSUsopp/ Storm ones.
-
Yes! Because if something isn't on tv, it ceases to exist completely!

….......you are ridiculous.
not cuz of yer opinion. but, like......ju-just what the fuck are you doing here?
-
Don't get me wrong
I sometimes enjoy the anime. After all, I enjoy Godzilla movies, wich also have a low budget and all.
It's just that I would rather read the manga than wasting my money/time getting the anime for extra stuff that Toei adds that most of the time is not that impressive
-
I disagree. People complain that the OP anime is cheap, but I say it looks pretty nice. You gotta consider they almost 100% follow the manga, and it's a very long series. So really, if it comes down to having a high budget OP anime which would have only lasted a season or two and had a filler ending or no ending at all, or a lower budget one which actually keeps on with the manga… I'd choose the later.

Well, if you're talking about looks as in animation, I think it's pretty lacking at times. I agree with your last sentence though. Actually, I'm not a big manga reader so it's hard for me to really understand why some people dislike the anime while liking the manga. That's not an invitation to start listing reasons btw. I'd rather not know.

Yeah but the anime changed a lot of content and for example the manga revealed why Sanji smokes but the anime cut out this out ,most manga"s are better than there anime counterparts because the manga has more story details and the art is always consistent and their are no fillers.

let me inform you the anime had cut out content, had fillers contradicting later established facts in the canon events ,and when you cut story material it automatically (and when you don"t read the source material) it lessens ones experience with the the adaption and makes the source material look like a much better experience .
-
Oh woooow, I don't know why Sanji smokes if I only watched the anime. Who cares? I read the manga and I can't even remember that. The only real important thing that the anime cut was Luffy stabbing himself.
That's no different than Sanji smoking!
My ass.
Sorry for this harsh post, I'm not feelin' too super right now.
-
Oh great, the manga elitists are here :getlost:
I personally take solid voice acting and an epic musical score over lifeless black and white panels any day.
-
Oh great, the anime elitist is here.
I rarely watch the anime anymore beyond the FUNi dub and occasional weekly live broadcast in Japan. The manga IS better, but the anime is great too.
-
Why not just have both?
-

Sarcasm , well if don"t even care about the "details'' thats you I met several people who castigate the anime ( I personally enjoy the anime) . I think you think I am a "mangaonly" person I can tell you I am not I personally can name a few anime that surpassed their manga counterparts Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter.

Funimation wanted to keep Case Closed running and yet all they can do now is sell the DVDs. How do you know One Piece won't suffer the same fate? Personally considering the case with Case Closed I can see it as a possibility.
and really if the DVDs are the only thing we'll have to go on then that's not going to help One Piece's popularity in the US. So yeah Funi will cater to One Piece fans by selling the DVDs and what not, but without a time slot for One Piece on TV how do you expect them to get more people into the series?

The reasoning for Case Closeds ( Detective Conan in Japan) failure is quite simple IT WAS A KID SHOW funimation tried to market as a adult teen show . this is do do differences in culture. hence why I get anal when a fan says One Piece should be on adult swim because it will ultimately fail big time.
-

Hey dimwit, you double posted. Cut it out or you'll get banned.

But did Funimation tell us Case Closed would be coming back to tv after AS took it off the air? Did AS say they ran out of episodes to air? In fact, what did either of them say when that show was taken down?
Case Closed is just as bad an example as Yu Yu Hakusho. They have nothing to do with what's happening to One Piece.
Hey dimwit, you double posted. Cut it out or you'll get banned.
I'd leave that to the mods.
